Anytime a building collapses in Lagos, the LSG rushes for a quick fix plus a shifting of blame.

Why are the skyscrapers built in other sanner climes not collapsing - because up-to-date building codes and ethical practices are strictly adhered to and any sharp practices by contractors or Engineers heavily sanctioned.

Nigeria will never adhere to their own rules. Building standards monitoring is an avenue to create thousands of jobs for the many unemployed Nigerian youths but government will prefer to continue gambling with public safety than do the right thing.

It okay.

Tinubu legacy in Lagos is buildings collapsing every week.

Guinness record should give Lagos award for the most city with collapsed buildings.

Top 5 slums in Africa

The state should reduce building approval cost, reduce documentation and other bottleneck, it will reduce patronage of officials by owners or developers.
The high cost is making people go for he easy way out which doesn't make the make the officials do the right thing.
The agency should be like fire service, it should not be a money making machine

Igbo haters would have since turned this daily building collapse in lagos to Igbo bashing if this was to be happening in the igboland. Onitsha city is filled with four to five storey buildings but u will hardly hear of any building collapse there.

It's funny that buildings of old are standing gidigba, but brand new buildings are collapsing before they're even completed.

Should we then say Nigeria is decaying by the day, and might itself figuratively collapse one day?
Re: 5-storey Building Collapses In Apapa by teemy(m): 7:21pm On Apr 23, 2023
Could the earth underneath Lagos itself be having a fault line shift? This is one too many to not be connected.

All the people last week asking if one can build house with 11million… 9million etc…
I hope you people are reading the news
That is what I was saying. It is that kind of attitude that brings buildings crashing down.

Such owners cannot come to terms with the cost of things and often exert undue pressure on unprofessional construction professionals especially in a high inflationary economy such as we have now.

No. Simply corruption fighting back.

Everybody is blaming the govt, Govt officials will come mark a house, place notices do everything the builders will ignore and continue building.

There is something we are not considering. Even though I am not an expert in the line, I still believe that major railway construction involving the use of powerful earth moving equipment can contribute to all these building collapse.
