Hmmmmm.

Our leaders can safely be termed among the worst worldwide.

Nigeria has four refineries. There are modular refineries to add to those.

1. The four refineries do not function.
2. The modular refineries are hardly anything to write home about.
3. Nigeria owes billions in foreign debt, while the same loses crude to thieves worth billions of dollars everyday.
4. The same leaders take away their attention from the country"s existing refineries, with the excuse that TAM is too costly to undertake, yet invest $2.7b in a refinery owned by an individual, for an equity of 20%. Now we can see that Dangote is stuck and the Nigerian government needs to provide more to build the refinery. Nigeria has to borrow money to further fund the building of the refinery.
5. Rather than undertake to build new refineries, they give the lame excuse that refineries are too costly to build.
6. Embezzlement of public funds remains the order of the day.

When will Nigerians get away from the dark days of poor leadership?

The south is very naive for relying on Dangoye to supply them fuel. Since it's a private business, he can close not sell to the SE or Middle Belt.
The agreement was signed with the Nigerian govt. Not with the southern govt.

If Dangote is too broke to fund the refinery and having exceeded his limit for borrowings, the sensible thing left is to sell some of his assets. He can sell Dangote cement Obajana or any other factory to raise funds.

This idea of going to federal government for continuous bailout is rubbish. Especially when FG is borrowing money to give him.

Why is this country like this?! Everybody is a deceiver……

Corruption everywhere!

These guys will build companies and source for multiple loans which are not sustainable.

Now the Nigerian government is funding a private project for 20% stake which I believe is muddled in corruption. I’m quite sure that 20% stake will be excessively overpriced due to cascades of “I chop u chop”

Nigerians are just too corrupt

Hmnn. So, Nigerian government has been funding and even obtaining loans on behalf of Dangote's refinery?

Even now, there is no assurance that it will be completed soon enough. Yet those promoting subsidy removal keep making reference to the refinery.

Is it greediness or what? Why wouldn't Dangote build a smaller refinery and have it completed on time? He just want it to be referred as the single largest train refinery in the world. SMH.

The refineries in Porthacourt, Warri and Kaduna are dead and they still want me to believe all these bull craps.

That's what I keep telling proponents of "subsidy must go" who rely on dangote refinery. Let it be up and running before bringing subsidy removal that is dependent on it to the table else 22% inflation rate would look like a 1990 stuff.

All I know is that if Dangote's refinery is anyway reliant on Indians, Nigerians should forget it. Beside the fact that thire technical know-how is subpar and overhyped, Indians believe in Oyigbos negetive plans for Africa more than Oyigbo themselves. They endorse the worst aspect of Oyigbo pseudo racial views and in return Oyigbo empower them wherever and whenever possible at the expense of blacks and Africa wherever relevant.

Nigeria need to work with the Chinese or directly with Oyigbo.

I think the problem with our refineries is that most of them are obsolete. The TAM routinely done is just an Avenue to siphoned funds.

Dangote has fuked them up. They put all their hopes on his refinery not knowing it can't be completed until 2025. Who knows they might even extend the date again to 2030 cheesy cheesy

If Dangote is not careful, that refinery might end up as white elephant project. He is already paying 700 million as interest on loans and has continued to borrow endlessly. He has even exceeded his limit for borrowings yet completion date is not in sight!

I don't see subsidy being removed, especially not when a questionable and unpopular government like that of Tinubu takes over. Obi might even contemplate it considering he still enjoys massive support and control of social media narrative.

If Tinubu is inaugurated as president and he dares remove subsidy, his government will collapse within 6 months.

The Dangote Refinery, announced in 2013 with an initial $3.3bn loan deal with local and foreign banks to fund the construction, was expected to transform Nigeria's reliance on imported petroleum products and boost the country's economy. With an initial completion date of 2018

The 2013 proposal must have been approved by Jonathan based on the original plan of deregulating the fuel market that Tinubu and APC scammed people into rejecting with the #OccupyNigeria of January 2012 in Ojota.

So why cant we build? If Dangote can start building, why cant Nigeria as a nation build? Yet we spend so much on frivolities, waste on politicians and have a ton stolen by humans....why? It is so unreasonable.

Remember one time that the banking sector was given a mandate that for any bank to operate in the country they must have a reserve of about 20 billion then? A lot that couldnt meet up merged. Why cant the FG give the oil sector a mandate to own refineries or even build one for the nation? E really get as e be. The country is such a disappointment! He said that he will remove it irrespective of any protest.

We’ll remove fuel subsidy even if Nigerians protest – Tinubu

December 23, 2022

The flagbearer made the pledge on Thursday at a business luncheon with business owners in Lagos.

The former governor said if elected he would take bold decisions that would turn the nation’s economy around.

Tinubu declared that Nigeria would not continue to subsidise fuel consumption in neighbouring countries.

“How can we subsidise the fuel consumption of Cameroon, Niger, Benin Republic?

“No matter how long you protest, we are going to remove the fuel subsidy”, he vowed.

The enemies of our country is Buhari who said that subsidy is a fraud in 2015 to demonise Jonathan and PDP, only to get the job and pay even more subsidy.

No wonder corruption is so bad and worse under the old soldier who stood shoulder to shoulder with Abacha in PTF as the worst known looting was going on. Can you imagine Buhari saying that Abacha never stole our money in 2008, one year after Obasanjo left office and recovered billions of dollars in loot?

How did some Nigerians believe that Buhari can fight corruption? How

As I predicted from the beginning, Dangote is going to learn a big lesson about neo-colonialism. But then, he probably don't understand what's going on yet.

The refinery could actually make him poor if he doesn't wake up to the scam. But it's already late!!

The problem with Nigeria is politics. Everything is politicized. The best brains that should help solve our myriad problems are shoved aside.
What you suggested was what so many people opined when this FG and Dangote love relationship started but they, as usual, thought they people opinion were dumb after all, there's the cash cow called TAM.

Abeg, make we remove this subsidy

We have a choice. Either subsidy goes, or we keep on paying more and more in debt, or it keeps on rising till it eats a sum that is ten times our national budget.

We better stop making excuses. This should have been done since 1993. We refused to do it, and since then we have effing lost 4 refineries, and are dashing humdreds of people money in the name of siubsidy for nothing.

We better remove subsidy. Now. Or else, we are going to end up losing more money

The west has nothing to do with it. They are even divesting from oil and embracing cleaner energy. I think the Damgote did not get good management team for this project. Nigerians are better project managers but our low self esteem would always depend on foreigners .

Blitzking:

We av started it and we must finish it..the west won't be happy and those nations we have been importing refined products from...they will warn their financial institutions from giving any money..and would raise fake media to raise both the masses and the govt against such live changing project for the future of Nigerians yet unborn. We must not allow this project become another ajaokuta steel mill..of course such a project would instantly make dangote among the top 20 richest men in the world..but then the masses will feel the impact.
