These are okay on a normal day, but lot of people get denied before they have a chance of presenting any of the above.

From stories I have heard, some people see the denials as premeditated, that is before you show up to that interviewing window, your case and outcome has been sealed, Otis just awaiting your arrival at the interview window for delivery.

Just make sure your information in 2012 aligns with what you’ve filled now.
And have you gotten a visa date.
You may want to have your interview done in Abuja not Lagos.

@ OP i got similar invitation sometime last year with my inlaw's friend(we paid for the slot) graduation date was just less than 2months away... unfortunately i ddnt make it because after all the whahala(gathering all neccesary documents) i was slated for interview by the embassy in June 2023 this year.... Omo i was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo emotionally bleeped up for weeks


Do your best, hope you gets a quick date for interview before the graduation.

Bros. I pray and hope this goes through for you because what we have out there in Nigeria is a huge mess. Nice gesture from your inlaw but you really need to prepare for that dreaded interview. His school can give him as many spots but they’re not the ones that will interview and give you the damn visa.
1. Gather your documents for the interview and relax during the interview. Try not to show that you’re even excited about traveling out.
2. Answer direct questions and don’t go further than that. No embellishment ok.
3. Everything about US is based mostly on patriotism and love of their Country. You will get the visa if they feel you will make their Country great because they need hardworking immigrants and not crooks or those who will be burden.

Getting out of Nigeria came at the right time for me almost two decades ago after graduating and staying with no job for over a year. I can’t even begin to tell you the blessings that still come with that tough decision of mine. America has treated me and my family much better than my own Country and that’s sad and painful for me to admit openly.
I will give you more tips but I have to go to work. Ok!

I have applied for the US visa up to 7 times in the past. So I will advise you from experience.

The US visa interview is dependent on how you can speak well and convince the visa officer that you will return to Nigeria after your visit. Its not about having heavy Bank statement or physical documents like the UK and Canadian consulate often require.

The following are important to them. Do you earn enough money in Nigeria to make this trip and return? Do you have a good travel history? Why were you refused the last time, has your status changed since that last refusal? What are the strong home ties that can convince them you will return home? Work on these things.

OP get back to the guy that invited you and ask him all it requires to get the US visa and other things that you need to know. He is in a better position to answer all your questions.

The US embassy doesn't need and won't reckon with an invitation letter to determine your case. So take the invitation letter with a pinch of salt. Also good luck getting an appointment date before the graduation date. You are looking at 12-15 months away to get an appointment

Since it's an invitation for an academic reasons, they will grant you visa. Oyibo dey like anything school and graduation. You never hear of student that k!lled himself because his mom couldn't attend his graduation?
