The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is considering a postponement of the governorship and state assembly elections.

TheCable understands that the electoral body is expected to take a decision on the issue at a meeting of its national commissioner on Wednesday night.

Since the conclusion of the presidential and national assembly polls, the electoral body has been in court over the application seeking to extract data embedded in the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) and inspect other election materials.

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Atiku Abubakar, standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had filed similar applications on the matter before the court of appeal.

They equally applied to obtain the certified true copy (CTC) of all the data in the BVAS.

However, the electoral body insisted that granting the request would affect its preparations for the forthcoming elections.

Tanimu Inuwa, counsel to the INEC, asked the court to vary the orders which gave permission to Obi and Atiku to inspect all the sensitive materials used in the conduct of the presidential election.

But the court refused to grant INEC’s request, saying the commission failed to specify which of the orders it wished to vary.

The court also emphasised that it never granted Obi and LP permission to access the database of INEC as misconceived by the electoral body.

It clarified that what was granted was an order giving Obi and LP permission to do electronic scanning and/or make photocopies of voter registration, and ballot papers used in the conduct of the election.

I pray they postpone the governorship election, it will do Nigerians a lot of good and it will damage the chances of those who want to deceive people and rig their way into office by stealing other people's mandates, that was why INEC was in rush to declare Tinubu winner even when there so much evidence of irregularities and he became the first candidate to be declared winner in the night when Nigerians were sleeping, same time most robbers operate..

The longer an armed robber spends during a robbery, the slimmer his chances of been successful - This goes for INEC/APC and Tinubu

This may be inevitable, and could mean that INEC has succumbed to the shenanigans of the mischief makers.

Everyone knows that there's no way the commission could deploy the BVAS for the gubernatorial elections without first resetting it, so that the counting will begin from zero.

What should have been demanded ab inito is the order to compel INEC to back up the info of the earlier elections in an accessible server ( if that has not been done) and make it available to all parties involved.

Sadly some people know the truth but will just spread other narratives to suit whatever agenda they have, and perhaps appeal to their mob for validation.

This of course does not exonerate INEC from wrong doings.

It is nauseating putting it in its mildest form that INEC after collecting over 300 billion Naira did not think that what ever be the outcome of the elections, litigations would follow and the bvas machine would be the bone of contention

Still having the above in mind, they by themselves fixed 2 weeks after presidential elections to hold gubernatorial elections

Now they are trying to threaten Nigerians that they would postpone elections. Let them postpone it o....heaven will not fall

This there actions reeks of two things

Either they were not well prepared for the elections or they are desperately trying to cover their tracks because this is the most glaring rigging in the history of rigging in Nigeria

INEC is really @ a cross road about tidying up the criminality of February 25th 2023 and how to go about the scheming of 11th March 2023.
