For the "Lagos is no man's land" crew, my response about the topic on another thread:

A001:
The indigenes or natives of Lagos State are the people of the Awori, Ilaje, Egun/Ogu people. The Awori are the original inhabitants of Lagos State and are believed to have been the first settlers in the area. The Egun are a group of people who migrated to Lagos from the Republic of Benin, and the Ogu are a subgroup of the Yoruba people who are native to Lagos State.

In addition to these indigenous groups, Lagos State is home to people from other parts of Nigeria, as well as a large expatriate community made up of people from all over the world. Lagos is known for its diversity and is often referred to as a "melting pot" of cultures.

Awori, Ilaje, and Egun/Ogu are all subgroups of the Yoruba ethnic group. Those are the original owners of Lagos, and it is not debatable.

It's a history many Lagosians know.

Anything agriculture also depend on security with all these herdsmen issue. I am thinking of it this way, We are not able to feed ourselves yet with some of our edibles coming from imports especially rice. We cannot export what we are still lacking at home to eat

I know a few people who are into cashew processing even our chairman here bimfo is a millionaire in it but if its not machanized too, it will be difficult to scale

There is also a consideration about processing all those rice and almonds too

I know there was a big rice push by Buhari with our population size I dunno if we can produce enough to feed half our population before we talk of exporting to generate income. Well if we are able to feed ourselves we can save on Forex for export

Customer service, Don't you think the reputation of Nigeria will make many companies overlook us as a destination if they can do the same with Philippines, India with reduced risk
I know for a fact that Microsoft and GoDaddy have customer service operations in Nigeria right now.

I was having some issues with my personal domain emails 2 weeks ago, and was shocked when I got customer service agents calling me with Yankee number from Microsoft who could pronounce my first name properly. I asked dude and he told me he was calling from Nigeria where he works. The very next day, someone from GoDaddy called me...he too could pronounce my name, he too was from Naija.

Lagos is a Yoruba land and guess what? I’m Yoruba. A full fledged one.

I know it eats you up badly that you are not Yoruba, you must sleep and have wet dreams about Yoruba land. Sorry to wake you up from your delusions, no matter how much you dream about it, Yorubas own Lagos and I’m a proud one.

If me and you come out tomorrow to contest election tomorrow in Lagos, we all know who they will tell to go back to his village. It definitely ain’t me. cheesy

ERASING AFRICAN RICH HISTORY

Africa has a hidden history that has been erased from school textbooks around the world. Many people falsely assume that Africa was primitive before European colonial invasion.

They believe the fallacy that it was a place of no cities, empires, commerce and in other words, no civilisation. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Africa has a rich and in depth pre-colonial history of magnificent and unspoken wealthy and developed empires and kingdoms.

In the 12th Century, the Mali Empire was larger than Western Europe and regarded as one of the wealthiest states in the world.

The Mali Empire existed between c1230 to c1600. Ancient pre-colonial art shows the African King Musa dressed in fine clothing and gold.

The Mali Empire consisted of many libraries and Islamic universities and was known as the academic hub of Africa. There are records of Ancient Mali that go as far back as 1068 and archeological evidence shows that Mali was an established civilisation since the 6th Century.

The genealogy of Mali’s kings can be traced as far back as the 10th century. In 1893 the French explorers came back and colonised Timbuktu, stealing and destroying buildings, documents and books.

Some remnants of the ancient manuscripts can still be found in French museums.

Dig deep enough into historical archives and you will find that the African Kingdom of Kongo was one of the largest empires in Africa with a population of over half a million inhabitants, centuries before colonialists set foot on the continent.

The Kongo had a centralised political state that was advanced in farming, metalwork, weaving and textiles.

The Kongo empire spread over the entire West Africa region (which consists of 18 countries today) and had developed cities with houses, communal areas and had an established legal system.

By 1500 BC, the Kingdom of Kongo was trading with other countries by exporting leather, gold, textiles and cattle. In 1914 the Portuguese overthrew the Kingdom of Kongo, having destroyed the empire.

The Kingdom of Benin was a pre-colonial empire that spread through the region, now Nigeria.

The Kingdom (not to be confused with the country Benin) was known as one of the most developed states in ancient Africa, trading in bronze, gold, ivory and iron.

Documents recording political activity in the Kingdom of Benin go as far back as the 1200s and the city was founded in 1180 BC, according to historical records. Walls surrounded the city and they had a military force to protect its inhabitants.

In 1485 Portuguese and British explorers arrived and started stealing and enslaving civilians through the promise of work abroad.

The Ashanti Empire dominated East Africa in the 1600s – 1800s. The Empire was under the rule of the Ashanti King Osei Tutu, who had established a parliament, government, legal system and military.

Before the 1600s the Ashanti Empire existed as many various states of the Akan people. The empire had an abundance of gold that was used for trading with the other African regions, long before European colonialists had ever stepped foot in the region.

Ashanti architecture was breathtaking, with furniture carved from ivory and wood, they had chairs made out of gold and walls were adorned with tribal patterns, mosaic and bright colors.

