Your car has an overheating issue or a leakage within the engine cooling system

i was told by mecho to remove the thermostat

Removing the thermostat and running the fan directly would not stop the leak or eliminate your overheating issues (unless you have a leak on the thermostat housing and a bad thermostat).
Find the leak, fix the overheating, and keep your thermostat in the car.

Good morning Gazzuzz, Nurey, jceesquare et al.

I started my car this morning and I noticed the battery indicator light didn’t disappear as usual.

I drove the car to the office (15mins drive).

I called an electrician and he ask me to remove the negative terminal from the battery, I did and the battery indicator light was still there.

He told me that the issue is the alternator.

I off the car for about 15mins. When I want to go out, I cranked the car and the battery indicator disappeared as usual, I drove for 10mins and still the indicator did not appear.

Should I still replace the alternator or I should drive for some time?

You may have a short circuit let them check, normally the crude way to check alternator is to start a vehicle and remove the negative terminal. If the car dies, alternator is bad if the car is still working alternator is good.

Normal way is to use multimeter to test the out put of an alternator. Let a rewire help u check sha

Okay. Thanks Nurey.
When I removed the negative terminal, car was still running but the battery indicator light was still there.

I will request the electrician comes with a multimeter to test.

Yes when battery isn't present the battery indicator would come on as long as car is still running the alternator is good.

The only issue here maybe if alternator isn't giving the required output to charge the battery which will be evident as battery won't start vehicle when parked for long

What car is this?
Start from the easy to difficult diagnosis

1. Check all fuses (especially fuse that works with charging system). Replace blown fuse, and fit lose fuse firmly.

2. Check socket going into alternator (the one local mechanic call “show bulb” and fit well if loosely fitted)

Also do the following with a multimeter when car is running to test alternator.
1. Read the battery with a multimeter. You should get 13 plus volt but not more than 14.5 volts (depending on cars though cos I've seen a Mercedes read 15+ volts then dropped back to 13)
If you get a reading below 12.6 volts, then alternator is not charging (do not condemn it yet) move over to the 2 step.
If you get reading above 14.5 volts, then your alternator is over charging ( still do not condemn the alternator) move to 3 step

2. Take a reading from the positive post on the alternator and a good ground or negative post on the alternator (depending on the car) if you get below 12.6 volts, then your alternator is bad. If you get 13+ volts from the alternator and a lower reading from the battery post, then there's a shot between alternator and battery post. If the difference between reading from the battery and alternator is much, you also have a shot between both terminals. For this, you can run a positive wire from the alternator to the battery then take reading from the battery to see if it helps.

3. If you get readings that are abnormally high and fluctuating, then it's either your voltage regulator is bad or your alternator itself is bad.

Stop throwing parts at the car.
Get a competent hand to fix that car.

Thanks so much!
I just replaced the gear...tired of wahala jare.
But 2 codes popped up after...I can't seem to rev the car at all.

P0108
P0123

Any ideas to "guide" the mechanic?
Thanks?

Conner44:

A gear specialist can work on it. It’s showing issues with its temperature sensor and a pressure solenoid and an internal shift control solenoid. All can be replaced and your clutch packs checked for damage. I don’t know how good the person you took it to is but it can definitely be worked on.

The mechanic must have not plugged in your map and throttle position sensors or he has damaged either the wiring or the sensors themselves.

The map sensor is on your intake manifold and the throttle position sensor is in your injector mouth

Please help urgently...

My 09 honda city not responding well to keyless remote when trying lock or unlock the car. I have to try it many times since yesterday.
Or is the remote battery weak? The remote sensor light blinks and the car light, but the doors won't lock.

What could be the problem?
