Yes debt is good.its a leverage. It's a lever a country use to do public investment. But you have watch it carefully..when we crossed 60 percent..debt to gdp..uhuru should have shifted to privatisation..selling safaricom..and debt refinancing. He kept on borrowing..debt refinancing started late.Ruto is reforming privatisation laws so we can sell many kenya assets...that part of reforms. Kibaki use to finance budget half with debt..half with selling assets.Uhuru was a drunken fool and we are luckily he lost with Raila.We worked hard to kick him out.Now we have to clean up the mess...then go back borrowing responsibly
You have too much faith in this Ruto boy. The same way you felt about the drunkard at the beginning.

Nigeria produced in 2022:

59.4 million tons of cassava (the largest producer in the world). Nigeria accounts for cassava production of up to 20 per cent of the world, about 34 per cent of Africa’s and about 46 per cent of West Africa’s;[3]

47.5 million tons of yam (largest producer in the world);[27]

3.3 million tons of taro (largest producer in the world);[28]

2.6 million tons of cowpea (largest producer in the world);[29]

6.8 million tons of sorghum (largest producer in the world);[30][31]

2 million tons of okra (2nd largest producer in the world, second only to India);[32]

2.8 million tons of peanut (3rd largest producer in the world, second only to China and India);

4 million tons of sweet potato (3rd largest producer in the world, second only to China and Malawi);

369 thousand tons of ginger (3rd largest producer in the world, losing only to India and China);

2.2 million tons of millet (4th largest producer in the world, second only to India, Niger and Sudan);

7.8 million tons of palm oil (4th largest producer in the world, second only to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand);

572 thousand tons of sesame seed (4th largest producer in the world, losing only to Sudan, Myanmar and India);

332 thousand tons of cocoa (4th largest producer in the world, second only to Ivory Coast, Ghana and Indonesia);

3 million tons of plantain (5th largest producer in the world);

833 thousand tons of papaya (6th largest producer in the world);

1.6 million tons of pineapple (7th largest producer in the world);

3.9 million tons of tomato (11th largest producer in the world);

6.8 million tons of rice (one of the largest producers of rice in Africa,[3] 14th largest producer in the world);

10.1 million tons of maize (14th largest producer in the world);

7.5 million tons of vegetable;

1.4 million tons of sugarcane;

1.3 million tonnes of potato;

949 thousand tons of mango (including mangosteen and guava);

938 thousand tons of onion;

758 thousand tons of soy;

747 thousand tons of green pepper;

585 thousand tons of egusi;

263 thousand tons of sheanut.

In addition to smaller productions of other agricultural products.[33]

Nigeria produced about 2.2 million metric tons of fish in 2008.[3] Livestock production is an essential component of Nigeria's agriculture with abundant social and economic potential. About 60 per cent of the ruminant livestock population is found in the country’s semi-arid zone and is mostly managed by pastoralists. Domestic production of livestock products is far below the national demand, resulting in large imports of livestock and livestock products. The domestic production of animal products is less than half the demand for beef, mutton, and goat meat, while for milk and pork products it is less than a quarter the demand.[3]

Yeah. If Nigeria can successfully build the PortHarcourt-Maiduguri rail that connects the North and South Easily as well as completely demolish bandits, we may be able to reduce food imports and reduce food inflation. If we do this and build storage rooms everywhere, food, fruits, and all produced in Northern Nigeria (especially North-Central (Nigerian Agriculture Powerhouse)) would no longer go to waste and food imports reduced.

Uhuru was doing fine when Ruto was working and covering his drunkard self. Ruto in his first term use to work late and wake up early driving gov. Gov was smooth and delivered - they won re-election. The second term was a disaster.

Uhuru had a brilliant plan called Big 4 agenda - 2018-2022 kenya development plan by Mckinnsey - that was to focus on agriculture, housing, manufacturing and affordable health care.

What does he do instead - try to ammend the constitution so he can continue as prime minister like Russia putin. We ended up in political bickering for four years - and nothing got done - apart from things that were already in motion from 1st term.

Now Ruto has to re-do most of the big four - but under difficult fiscal environment. The only new thing Ruto has managed to sneak in - support for SMES - otherwise we back to Big 4 having been undone.

Wasted five years because a drunkard thought he could manage to run gov. Thankfully that Uhuru and is partner in crime Raila were rejected by Kenyans last august - and we are now on the road to economic and political recovery.

Ok, Ruto has been there for almost a year now. From the stories we are hearing it seems like things are going to get bad before they get better.

He's been in power for 7 months. Yes things will get bad before they get better because patient has to been taken through chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This is well known. Ruto told kenyans that and put in the manifesto.

The good thing - we expect recovery to happen very fast. In 18 months - now we still have 12 months to go.

That Ruto description of the perfect storm we find ourselves - and also unorthodox steps to avoid getting into IMF straight-jacket - as IMF treatment is pretty nasty.

Ghana will not join Kenya in it 5 or 6 defaults

This is just a credit rating.. it has very little to do with whether you've defaulted or not.
