Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi has slammed critics on social media for “fat-shaming” a newly recruited crime prevention warden in South Africa.

Lesufi at the weekend unveiled 4,000 crime prevention wardens who will patrol the streets of the Gauteng province (encompassing Johannesburg and Pretoria) to strengthen law enforcement.

The wardens graduated at a parade at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve, Pretoria. Among them was Mahlatse Tseko, who many said was not “fit and agile” as required in the job description.

“Body shaming and discrimination is as dangerous as racism and sexism. You can be somehow and still be capable to work,” Lesufi said.

“I’ve taken an extraordinary step to request the training session of Mahlatse Tseko, a crime-fighting volunteer who fought criminals for years volunteering.”

He said Tseko would not be working alone in fighting crime, saying, “This is a collective effort.”

I'm conflated on what to say.

We are not body shaming him, we re just saying it the way it is, he is an obese man and it's not good for this Kind of Job. How he wan take Pursue Criminal or run for his Life when Kasala Burst

We have similar serving in this country and I believe their belly/weight does not "interfere" in their job.

It's almost impossible. Any mugu that tries to bust a South Africa Police station go likely die before entering.

If he's at the counter, and the criminal get chance to enter at all, the man no need to stress himself. Em fit stand dey blast the guy without running, plus there are others around to help him out.

Security officers need to be agile and capable, that is why the health status, body mass, and in many cases height, etc., is always considered before recruitment.

Although we know that many police men got fat in the force, it is still inexplicably deplorable for the force to recruit officers that aren't bodily fit to compound to the woes of the almost overweight force.
Assuming your favourite football team signed an overweight goalkeeper, because he volunteered in the junior leagues and was kinda good at it, would you say the management was serious?

It is not body shaming. Enough of this woke mentality, the truth must be said. Fat is Fat and shouldn't be encouraged in the force.