In 1884 the grandest palace in the region was burnt down by the British colonialists after the Anglo-Ashanti war. Many of the beautiful pieces of Ashanti furniture and jewels that were stolen, remain in European museums today.

Historical evidence shows us that pre-colonial Africa had multiple empires that existed, trading gold, textiles and spices with each other.

We see how the locals, along with their governmental system and commerce, had built vast cities with unique African architecture.

The notion that Europeans “bought civilisation to Africa” is perhaps one of the greatest myths of the century.

It is clear that Africa was abundant and wealthy continent with African rulers who governed their kingdoms, which were burnt, destroyed and brought to ruin by the colonial settlers who tried to claim the cities and empires as their own.

Africa has a phenomenal pre-colonial history that includes law and academia, something that school textbooks fail to mention.

The African furniture and jewellery that we see was created by Africans, having never been inspired by Europeans.

However, that never made Africa inferior, in fact it was because Africa was so superior in the abundance of gold, minerals and textiles that the European colonialists sought to destroy and discredit its legacy.
Africans built powerful, functional societies in the past before they were conquered and enslaved by the Europeans and Arabs.

In modern times, the continent is unable to replicate the same feat due to colonization and slavery and the tools of both — Christianity and Islam.

Hopefully, in the future, more and more Africans recognize the evils of these religions, which are political tools of Western and Arab subjugation, and Africans can build functional societies once more.

Omo! You get serious beef with religion oo. grin grin

But these history lessons you gave right now are things that are already largely know. The kingdoms of Benin, borno, Ashanti, mali etc.

But the truth is that they have no relevance to our world today. Those kingdoms were defeated by the Europeans because they were more culturally united, hence technologically advanced than us.

But one thing is certain, colonialism is no more the predominant factor behind our stagnation and retrogression.

It is our docility of the masses towards it's leaders and the crop of leaders they have.
Religion is a secondary issue because the vast majority of the world are religious too and you have both rich and poor religious countries.

It's the older Africans that know these histories. Only few young Africans know the history of Africa and the rich history of those kingdoms.

Most Africans don't read and don't know history.

You, for instance, are a good example shouting "Lagos is a no man's land" all about because people like you don't know (and never cared to know) the history of Lagos.

On this thread, you said all African cultures are savage and barbaric. That shows you don't know the history of Africa, and the little you know is from the books of history written by Western authors with many lies and half-truths.

Then, your knowledge of history is limited since you think the Europeans were united culturally in the past. I can see you assume millions of Europeans spoke English language in the past as we've it in the modern times.

Lols. That's far from the truth. In the past, in the pre-colonial era, English wasn't so popular like today, and the Britons themselves had been colonized by the Roman Empire.

Also, in the past, the Europeans fought many wars among themselves, just like Africans did.

The single most important factor that made colonization and slavery successful was the superior military technology that the Portuguese, Britons, French, Germans, and others from Europe had.

Yes, there were a few alliances here and there on the side of the invaders and slavers, just like there were on the home (African) side, too, but without the superior military technology of those countries from Europe, the foreigners would have been defeated.

Moving forward, Africans need to embrace science and technology and know the evils of Christianity and Islam, which are mere political tools of the West and Arabs.

Those foreign religions are a crucial aspect in the success of colonization and slavery in Africa.

Only those whose knowledge of history is very limited, like you, don't know this simple fact.

Must commend the guys collecting taxes in Lagos and I’m sure they’ll do better.

Said it the other day many people don’t pay tax…. 30,000 Naira per year from 1million people is about 30bill if my maths is correct….Now imagine if we increase that number
You are right on this.

Nigeria's tax net is too thin. Anybody saying otherwise does not know what he/she is saying. Nobody is saying Nigerians are undertaxed but the number of working people paying tax is too low.

If Nigeria's tax net is expanded to cover more persons, the country revenue will surely grow but it won't make any difference anyway because Nigeria's government of all levels is too incompetent. They will end up using the money to recruit more civil servants to come and do nothing, basically just a welfare program. Different white elephant projects tailored to cater for nothing specifically will also be embarked on, then they will loot the rest.

I think I have made this point before.
This is correct, first this would significantly reduce the cost of governance across board.

You know the desire to create more states was borne out of 3 factors. First and foremost, historical disagreements between neighboring communities, tribes or groups, 2, political conquest of some groups as seen on SE\SS and 3 an avenue for politicians to chop money.

The nigerian state has to be downsized for easier administration of the country.

Enugu, Anambra and ebonyi can easily be one state. Ekiti, Oyo,Ogun too. Also Edo and delta.

It's easier for long term plans to be made for each state's not one where all states have soo many different agendas.

You said sometime ago and I qoute "The black race is much less intelligent than the other races. That's a fact".
Should I understand your belief of the intellectual inferiority of our race to be based on religion alone?

is it preposterous to believe that we have such level of religiousity because of our economic situation and not the other way around? Religion is the opium of the masses after all.

Do you believe under ideal economic and social conditions people will be less inclined to be religious?

They won't.
The Muslim Muslim ticket was a political decision, not a religious one, and giving senate presidency to a Christian is still a political decision.
Parties have the purview of making political decisions, the masses will then prove just how right or wrong those decisions were.
