See as he is fat-feeding on the the one Nigeria criminal enterprise that have unjustly skewed to suit the egocentric interests of these useless politicians. Have this fool ever legislate against Buhari, Tinubu, going to seek healthcare outside this nation? When did he legislate for healthcare facilities in LUTH, FMCs and other tertiary institutions to be upgraded? Does he even seek healthcare in Nigeria? They kicked against the one barring their children schooling oversea but wants to stop prospective skilled young Nigerians to japa. Una dey ment. 2 Likes |

Supported. The redemption of our nation begins with each of us and the sacrifice we each make. 5 Years Before Going Abroad Doctors Bill: A Clinical Stitch In Time Nigeria's House of Representatives in its tweet on 6 April, announced that a bill sponsored by Rep Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson to prevent Nigerian-trained medical or dental practitioners from being granted full licences until they have worked for a minimum of five years in the country has passed second reading at the Nigerian House of Representatives https://twitter.com/HouseNGR/status/1643996023885533184?s=20 My First Reaction At last! It came late since I wrote to recommend that this law be passed for years now but it is still better it is coming this late than never. I support this bill be passed as law and the President must quickly assent to the law for immediate implementation and subsequent domestication by every state of the federation . Cuba has such a law and it worked for all government-trained doctors as they require official persmission to relocate overseas after being trained by the Cuban government https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cuba-usa-migrants-healthcare-idUSKBN0TK58B20151201 The unregulated exit of Nigerian government-trained doctors here in our country has almost crashed the system yet there are several reports and complaints that they are being enslaved overseas. https://punchng.com/nigerian-doctors-in-uk-lament-exploitation-slave-labour/ Will The Law Be Effective? The way the law will be effective is to delay the process from when medical induction oath taking takes place to when you recieve provisional and full permanent medical license to practice as a medical doctor. All travels by those set of doctors covered by the law will be required to get official permission from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for travel within that period and the list to be shared with the Legislature and Immigration service on a periodic basis. The law will make defaulters who flout the 5-year moratorium liable to conviction if they leave Nigeria to permanently reside and transfer their tax-expense acquired skillset to a foreign country before 5 years. Anyone still doubting if this law will work should ask any professional this rhethorical question : You do not want a criminal record as a professional or would you want to be prosecuted? The ship has set sail and the rest of the loose ends will be sorted out even though I suggest that this law be accelerated. What Are Nigerians Saying? There are two courts in the land, the more powerful one is the court of public opinion in the scheme of sociological perspectives. Those who ignore the power of public opinion later realised too late. There are some erstwhile powerful trade unions that underestimated the power of public opinion and today not enjoying the public sympathy. That is why I am staying on the fundamental and basic question of "Must the taxpayers lose on all sides?" I am not about 'whataboutism'. Like this problem of young doctors leaving immediately after training which remained unaddressed until now, I believe that one day, the issue of paying huge subsidies on petrol and electricity to only a set of Nigerians while millions of other Nigerians without roads and electricity have no equivalent subsidy yet forced by the system to pickup the social cost and burden of the debt and fiscal capture of state resources for a privileged compatriots will get to this level of national bill too. Everyone of those with elitist education seem to want to take advantage of the system and when you ask them a basic question on why should a tax payer train you and when you finish your training you immediately take your skill to another country, what I recieve are cocky answers telling me "whatabout" so so so and so in response. To make it mandatory for young medical doctors to stay back at least 5 years after being trained with tax payers money is not too much to ask from you if you attend government universities where your education was heavily subsidized. Right Family Values On Decline. Parents who scatter their homes and raise children who grow up to run far away from home are on trial as well. It is not just the young professionals using the japa syndrome as smokescreen. It is abnormal and dysfunctional for a young man and/or woman to finish school and immediately want to move several thousand kilometres away from his parents and deny those who trained him of his skill. It is against natural justice and these young professionals will lose. In my opinion, https://www.nairaland.com/7646704/5-years-before-going-abroad full article here https://saharareporters.com/2023/04/07/5-years-going-abroad-doctors-bill-clinical-stitch-time-sunkanmi-vaughan |

When will a bill be passed for political office holders to stop going abroad for treatment? Never. But when you talk, some idiots will play tribal cards. Where's their Thief right now? In one hospital abroad I believe. Yet they will never spend those billions to improve the lives of their medical practioners here in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Racoon: So after sponsoring my cousin at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing Ihiala, this lawmaker think she will have no right to seek better professional opportunities outside Nigeria after graduation?🙄 Let them use the money they waste on foreign medical treatments to build more Nursing schools as there are thousands of Nigerian youths very eager to study Nursing and Nigeria can export their skills. Kenya's then President in 2021, went to the UK and signed an agreement with the then PM, Boris Johnson to have UK officially recruit from Kenya , thousands of their unemployed nurses through the Kenya Government, who would get their cut on each Kenyan nurse recruited. 1 Like |

