imagine after paying duty and port fees the draconian state still multiple taxes imported cars for no reason but to extort them to finance lagos recklessly financial policies and borrowing. |

Gajagojo:After paying duty in the state? its better they boycott lagos port or close it down since lagos state government wants to extort importers. |

erico2k2:Why the FG? The tax is a road usage tax . The equivalent of the vehicle licence tax paid for 12 months but in this case it is for one month. Ideally if a vehicle is not registered it should not be on the road . If it is on the road it should pay the road usage tax and it should have 3rd party insurance. In Some countries you should pay for temporary number plates or the vehicle is carried on a truck or in a container.unlicensed or unregistered vehicles should not be driven without registration and insurance |

jaxxy:Do they pay duty and port fee to Lagos state? It is not compulsory to pay for one month they can pay for 12 months and use it anywhere in NIgeria. If they hate Lagos so much they can even register the car in another state Lagos is saying NO UNREGISTERED CARS ON OUR ROADS It is not just a revenue thing it is a security thing as well Why should anyone drive a car with no insurance or registration? Lagos is saying if you import a car into the country you still have to pay to use the roads it is the same all over the country People import cars refuse to register and use the roads alongside others who are paying vehicle licence. Those who pay were their cars not imported? |
Federal investment? Did the federal government pay for the land? The British build the port over a hundred years ago and never paid for the land. The FG inherited it without paying a kobo
may haba agulu punish you and that your British ,everything in lagos was built with oil money niger delta nothing to add |

Gajagojo:I think you have heard of few roads concepts, and you are getting it all mixed up. Vehicles from ports are not meant to be licensed without prior inspection hence there is a Dealer number plate, and a Dealer has what we call a trade Insurance hence they can drive their unregistered cars with their own number plates on the road./SO with what they have just done they are saying if there is no proof of these payments the car should not be released from the port, is that not mad? with he road tax bit I get it but unregistered cars will be registered eventually so there should ays of grace, |

erico2k2:Try to learn to communicate without patronising people Do not go around assuming you know more than the next person.99% of the time you will be wrong. First understand what is being said before correcting people We are operating or should be operating a federal system and state Governments will continue to push the boundaries With this development LASG is tearing up the status quo And we expect to see cases in court Status quo is not necessarily or always constitutional |

| Re: N4,600 TVT: Customs Agents Kick As Lagos Slams New Charge On Imported Vehicles by erico2k2(m): 9:32pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
Gajagojo:U are throwing another big word into it without addressing the issues I raised, the people complaining here are not end users rather the clearing agents who have access to Dealer number plates, I made mentions of this as it addresses you reasoning as to why these should be paid to the Lagos state govt.U claimed Insurance and car registration should be obtained B4 cars are allowed to be in Lag roads, I address this issue with a singular response that the Dealer number plate takes care of all this and you are here talking about me learning not to patronise you when clearly you are the one doing such |
