Greetings everyone!

My Peugeot 307 has started suddenly loosing power when I want to accelerate; climb a small hill or demand some bit of higher work from it. The engine seems intact and okay.

Even after changing the fuel pump, the problem has remained.

The milage on my car is 105,419.

What should I do, please. Kindly come to my aid.

Thanks
I don’t know anything about Peugeot (i dislike it), pls kindly seek assistance from a competent technician on how to fix this problem.

But judging from my experience with other brands, fuel pressure, misfires, blocked catalytic converter, failing transmission etc can cause this issue.

What causes noise from the power steering pump? I installed another one thinking the pump is faulty but the noise started as soon as I put oil in the new one.
I have noticed that when I I accelerate, the vehicle veers to one side and to the other side during deceleration.

Good day everyone. I have an issue here. My mechanic used the wrong oil 20w-50 for my Toyota avalon, instead of 5w-30 required. This happened last week, is it advisable to change the oil again this week to 5w-30 required. Thanks.

If you are very sure you’ve been using 5W30, you can change the mechanic then change the oil.

Check rack, pressure pipes and pump. Then bleed properly

how can I do this? I have a cheap Bluetooth obd2 scanner
This can only be done with a multimeter and it requires a skilled electrician to do this.

Good evening bosses..My Toyota Camry 2006 big daddy keeps shorting oil..I use Mobil super 2000 5w-30 which is the recommended oil but I still experience oil shortage after 5 liters I bought recently. I still bought 1 Litre to top it up…just bought the car from America 4 months ago..pls your suggestions would be highly appreciated
Do you have oil moist around the engine or an obvious oil leak underneath. Anything aside this would be worn engine internals. The engine may require a rebuild.

Greetings dear Nairalanders,

I drive a Toyota Camry 07. About 6months ago my AC compressor got bad and was replaced with one that had to carry some connections with a certain unit from the follow come compressor.
Now the compressor doesn't function well when parked and also my engine vibrates slightly when the AC is on.
I met another technician who said I need to replace the compressor with a certain one he says is more suitable for my car.
Now I'm scared of uncertainties.
Should I go ahead with the replacement as advised again?
Also isn't the follow come compressor available in the market? If available, how much for tokumbo and how much for brand new?
Thank you all in anticipation of your response.
Return to the old type compressor(automatic), if possible get a brand new one and replace the condenser as well. O ni reason.

Is it the steering that spins to one side or the vehicle that steers one side(can't maintain a straight line as you go faster)? Please be clear on this. For the noise, do you have air bubbles in the steering fluid reservoir? If yes, replace the supply hose that feeds oil to the pump but if you have no bubbles then get another pump.

I dunno, I don’t do Peugeot so I can’t answer for that. However, I’m a firm believer in driving your car regularly for long distance to warm up properly and keep things in shape.

I bought the car recently (first car) only to discover that there was no power steering pump on it. So I decided to buy and fix it.
before installing the pump, I discover that the vehicle (not the steering) veers to the left when I accelerate and to the right when I decelerate on the express. But if the road is rough, it goes zig zag depending on the condition of the road. I have to be very slow and not go too close to oncoming vehicles. It also. I changed one of the brake disc that was thin on the advise of the mechanic. all these before installing a power steering pump on it.
When the pump was installed, during bleeding, the steering was turning on its own (I don't know if this is normal).
The noise (whining continues even after turning it from side to side several time. the belt was stuck and started smoking. Another belt was fixed and immediately started sliding and failed again. The mechanic said it's the steering rack or pinion. Later he said it might be alignment or something else. I kept buying things I'm not sure are bad.

I just joined this part of nairaland as I'm planning to go into car market.

I have a V-boot that for most of the past 5 years I've had it, I drive it twice or thrice a month, 30-50km on average and it's in top shape.

I only changed the battery I bought in 2018 last year. Total maintenance expenditure in 5 years is probably 100k and I do most things myself -- I don't have a mechanic. Only major work done that was a must was water pump change, which existed before I bought the car. One kick start till date, the record was after parking for 12 days straight! I changed the fuel accumulator today which was compromising that one-kick start of late. Price: 2k.

I understand recent cars are made to expire after a while (planned obsolescence). So to each his own

True for European and most American cars. Also, some Asian cars have started integrating this into their technology.

First you drove the car without a steering pump installed-not very good.
The car veering to the left when you accelerate can be caused by the suspension or unequal tire sizes in the front wheels(if the tires have optimum pressure). You may have to check your control arms(lower arm), bushings and tie rods, tire pressure and also take the car for wheel alignment. Veering to the right when you brake can be caused by ineffective braking in the front left wheel. Have the entire brake system serviced but more importantly the front left brake caliper and disc checked.
Steering turning on its own is caused by a bad steering rack, the control valve in the rack's pinion is stuck open to one side, if you occasionally experience this please change the steering rack. As for the noise and the smoking belt, one of the engine accessory is has siezed up. Your mechanic should take out the belt and spin the pulley of all the accessories (alternator, compressor, idler and tensioner bearings) to check if they still spin freely-since you already have a new steering pump. If the problem persists, replace the pressure hose and the steering rack. There's a restriction of oil flow through the rack and that is causing a lot of pressure build up that is trying to bring the pump to a stop which is the cause of the noise emanating from the pump(provided you have a good working pump)

Was your AC repaired recently?
What is the state of your engine’s health?
Do you have vacuum or evap issues or fuel pressure related issue?

Condensate coming out of the engine during warm up isn’t a sign of a healthy engine. You could keep driving the engine and topping, or have the engine rebuilt or even replaced. The choice is between you and your mechanic after carefully weighting the pros and cons and carefully checking what needs to be done to your current engine if it’s worth the risk repairing.

I don’t know, pls have a competent mechanic check your car. He’s in the best position to determine the state of your car and advise better.

My Corolla 05 vibrates whenever the AC is turned on and I accelerate. If I put it on Park mode, the vibration reduces drastically.

I have changed the engine seat but it persists. I've had the belt changed, and theres a level of improvement, but the vibration is still there.

A mechanic said it's normal while another said it's a compressor fault. But im wondering how the compressor can be faulty when the AC is chilling.
