Former Napoli striker Gianluca Savoldi has expressed his disappointment with the recent comments made by Victor Osimhen regarding his “dream move” to the Premier League.

Speaking on TMW Radio’s “Piazza Affari” show as per Tutto Napoli, Savoldi suggested that the Nigerian striker should have waited a little longer before making such comments, given the current situation at the club.

“Naples is a city that thrives on football,” said Savoldi. “Just imagine what is happening right now. If I know Spalletti, he didn’t jump for joy hearing this statement either.”

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in a club-record deal in 2020 but struggled with injuries and form in his first two seasons in Italy.

But the Super Eagles striker has reached stratospheric levels this term, netting 19 Serie A goals. His brilliance has attracted interest from abroad, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly leading the pack of admiring English suitors.

While Napoli insists the club is not under any financial pressure to sell their best players this summer, Osimhen’s recent comments have energised the rumour mills.

In a recent video on Sky Sports, Osimhen expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, saying: “I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League one day.”

Savoldi, however, believes that such comments may not be well received by the Napoli faithful, especially given the current situation at the club.

Napoli are currently the runaway leader in Serie A and are favourites to land a first Scudetto title in more than three decades.

“It is human that Osimhen has the dream of going to play in the Premier League,” said Savoldi. “Perhaps, however, waiting a few weeks for these declarations would have made his words less noisy.”

Orban looks a special player however I'm also of the school of thought that it would be too soon to extend him a SE invite. In my opinion I think he should be allowed to fully settle playing top flight European football before we bring him to the senior national team. This will give adequate time to see if his form is a flash in the pan or the real deal. It's one thing to be naturally talented but the mentality of an elite player is a different kettle of fish and it's too early to judge if Gift has it only time will eventually reveal that.

If by next qualifiers in September he's still doing the business then by all means call him up.

Anyway, I don't expect him to make the list for this month games... The list might even be ready and just waiting to be made public.. You sure have a point that he should be given time to settle...But also, let's put in mind that no time is too early or too late for a player to be invited to his national team... performance is what matterd..

BTW, the next international break is in June...the European football season would be on break by then...

Denis will still play. I honestly had reservations about Aribo’s move to the saints. I still don’t know his position cm or str. When he moved I asked myself, is he suppose to contribute goals or assist to the saints ??

I have never rated onuachu, based on his style of play. Prolific, yes. But if he still plays like he does in the eagles, mehn, no case for him.

Coming to Dennis. He is a very good forward player. It’s not easy to play for that nforrest team with almost 20 other new signings. It’s time he needs. Time on the pitch and Dennis will blow. He is getting little time lately.

One of the reasons Ralph Hansel-Huttle signed Aribo then was because of how versatile he is. Now, he's even struggling to see time on the bench, talkless of coming in as a sub or starting.

Dennis on his own,I don't understand him. It's like he suddenly forgot how to play ball. I could remember how he was terrorizing teams then at Watford, even big teams like Chelsea, Man U and co.

You're right, that attitude problem is one of Dennis's problem. The guy has the body language of Bruno, but at least the later work hard for his team. Awoniyi's case is one that shows how hard work can make a difference for you. He struggled a little when he just Forest, but was always working hard and smiling, the rest is history.

I expected more from Dessers sha, I mean he was highest goal scorer in an UECL prior to that move. He's playing in the worst team in the league though, so may be they don't create enough chances.
