I remember "Edo no be Lagos" rhetoric and laugh.. I wonder who did Edolites this thing.

They left progressive party for one that is known for misrule and bad governance all in the bid to spite Tinubu. Now Edo state is on same level with Abia and other poor states in South while same Tinubu is about to be sworn-in as next President, Federal Republic of Nigeria. It's a pity.

There was a time under oshiomhole when Oredo was generating 100 million monthly. Those people should be arrested and severely punished. Those Lgas that are part of the city center has no business generating less than 10 million monthly. I can understand for Rural lgas not Lga like Esan west, (Ekpoma) Esan north east (Uromi) Etsako west(Auchi) , thousands of bikes work in each of these three cities daily. You know how much revenue is collected from them. Let us not mention Ovia north east, Egor, Oredo, Ikpoba Okha, Uhuwande, that has their whole or part of them inside the city.

Indeed. I make same 3 million or more in 2 days sometimes from my businesses. How is it tenable LGAs in Edo claim that is what they make in a month?

Nigeria is so screwed that anything else other than throwing out 'one Nigeria' completely ,to make us all go and take responsibility for our successes or failure at State and regional level, will amount to worsening of our plight.

This is one of the negatives of Nigeria today I believe comprehensive restructuring and regional autonomy will correct.

Minus 'one Nigeria's that allows Nigerians to run away from their own poor governance and leadership misrule, we will all have to hold our leaders accountable because we cannot simple pack our bags and relocate to another State as was easy to do under 'one Nigeria' which encourages us to abandon our responsibilities to ourselves and our children.

Nigerian leaders have even perfected the art of hiding behind 'one Nigeria'. They are now experts at using it to get away with awful misrule because they know their own people would rather drag other Nigerians than come for their heads.

How is lack of "comprehensive restructuring and regional autonomy" the reason for 18 LGAs generating 3m naira?

My friend is a Revenue Officer in a Local Government, and he confided in me that requests come from all the management staff, for their domestic needs to be attended to using the revenue generated. They use the revenue to solve sundry domestic needs. And because of that, the officer himself also squander the one that remains.

They are just stealing. Obaseki hiked the taxes by over 200% when he came in and he has consistently increased it. This is coming as a result of him refusing to conduct lga elections and appointing his cronies as "lga liason officesrs" . Do you know that pos operators pay 60k as taxes near the city centre? And we have numerous pos operators there. Not to talk about what private schools pay. They just brazenly stole the money cos it was political period

Bro, you don't get it. Nigeria has gone far beyond hiring and firing as solutions to our problem.

We must change the system to deliver one that will ensure all Nigerian leaders have no choice but to do the right things because they are closely and mercilessly monitored by followers who insist on knowing what their leaders are doing or not doing because they have no other option.

The reason people everywhere are getting away with crime, misrule, misconduct and poor leadership's is that no Nigerian cares anymore. No patriotism or pride in where we live. No belief at all in the fact it can become our own paradise.

We then leave every problem to leaders to solve and they in turn abuse power because they know it is easy to get away with that in a country where no Nigerian oversees the actions/inactions of their leadership.

'Japa' mentality, whether to go abroad or somewhere else within Nigeria, is too entrenched in our thinking today. Every Nigerians now prays "God give me the means to leave this cursed place" because fleeing the 'insurmountable' problems is the only option they assume exists.

With that mindset, Nigerians lose all interest in what leaders are doing. Whether they are stealing us blind, the average Nigerian no longer cares.

We cannot stop anyone going abroad but we can deliver governance systems within Nigeria that will make us take more direct responsibility for our own habitat and geographical space than we do currently.

What most of us do not understand is that we have enough resources to make where most of us live the land of our dreams. People with far less endowment than us have created great cities and countries with the right mentality and governance system in place. That is what leaders and followers must evolve in Nigeria if we want better LGAS, States and regions.

It is simplistic thinking that everything falls on leaders and then assuming firing and hiring them is our solution. There are nations where even a criminal will do the right thing as a political leader because the system in place leaves him no option but to do that or quickly be jailed.
