Justice served.

The Ekweremadus would wish it was in Nigeria!

That guy used them. I don't believe he didn't know or consented. He wanted to stay back and he used them to achieve his jappa dream. Think am well.

N3TRAL:
At this point we cannot deny that the plethora of leniency pleas sent by prominent African individuals and organisations, in the form of letters posted to representatives of the British Government, influenced the court in tempering justice with mercy.

It's a fair conviction and sentence, especially, due to the fact that the case is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom brought under the Modern Slavery Act of 2015.

They'll become better Earth citizens when they complete their jail terms.

I hope that my pretty Sonia gets a legal donor and completes the transplant successfully before her parents are released.

I also wish the brave victim well and hope that he goes through a soothing integration into European culture and society. He is the Hero of the story.

This is grossly unfair

At least nobody’s organ was actually harvested

And he wrote to British Embassy and duly informed them of the purpose of his visit and they never advised him. Not like he sneaked into the UK to carry out the procedure

Nigeria should cut diplomatic ties with UK until this rubbish is reversed
What is grossly unfair here?
You think it's Nigerian judicial that will twist the law.
The process Ekweremadu followed which is against the UK law served him the 10yrs, if the organ was eventually harvested sorry the jail term would be more than that.

That is a sane clime

The boy didn't know, they didn't explain to him fully,
They hid him some things,
There are many details of the case you don't know

The frequent WhatsApp conversations between Ekweremadu and the doctor during the process says it all.

Serves him right
I don’t feel sorry for him, when he was enjoying money he didn’t know
Ntooooorrrr!!!

Chai
But somehow I feel sorry for him, he was only trying to help his sick child.
Using another person's child to renew their lives after plunging millions into poverty and pushing them into desperation abi? Which normal person will sell his kidney for 8k$ ?

My brother, I'm pain in this injustice, if it was their Citizens the UK government will be shouting Russia or China is trying to oppressed them . A whole Nigeria senator, the Nigeria government didn't make any move at all. How is this organ harvesting I still don't understand until now. Seriouslyhuh That boy just do evil for nothing. That he is underage. God. I know our re not good but this case is clear.
shortgun:
This is not justice but witch hunting.

How can you sentence a man that wrote to your embassy about his intention to take someone to UK for the purpose of organ donation.
The donor is not a minor.
What nonsense law do they practice in the uk.
Someone can simply frame you up, boom you'll be serving a jail term

For the diseased cows quoting me and insulting their ancestors may y'all be sentenced for crimes you did not commit.

That is it . when you politcians always travel to abroad for medical treatment and abandon the hospital in nigeria and do not develop the nigeria hospital and make it better.....you can now see what has happened to you.. politicians should try and value what they have in their home, country and develop and make it better..not by running and traveling to abroad every time to do something that can be done in nigeria

The letter was fake. It was being peddled by our online news channels. Where in any of Ekweremadu’s defense did he make reference to to the purported letter? Not even once did the matter of that letter feature.

Very good. Hope they catch more Nigeria politicians for various offenses and jail them.
My prayer. And civil servants too. They wrecked Nigeria and they are the first to complain about bad governance. They are amongst us here on nairaland too.

He claimed he doesn’t know he was coming to UK for kidney donor - you believe him?
yes i believe the boy, I'm pretty sure they didn't tell him the whole thing. You guys should stop having sentiment when people are arrested, that's why corruption breeds in this country

In my opinion this is very embarrassing and a shame to Nigeria. It’s unacceptable and should be paid back in same kind. This action humiliates us as a people and shows the arrogance of the British people in their treatment of Africans. For god sake , Ekweremadu was a former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria and as such should have been accorded diplomatic treatment.
And so fvckin wat? So diplomats are good to commit crime? May be you are from the same state of from the same village or he is your role model.

How’s their daughters health condition now? What’s her fate?

Will UK still allow the transplants for her or what will UK do?
She's currently on dialysis
The UK will let her get a transplant if she sees a donor...but it must be free and willing...

That's why they call it Donor...

Law is a no respecter of nobody but unfortunately Nigeria is worse.
In a country like Nigeria, as in as rich as Nigeria, No one should be currupt. If they cannot be caught in Nigeria, may they be caught somewhere else. This one is a starter. more will follow.
