Good morning honorables. I'll be in the uk in 2 weeks time. As such, I have been actively searching and applying to blue collar jobs. This would enable me get going immediatley, while I work towards getting my desired career path.

But my shock is, I have gotten a few rejection mails
for some of the blue collar jobs (mostly night shifts) that I have applied to, and it is beginning to give me a cause for concern

Any tips on how to get a job aimmediately would be greatly appreciated.
I already have BRP and NI
Two weeks is too small to start getting agitated as you need to realise that you are just starting afresh . What I will advice you it try to talk to friends, church members and colleagues that you living in same city to guide you for you to learn the rope and try to exercise patience .
what you need now to take your time to understand how the systems work and getting yourself registered into the system. It took me exactly 3 months aftert getting into uk before I can get something reasonable and since then it has been from one level to next level . Unfortunately what is obtainable is different areas differs in term of opportunities of blue collar jobs which is why u need to get close to fellow naija u met in that particular area .
Las Las , in due time everyone go dey alright .

You need to calm down and get in first and lower your expectation. chances are that you may not get the job of your dream in the first 6months or more of landing in the UK. Take any job to help you settle down and support your family. There are people who land a good job within few months of arriving in the UK, keep applying and don't get discouraged by refusals.

You need to get in first, get an accommodation, bank account, mobile phone contract etc then start applying for jobs

That's the blue collar job that they are sending me rejection mails o, and that's why I first got shocked. Thanks for the headsup. I appreciate

that is why u should let your folks guide you as the blue collar jobs employers are now asking for experience workers now due to large influx of immigrant that are taken ove the jobs .Jobs are not automatic for Uk jjc like before but those that are already on ground already know the way to go about it .

Skipton is proposing a 100% mortgage product aimed at first time buyers with a minimum 12 -24 months track record of making consistent and timely rental payments, and can evidence affordability of a mortgage. Applicants will not need a family guarantor unlike other 100% mortgage products.

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/may/08/uk-mortgage-lender-100-loans-skipton-building-society

Pros and cons (DYOR) as there will be no equity to start with/risk of negative equity, but it's being marketed as a way to help renters who are not able to save a deposit and do not have access to Bank of mum and dad.

You're getting rejection mails for those jobs prolly because ure outside the UK. Your best bet, arrive the UK, look for agencies in your locality, call and tell them the type of job you want. Dem go find job for you if available.

I feel a temporary setback in equity....... Is still much better than paying your landlord's mortgage (on the long run).......😁

Bros, we are both on the same page on this mortgage wahala. This two years requirement to get a mortgage is messing me up. I just got an offer to buy a house but these lenders are asking me to bring 25%. The thing pain me oh.

I agree, on the whole it sounds like a good opportunity especially for those already paying rents that are comparable or even higher than a mortgage.

Some lenders used to offer bolt on loan facility(back in the days)..........

Look at other ways to seek the 25%....... When a will exists...... A way is always available.......

In my own case, the will really exist. But I have zero idea of any other way I can raise 25% (£100,000)

Very easy, type switch to Natwest on Google, you will be directed to their website to open an account which before you finish with documentation, you will be ask to put in the bank you are switching from, sort code and some details. So you will need to transfer 1,250£ into the account and open the bank App “, Full switch takes about 10 working days but before then you can use the account. They will move every info to your Natwest from you previous account on or before the 10th day. Within five days after that, you get your 200£ gidigba 😁

I asked the very same question and Lexusgs430 said I should run and I have been running from them since.
Otherwise, how can a petrol car be costlier that Diesel cars (Same Year Model oO).
They are trying to dump it on JJC's.

E plenty for Benz though

From what I’ve seen, the road tax is cheaper, insurance is cheaper and cars that are ULEZ Compliant still pay the same fee as diesel to drive in London. I don’t live in London so I no get the gist with diesel cars and why they get so much hate.

But not buying a car because other cities might follow suit with ULEZ charges is not a viable reason though especially for us living in small towns. Other than this ULEZ thing, is there anything wrong with diesel cars?

- They are usually heavier on the foot
- Excessive engine vibration
- Offensive smell
- DPF clogging
- EGR values failure

I hate diesel vehicles with a passion......😭

I was skeptical switching from Petrol to Diesel .. . I've now used it for almost 3 years now and haven't experienced any of these issues. AdBlue reduces the emission so no offensive smell either. You still dey beef that your Ijebu diesel car wey you dey drive back then🤣😭

Thank you guys for responding.

I spoke with the wife; she said she’s tired of everything and also whenever they have an issue, her husband will call her dad cos he knows she’s scared of her dad.
Also, the guy has never pushed for a reconciliation, it was always her.
She brought the guy into UK; all expenses paid by her. He was a teacher back home (30k salary).
They’ve got no kids; married for almost 2 years.

To me I feel the guy is like that because he didn’t invest in the relationship.
I’ve hands off and not telling him the advises I got from here. Whatever wants to become of him should be.
