Osinbajo has no machinery to win any Presidential election . He would have still relied on Tinubu machinery to win the election had he won the primary. The easiest of them all to be defeated by Atiku was Osinbajo.
If today Osinbajo contested a primary against Amechi. Amechi will defeat him with big Margin Osinbajo is not a politician

He was only hoping on PMB anointing oil to win the Apc primary which did not come

Replace Tinubu with Osinbajo in last election, Atiku would have won with bigger margin.
U re talking about Money and political sagacity, rather than who would have done better.

Still surprising people went for Tinubu and left osinbajo.

In as much Tinubu will try his best, Osinbajo would have performed better far ahead of Tinubu, anyday anyday.

The bitter truth
Igbokwe was right. PDP was praying for Osinbajo to emerge bcoz they were afraid of Tinubu network of friends all over the federation.

I listened to Sanusi too, but I knew he was only playing politics.

Atiku by now would have been preparing for his inauguration.

Immediately Tinubu emerged, sorrow entered the Atiku Atikulooooter PDP camp. They started jittering bcoz they know that Tinubu would match PDP money for money, influence for influence.

They (PDP) also know that Tinubu has never lost any election and he was serious about his determination to win. Tinubu told Nigeria and Nigerians that he doesn't know where Atiku, Obi, kwakwaso were running to but he (Tinubu) was running to win and occupied Aso Rock.

And by all standard, sentiment apart, he was the most prepared candidate among them.

Therefore, Igbokwe was right. Atiku would have overrun Osinbajo before noon but unfortunately for Atiku he met a stronger, a hard nut to crack in Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

osinbajo could have won too... Tinubu won not by high margin self... Imagine a situation where Obi kwankwanso were in PDP APC could have Lost out... I mean despite Atiku not getting much votes in South East and won Akwa ibom bayelsa in South south see how he gave tinubu a run people forget the party Carry weight... Would tinubu have won if he ran on SDP platform??
Obi would have divided Christian votes with Osinbajo. Osinbajo will find it difficult to penetrate the north and Atiku would have had an easy ride in the north.

You clearly are too young and are a product of a lack of history classes. Awo won current Delata and Edo states. You probably don’t know edo and delta were part of the old western region and Awo,s free education and other programs in that region when he was premier. There is a reason Alfred Rewane and Alex Ibru were staunch Awo loyalists. He also did well in gongola (taraba/adamant) although he didn’t win. Gongola was the only region outside the LOOBO states (Lagos Oyo, ogun, bendel and ondo). as they used to be called then where Awo did well.
The names you are mentioning will confuse the young lad who read a re- written version of history and has decided to exhibit it as far as it soothes his ego.

Zik more popular than Awolowo.
Only on Nairaland.

The truth is that tinubu would have worked against APC and that will result to failure. If the election were to be free and fair, some people who voted for obi will have simply vote for the vice president.
Only some of the endsars people would have voted Osinbajo and the operative word is "some"

SE would have voted LP and if there was no LP they would have voted PDP. There was no path to an Osinbajo presidency. Buhari's coat tails were too short to ride and even the aso rock cabal egging Osinbajo on have turned to paper tigers.

What we all love is not necessarily the winning ticket.

. It was shocking to PDP that BAT won. They thought YO would win so it would be easy to defeat him in the North. Truly YO is a empty barrel in the North. Even the northern governors do not respect him but only take him as the VP. His choice as the VP was even controversial in the commity of governors then. How could YO who had no structure defeat BAT? The presidential election was indeed a bumper to bumper battle between BAT and ATIKU. The results justified the interest of the North to opt for the SW at the expense of the recalcitrant SE that thought presidency is clinchable without any structure or mobilisation.

I don't agree with your Plateau and Edo analsyis.

For the majority non Hausa Fulani tribes that make up Plateau I do not believe their is a special affinity to the Igbo. What motivates them is to ensure that they are not "ruled" by the Hausa Fulani grand plan, especially if it appears to be islamic.

Osinbajo being a Pastor would easily win their sentiments. Also APC have a sitting governor their so it would have been far easier for him to sell the ticket. Father Alia doing so well in Benue should show anyone how deep some MIddle Belt states can take religion.

As for Edo, their people have no deep seated issue with APC as shown by how well APC did in the Legislative elections. Their problem is with Tinubu as a character and also the islamic one ticket angle. Pastor Osinbajo would have easily beaten Obi in Edo with Oshiomole and co backing him.

