Calabar and Akwa ibom people, the most barbaric and primitive people you can ever find, what do you expect from people that eat dogs? πŸ• 😑
Primitive can't even begin to describe those Calabar people. So backward a people.

Everyday for the thief, a day for the owners.

Jungle don mature before him now.

A chicken has come home to roost...

If your precious belongings has been stolen before, you will have little or no sympathy for these dudes from afar.

But I can't afford to witness such barbaric practices of setting them ablaze. I will walk.

Jungle justice is the proceed of a failed Policing system and Nigeria's not in the direction of getting it right anytime soon
And is only in a case of petty-stealing that people tend to show thier power and vent thier anger.

Mob action did not start in Nigeria, the west have been hanging criminals before their judicial system became matured.

So because we now have internet today, then our own is now barbaric. We need to continue with jungle Justice, until we are matured enough.
with all due respect, your comment is very foolish and inhumane Ser!

Ogun ritualist if you want to dare us, come to Akwa Ibom or Cross River to steal if you will not have that your smelly body burnt to ashes and your useless ashes used to fertilize our farms.
Who is more primitive than animals who kill themselves everyday in that your useless region.

That Same cheap android that the thief can kill his victim if the victim had delayed him few minutes

From the story he was just a petty thief and not armed. He was also just suspected and not caught in the act so he might have been innocent in this case. The way you guys comprehend things these days Y'all acting saints. Is your incoming president not a former drug Lord. If he had been killed during his prime Nigeria would have missed some of his notable contribution to politics and nation building. This dude was still young so he had mmany years to turn a new leaf.

The Cross River State Police Command has condemned the jungle justice meted out to a suspected Phone thief in Calabar.

The Suspect identified simply as Eyo, aged 22, was set on fire by an angry mob on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Esu Street, off Edim Otop Street, Atimbo, Calabar Municipality LGA of the state.

According to an eyewitness, Eyo had allegedly stolen an android phone the previous evening and fled, only to return the next morning and meet his tragic fate.

Residents claim Eyo, who resided around the Second transformer in Inyanghasang, had been involved in petty theft for a long time.

β€œI have known Eyo since secondary school, he has always been stealing, there was a time he stole half of the class school fees. Even as we grew into our 20s, Eyo became audacious in stealing and more notorious, he was always caught stealing, this is not the first time a mob tried to mob him, it’s unfortunate that he got unlucky today,” a source told Vanguard.

"They started beating him with cutlasses and gave him deep cuts before setting him ablaze. Funny enough, it’s just for stealing an Android phone,” the source added.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident, stated that it is illegal for anyone to take laws into their hands.

Ugbo added that the right thing to do would have been to report the suspect to the nearest police station and hand him over, rather than killing him in such a gruesome manner.

"The mob action against the suspect was illegal, barbaric and highly unacceptable, he should have been handed over to the police,” she added.

Jungle justice is condemnable and barbaric we don't have to put laws into our hand it's very bad. We should have done the needful by handing him over to the police to face the rant of the law for committing such crime.

There's nothing unjust about this...in that same edim otop,my phone supernaturally disappeared in the early hours of a Monday morning...imagine the crazy feeling of going to sleep with your phone and waking up not able to see your phone again...I was thrown off balance and couldn't do my work properly that day...I knew how hurt and painful I felt that period...it wasn't JUST for me to lose my phone that way
