All the 3 candidates said they were going to remove subsidy during the campaign.

Wait make Tinubu enter and remove the subsidy and see how they will begin to blame APC people as if the principal they supported didn’t subscribe to it.

Me myself is even against the subsidy removal
If Tinubu removes it without any effective plan to curb the negative effect, then he should be roasted and cooked.

If Obi won and same thing happens, I'm sure una go roast am as well.

Leave twitter. Haven't you been to government hospitals before.

21 plus hours a day, everyday. Is not common.

Do the breakdown for me, because I never understand this your number oh

Yeah, she has. I just asked her and she told me they actually contacted her that it was ready last December, but she wasn't in the country. That is still about 2.5yrs since retirement though. According to her it takes about 2 years to move up the waitlist so i suspect 2021 retirees are yet to be paid. Na turn by turn.

Another thing is that Lagos State short-changed them. Their colleagues who retired in other states like Ogun, Oyo, Ondo e.t.c are getting far more. Something to do with one conversion they did some years back (around 2007) in the pension scheme. Several millions disappeared into the air for everybody when they moved over to contributory pension.

Wawu. How people money go take disappear into thin air?

It is just 5 years indeed.
You're shit out of luck. Your wait times will increase from hours to days. You never see anything yet.
I remember the time i did hydroxyl surgery at Luth in 2011, i was booked for surgery in March. I got to the hospital at the due date, but was told that my surgery has been shifted to May. From May it was shifted against to July and eventually to December when it was finally done. That was the same year Luth did its first Kidney transplant but the patient sadly died days after. If it was a terminal illness, i for don die since. Our hospitals are a total mess and Doctors are overwhelmed. No country is perfect but our politicians are just evil people....

This subsidy talk.
Omo I've always said it has to be removed ASAP.
FG has again had alot of time to sort this out.

I was hoping we would by now be benefitting from the Siemens power deal but as usual nothing.

And as usual na common man go beat the brunt of FG stupidity.

That is what happened. Most of the money that had accrued to them before contributory pension started was somehow lost. Those that were hardest hit were those that had worked many years before 2007. It is not out of the ordinary for a pensioner in Lag to be getting half what his/her Ogun partner is getting. The more your work experience predated 2007 the bigger your loss.

They will bring budget to employ 150 residents, one big man in Abuja will embezzle half the money and 50 people will be doing the work of 150

But they should do it for five years to prove their commitment

What about ensuring that doctors are paid proper allowances, have adequate equipment, and have much better work conditions. The people will benefit this way.

Trying to force them to stay back will ultimately not benefit anyone.

Doc, this is what I have been trying to tell Dayo. We can’t eat our cake and have it. We can’t fail doctors who are by far one of the most important if not the most important and still tell them they can’t travel in a competitive market. What is 250K in a country with double digit inflation?

Between incessant strikes and accreditation issues, doctors spend 3 extra years in school, so what gives? Spending 5 years to pay back what? Were the fees agreed upon before admission as subsidized? If proponents of this bill don’t want doctors leaving them compel our politicians to fix the healthcare system in 5 years!

The world is now a global and competitive market. Few days ago @ibime was sharing how he is being recruited from out of UK for his skills. If you are a doctor in Nigeria ala Unlimited22, my brother, I know it is not easy, abeg find way comot, you are too young to sacrifice 5 years of your life. If you need my help abeg reach out.

These people are wicked! I see them here!! They come here and enjoy the system, return home and don’t care if doctors are payed peanuts. Who brags about paying doctors 250K in a volatile and unstable economy like Nigeria? We have not talked about bad working conditions, insecurity, strikes and lack of systems and amenities. We have not talked about pension, gratuities and other benefits!

1. If work many for Nigeria wey them fit call you by 3am, why are those ones not included in the bill?

2. You think being called by 3am is the same as managing full wards (sometimes more than one) with critically ill patients everywhere, all constantly needing attention?

3. The bill is Aimed at young doctors. You think they can not appear at work for three days?

Let us understand that doctors have being the ones screaming about this brain drain since.

I remember aproko doctor talking about how the ratio of doctors to population in Nigeria has gotten worse.. Nobody said a word.

Lmao

The effects of bad leadership over the years Don come jam us.

Subsidy Don Hook FG.
Brain drain for health sector Don Hook FG.

Lets see the next one that will hook FG.
Maybe when God forbid our oil has been depleted to the point you will have less functional oil Wells.. Then just maybe the government will take issues seriously.

Some government doctors have their own private hospitals which they give their attention to. I don't blame them for this. If I were a doctor and I have the money. I will do the same.

If you are scared of losing doctors, then fix the system! Make your system competitive against developing countries at least, not even the West!

Why are they not sponsoring bills to better the working conditions of Nigerian doctors? Why are we wicked in Nigeria for God’s sakes!

Even with the lack of data, our clinical outcomes are shameful, now imagine if we had reliable data! The poor are already living in bondage, this bill will not resolve anything just like the new Naira policy..

Nothing concern me with the bill. I am speaking about some government hospital doctors.

Doctors will do anything to push their interest.

Even those ones that don't come to work regularly will echo the same thing. No be Nigerians?
