not really, that's how an American will say it. While the British will say "weren't coming."
American English is corrupted, just as our pidgin or Jamaican patua is a corrupted form of English. the only reason American English is generally accepted is because ofthe reputation of America.

He said he lost the money. If he buys a land, build it, then he does not lose the money cos he can always sell it off and recoup his investment. You don't need 500 mil to start a club

43Ronin:
All of you saying AY is lying. How much is Land in a prime place like Lagos(Vi/Lekki) or Asokoro, maitama, garki, wuse? Do you know the cost of building materials? If detached duplexes in Lekki axis can be going for 150 to 200 mil without furniture, how much do you think a club will cost, with sound systems, interior decor etc. Guys that is to show you that APC has destroyed the value of our currency

Bottom line is that, people will always place so much value on immorality over morality......

If you're a moral person in Nigeria, the only club you can open is a reading club. Even then, most people won't come because they hate reading too.

If you want to be moral, run away from anything club or else, you'd be mocking yourself.

Build factories.

Where are the 'build factories' crew always harassing churches? Here is a good place to scream it. Lack of clubbing has never killed anyone.
Very good point of view…

About building factories. Factories should be encouraged!

I seriously wish I can see one now. My dad opened a guest house with no sales of alcohol and cigarettes, we hardly see customers. I'm thinking of what to do

He should equally add no couple without marriage certificate allowed.

How many Nigerian languages can you speak, read and write
There is no pride in speaking another's language perfectly and no shame in not doing so

I was making a clarification.

I did not at anytime deride Nigerian languages or the ability to speak them, and for your information I'm fluent in 2 major Nigerian languages!

Not just any type of smoke but hard drugs like, egbo, tramadol, Shisha, cocaine.
It is good that he didn't allow smoking because if ndlea bust the club, dem go say AY is a drug pusher but using comedy to cover up.

Tramadol’s a pain-killer and cannabis is a plant. If it’s to get properly buzzed on medical drugs there’s lorazepam and I guess gabapentin to some extent (not that it really does much). How’s man going to tell me that a cancer-curing green plant is a harder drug all-in-all than bloody tobacco?

I am thinking…

The “no smoking “ wasn’t the only reason the club didn’t float.

Not everyone is cut out for business. Many things could have been responsible. The “ no smoking” tag could even be a selling point!

Lmao.. For where? Even bars that sell alcohol and do ashewo never sell finish sef.

Bone that thing. Night club owners and police are friends, in fact partners. There is no happening night club without drugs. Even in Yankee or Jandon, nightclubs and drugs are like fish and water.

Nightclub without smoke, drugs and olosho, that one don turn to church way dey do night vigil.

The truth is that the non smoking club it's a great idea, good for networking,

You nailed it when you said he would have gotten a business manager who understands the business with proper advertisement the idea would have worked.

He shouldn't have made the whole place non smoking. He should have created a non-smoking lounge

Am more curious but the fact that what motivated him him to open the club was the smell of smoke frm his wife's hair whenever they returned frm the club.

This guy is a comedian

Why not get business manager to manage his business. Professional business managers know exactly what to do to make it function well.
As non smoking is not working, he suppose to allow smoking.
He can just hire it to club handlers to manage it for some time with different name if needed.

AY, please, listen to the business advisor above👍.

Only in a restaurant will such rules apply, but a club? And more specifically, a Nigerian club?

This is what happens when a comedian becomes a business man. Lots of business idea I have in my head, but after market research, I seperate my feelings from reality.

Clubbing in Nigeria is not for the average nigerians who don't smoke, but for the tiny percentage whom are over-exposed, probably wayward, foreign, and that percentage have the highest amount of smokers.

And they probably have money, which will attracts ashawos who smokes, and boom, business is moving.

Not everyone who goes to clubs/bars smoke…

Some don’t go because of smoking. And some bars have “smoking only “ sections.

Looking at it that way is narrow… I know areas where if you open a smoking bar your business will collapse. No body will patronize you.

Everything is about business strategy and knowledge of your prospective customers/business environment.

It is you that will find a way to market and attract the kind of crowd you want!

Might it be because you were running a non-smoking night club based on a smoking night club market model?

Don't blame the customers, blame your product or it's delivery.
Re: AY: I Lost N500 Million Opening A Non-Smoking Night Club by CodeTemplar: 4:07pm On Mar 31, 2023
Why not just build factories for non alcoholic product because no one will leave their house to pay for what they can do at home easily in a place they can't do what they avoid doing at home.
