I was like you . I only wear boots and shoes. Then moved to naija and I swore never to be like the guys wearing slippers. It just looks feminine for a man to be showing his toes. And I stuck to my guns for a while but boy these Nigerian temperatures have changed my outlook in life. I now wear slippers everywhere. Too hot for shoes. my 400 thousand naira each boots just dey collect dust

guyz..this habit has been on and off during my teenage years and mom cautioned us against not wearing a foot wear ( shoe particularly) so we dont get peirced by sharp object..we end up weari g them to bed most of the time..and sh comes to remove them

...during my varsity days..in economics department it was mandatory to always wear shoes or sandals by both male nd female, as pam slippers are banned. i prefered shoe cuz of our outlook which usually resemble bankers outlook ( of course pam will make a nonsense of it..

watching movies , also news i noticed that Nigerians aare the only people on earth aside the arabs dt dont wear shoes..so it solidified my stance..many atimes i see guyz return from abroad and hardky can move around without wearing good shoes...

i wore shoes for straight 4years in my varisty days

after skl.. interviews days outlook and of course most of my school like clothing became my norm..i hv since gotten adicted to shoes dat i salivate on seeing good ones..

currently i tend to see ppl ( especially guys ) who dont wear shoe as shabily dressed and nomata what they wear and how expensive it is....they look like well dressed tout..

please am.i normal..?

i mean like i wear shoes like 90% of the time..only in my compound or neighborhood do i wear pam slippers..and i hate to buy them

it lead me to ask the question...why are Nigerians not wearing shoes most of the time...?

I wear shoes always, even around my hood, but I wanted to free my feet a bit more so I started wearing half covered footwears and sandals and I wear them with socks.

Your problem is inferiority complex. The Arabs are very proud of their dressing that is why the world respect and admire their dress sense
This is Nigeria, the weather is hot. Why will you were a shoe? INFERIORITY COMPLEX

When the purpose of a thing is not known the abuse is inevitable

Nigeria have one of the the best cultural outfit but we are not proud of it. We should Learn from the Arab

Looking official is different from looking smart.

You can look smart without wearing shoes, trousers or packing shirts.

You are normal. Wearing a shoe, formal or casual, makes you look smarter, or more appealing than a non shoe-wearing bloke anytime.

My friends were laughing at me in my undergraduate days, just to buy salt from the next street and I am on sandal, I do not wear slippers, I don't buy slippers no matter how fine they look, I have only cover shoes and sandals. So wen i need to stroll I have to wear a sandal because there is nothing simple to wear, Las Las you are not alone😂

Yeah you're definetely normal.
Reverse is the case for me though.
But ofcourse i do fancy wearing shoes on special occasions.
Re: I Am Addicted To Wearing Shoes by Greystone: 5:58pm On Mar 15, 2023
Same here.
I always wear shoes- black leather ones preferably. It helps that I own a car though.
I have only one pair of black palm sandals which I only wear like once in 2 or 3 months with trad. Lol. I really dislike exposing my toes. Most other times, I wear trads with my corporate shoes (Oxfords or Derbys).
When you said “addicted to shoes” I assumed you meant buying shoes.
I’m a guy but I have over 25 shoes presently. This month alone I’ve bought 3. I got the last one (a pair of black drivers) around noon today.
I love good quality shoes.

To be honest, I don't like wearing shoes. It makes me so uncomfortable. Especially wearing shoes with heels.

Maybe because I'm already tall.

I prefer wearing flats anyday anytime. It makes me comfortable.

You are right on something. I also noticed it that most men who live abroad and come back to Nigeria always wear canvas anytime they are going out.

When my Uncle who live in USA came back two years ago, baba must always wear his canvas anytime he is going out. Even just to buy something in the next street, he must put it on. Same with his younger brother too who lives there. It's like it's their style.
