My printer power pack blew. I was getting ridiculous charges to replace what is a cheap power pack and then I remembered the device should be under warranty. I took it to the hp office in Ikeja. They first held it for a day while they confirmed it was an original hp product. Apparently most of the new hp printers in pc village are refurb reassembled repackaged and sold as new

I did not buy my printer from pc village, so it passed. Like so many things in Nigeria, unless you have insider knowledge you will be buying shit. When the appliance starts having issues you will be told different ridiculous stories.

if you have a home office and plan on buying a printer brand new in lagos - just go to office r us at megaplaza off adeola odeku. you can do your cost research - their printers are either the same price or 2-3k above the rate on jiji and co. the difference however is that you know for sure you are buying a brand new printer, not one used knocked together system.

the issue with all these dodgy devices

1) as stated earlier, if they have an issue, you will start hearing different stories from the seller and they will do their utmost best to put the blame on you for the rubbish item they sold to you

2) when there are firmware updates, you will casually run them and next thing your system will be in an unusable state and unable to rollback

of course, this is all up to you. you have to decide what your risk appetite is. the hope and expectation of most of these hustlers is that you are a basic user one who will never really put the device/shoe/watch/pc to serious use, in which case the flaws will never manifest.

there are also some other items i would advise you buy from there - eg flash drives and sd cards.those are guaranteed original. there are a lot of fake sd cards out there and what happens is one day maybe immediately, maybe in a month, you cannot write data to them.
