As we prepare to usher in a new administration in 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the Population and Housing Census. This decision was made with the best interests of Nigerians at heart and was taken after extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders.

We want to assure Nigerians that the government remains committed to conducting a comprehensive and accurate census as soon
as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will continue to work towards creating an enabling environment for the incoming administration to take over and make informed decisions regarding the census.