I am not sure being Igbo was the reason anyone out of the SE and SS voted for Obi i.e. it did not give him any additional benefit. It was the Christian angle "the defender of the faith"...I mean as he said, his only hope was turn the election into a "religious war", but that largely failed in the SouthWest.

u Sabi analysis I wonder how pple think others are like east that play Politics of bitterness hating anything APC... Some persons who voted against tinubu in Lagos were osinbajo supporters osinbajo on the ticket APC would win lagos and Abuja... The issue would be north west and East and I still think APC would have done well too since it's a big Party all they could have done is pick zulum as deputy president candidate to sell APC in the North West East... benue would have gone to APC... Niger kogi kwara to... Even nassarawa to... For south east they are too bitter so whoever APC present no hope... South South APC would have done well so osinbajo could still have won... Again politics isn't one plus one...if Obi kwankwanso were in PDP APC with tinubu could have lost self so I wonder the braggado that tinubu did magic... Can tinubu win president with SDP Party?

Without Peter Obi's premature candidature, Atiku would have beaten tinubu hands down. Even Tinu knows that.✌️

I like your analysis but I doubt Osinbajo will win Edo and Plateau.

Pleateau have always most times gone with the Ibos especially when you have an Ibo man on the ballot. As poor as Azikiwe performed in the 70s, he won Plateau states in those election. Peter Obi would have defeated Osinbajo in plateau.

In Edo state, Osinbajo will lose it to Peter Obi because the hatred is not only for Tinubu but APC. Some other heavyweight for APC in Edo state wouldn’t have even supported him and there will be anti party.

But he will win Benue, Kwara, and maybe Kogi (not sure).

Like you opined, his low performance in the North will be what will grant Atiku victory. Tinubu margin of win in the North West alone was enough to cover Atiku margin in the rest of the 4 NW states he won.
Many of you cannot see very far in your analysis. The first thing you must know is that the cabal does not like Oshinbajo either. Because they know he probably has a mind of his own with the way he sacked DSS director general in Buhari’s absence. And if the cabal had thrown Oshinbajo under the bus like they tried on Tinubu, the combination of Emefiele’s plot with fuel scarcity would have been enough to deal with APC under Oshibajo nationwide. He would almost certainly lose everywhere in south west because he has no electoral value throughout the southwest. The only structure APC has in south west belongs to Tinubu in totality. Oshinbajo has not won any election in his life, not even his polling unit. The monumental loss of APC will be heard in heaven i bet you. He will come a distant 4th on the ballot. Perhaps getting a few hundreds more than Sowore.

Lol funny submission, if you want to know who was more popular btw Zik and AWO, just check out 1979 and 1983 election results. Zik was never in the competition, it was always a fight btw Shagari and Awo. Zik came a distant 3rd in both elections. Zik’s popularity was almost totally limited to the East. When next you want to compare political popularity, don’t use emotions, use past election results of the individuals. I know some years to come some people will even say Peter Obi, Orji Kalu or another regional politician was more popular than Tinubu when facts have shown that today Tinubu is the single most popular politician in Nigeria, even more popular than Buhari, unfortunately.
tinubu is not popular like buhari except u just want to overate him... Tinubu won majorly cos of APC being a big party and kwankwanso obi Left PDP... If u add all opposition votes together e pass APC own.. pmb won 12 million votes came second with CPC 2011 a Party formed under six months... Tinubu no fit achieve such feat with SDP yet u think he is more popular than buhari guy say something else abeg...

obi wouldn't have gained momentum he did, had osinbajo won the ticket.

Religion played major role in the last election.
Christians from Edo or plateau would rather queue behind osinbajo that has a chance of winning on major ticket than divide their votes for obi.

GEJ contested with buhari that is a demi god in North West and East even obasanjo that contested with buhari in the era elections was worse couldn't beat buhari in North West East then... Besides GEJ won 7 out of 19 Northern states in 2011... Atiku is no buhari so osinbajo would have matched Atiku... Al APC would have done is pick zulum as deputy... Let's analyse logically and well... In 2015 APC was formed and had foothold in South West and North Central especially with PDP issues and how APC played opposition so all work for pmb to win...

Tell me you don't need money to win presidency in Nigeria or anywhere else.

Do you have an estimate of what it cost to organize one campaign rally in each state of the federation?

Osinbajo would just have to lean on Tinubu structure and finance bcoz even if he's VP for 20yrs he would still come beg Tinubu for finance and structure bcoz he cannot match Tinubu.

Osinbajo would have made Atiku president easily. Those votes Tinubu got in the North would have gone to Atiku. In fact, Atiku would not have stretch himself much.

Yes Osinbajo is good but he doesn't have the political machinery to win presidency. He hasn't built enough bridges across the federation to earn him presidency and this is not done in 2 yrs, 5 yrs, but decades.
