It's a lie, traders may not collect it but banks will do. It's a directive from CBN so why the banks won't comply??

seems alot of people don’t understand how the banking system works and you don’t even need to be a banker to know that only 6-10% of the total money exists. The rest is based on a trust system, that is to say that too much cash in circulation will collapse the banking system which almost did, the federal government just saved the banking system and in turn saved your money in the bank by removing excess cash away from the hands of holders. Money is not coming back, even the new one won’t be printed so everywhere better get use to cashless transfers.

The whole essence is to give room for those that stashed cash in their bunkers to bring it into the system. The struggle was never for the masses..Lol

The CBN does not intend to release old currencies again since it's fading out. It's now the responsibility of the governors to release the ones they stashed. Let's be patient, they will be in circulation from next week.

Well, if they are hoarding old notes, they can use them to buy votes anyhow because even CBN has finally allowed the use of old notes.

That announcement from CBN has more or less opened the door... Matter of fact, continuing the general currency scarcity will increase cases of vote buying.

Old notes are no longer in large quantity because many of them have been shredded.

This is the main problem.

I don't even see the whole point of injecting the old notes into circulation when the CBN can simply print the new ones. It's not making any sense at all. Why can't the CBN print more new notes since January?? Why the insistence on the old notes? How can anyone believe that a CBN that failed to print/release new notes for whatever reasons will suddenly flood the market with the old notes?

The few old notes (N200/N100) have become rotten. You'll always have to wash your hands every hour.
