Just go on YouTube and search William lin or neal wu , you will get what I'm talking about... Don't waste yaaa mathematics talent. Trust me if you're Good at that stuff, your life don better. Mathematicians may be preferred for certain roles only. There are so many departments in banking where they may not be best suited, especially market-facing departments.

Why?
They are useful in more than one department of the banking sector.

They don’t care.
If you have a 2.1 and above from a reputable institution, below 24-26, pass the entry test, interview and training sch, they will employ you.

They don’t necessarily prefer Mathematicians.
That is only on your head.

The only exception is for specialised units. Which is less than 20% of the workforce. Most are branch staff.

Science students do better in the test and training because they are good at Maths, but when the jam a business student that knows his/her onions…maybe chartered. They will know the difference between 6 and half dozen.

Exactly.

Don't say that, everything is not about IOI...Errichto started at 15 years old and he's won Google code jam once and came second place in another, won lots of code forces rounds, and Google kick-start rounds.. Which Nigeria parent do you think would allow their children access computers at 5 or 10 years old?

There are several reasons why a mathematician might be employed in a bank job rather than someone who studied banking:

Analytical Skills: A mathematician is trained in logical and analytical thinking, which is an essential skill in the banking industry. Banks deal with large amounts of data and complex financial models, which require a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

Quantitative Analysis: Mathematics is the foundation of quantitative analysis, which is used extensively in banking. A mathematician's expertise in statistics, probability theory, and numerical analysis can help banks make informed decisions about investments, risk management, and other financial activities.

Innovation: A mathematician's approach to problem-solving can bring a fresh perspective to the banking industry. They are trained to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.

Transferable Skills: The skills learned in a mathematics degree are transferable to many different fields, including banking. Mathematicians are known for their ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations, making them a valuable asset in any industry.

Overall, a mathematician's skills and expertise can be highly beneficial to the banking industry, especially when it comes to complex financial modeling, risk management, and innovative problem-solving

Nonsense.
There are so many departments in Banks.
I studied economics

You as a mathematician. I'm very sure you don't even know banks engage in Mortgage banking and some finances.

Do you even know banking laws? Do you know corporate banking? Do you know development banking? Islamic banking?
You funny.

banks gives all persons equal opportunity during aptitude test and interviews.it is not true that they give preference to mathematicians or engrs.na who pass their tests dem de employ's note that persons that studied business related courses have the chance of growing faster because they will not find difficult when doing professional exams

all these are book keeping skills. Risk assessment is still slightly beyond the average mathematician.

Omo the number we work on everyday is crazy plus the pressure both internal and external..

If you aren't an analytical thinker you won't cope..

Most time I work without break from 9-5