Are they really thinking? They should first pass a bill to stop themselves from accessing medical treatment abroad, to stop their children from education abroad. Once that is done, then we will know they mean business. Set of confused agbero in the State House of Assembly Fact check he is APC..They are not rational thinking beings. |

Everything about APC as a party is evil. Can't Nigerian youths see that APC is an evil party with a mission to destroy Nigerian youths in the guise of trying to make Nigeria better? These foolish APC political leaders and actors are not even thinking of passing laws or bills to stop elected office holders and other government officials from going abroad to seek for medical care which would make politicians invest more in Nigerian health sector and boost the sector and make it more lucrative for the medical professionals, thereby naturally discouraging Nigerian medical professionals from even thinking of migrating abroad for greener pastures. Instead they are thinking like witches and wizards that hate progress of their citizens and countrymen and women, na wa oh. Just take a look at the thinking of an APC lawmaker, very useless set of people. Nigeria have a population of over 200 million and youths are the majority. Nigeria have one of the worst graduate unemployment rate in the world where graduates struggle to find job after spending years in higher institutions. These fools aren't bothered about this crazy youth unemployment pandemic, instead they are worried about youths migrating abroad for greener pastures. Don't these foolish political office holders know that if not for Nigerians in Diaspora, Nigeria's economy would have collapsed like that of Bangladesh ? The foreign direct and indirect remittances from Nigerians in diaspora is one of the reasons the foolishness of Nigerian leaders haven't buried Nigeria completely. Why can't these guys think smart? Why cant these guys think of a way to harness these hot demand of medical professionals in western countries and help Nigerians? Why not start encouraging more Nigerian pupils to study science from Secondary school using career guidance and counselors so that Nigeria will have more salable professionals that can be exported abroad to boost our dead economy? Encourage more secondary school pupils to study science, tell universities to increase admission quota for Medical, Nursing, Radiography, Pharmacy, etc departments. Upgrade these departments and faculties, hire more lecturers, build more Nursing schools and churn out more of Nursing, Medical, etc graduates than allowing Nigerian children to be wasting time and scarce money studying marketing, public admin, mass communication, botany, petrochemical engineering, political science, accounting, law, and other unproductive, outdated courses that add no real value to Nigeria's economy at the present. Lets emulate wise countries like India, Philippines, Kenya, etc who have secretly made it a national project to become highest producers and exporters of medical and technology professionals which is helping their economies grow faster? Must we become enemy of progress in this country? These medical professionals migrating abroad to work are saviors to their suffering families in Nigeria, most of them are the only reason their family members in Nigeria haven't been wiped out by Buhari/APC's induced hunger and poverty, they are helping Nigeria's economy a lot, why stop them instead of harnessing the opportunity to help more Nigerians wasting away jobless in Nigeria after graduation? Na wa oh, seems only fools get into political leadership positions in Nigeria oh, kai millions of Nigerian youths are idle, jobless, and wasting away after graduation, those that fortunately find a job are underpaid and can barely survive even as they are working because their monthly pay isn't even enough to transport them to and fro work, and then there is a huge opportunity abroad for medical professionals to work and earn good income and become useful to themselves, family members, friends and community. Instead of these drunk, directionless, clueless APC lawmakers and officials to think of how to get more jobless Nigerian youth graduates to become salable medical and IT professionals that can be exported to earn FX for Nigeria and also reduce our mad youth unemployment rate, they are rather thinking of how to stop the ones migrating legally to work and earn good income from migrating abroad. For a Nurse or Doctor, etc to secure a job in Nigeria's FMC or General Hospital or Teaching Hospital, he or she must know somebody in government or position of authority and sometimes they pay huge money to get these low paid government jobs yet these fools are still talking of shortage of medical professionals when they haven't even finished employing the available medical professionals in Nigeria, it is well with Nigeria under APC Honestly any Nigerian youth supporting APC must be really insane or something. 1 Like |

Mindlog:this is exactly what Peter Obi said, that his government would invest more in education so that we would produce so many doctors that those that wants to leave can leave and those that wants to stay back can equally do so without us experiencing any shortage. Most Nigerian politicians aren't fit to run a nursery school talkless of a country. |
