Road wey be say d moment u enta am, u go drag ur mind wey dey far away to focus. ND d side is so deep with very long trees dat even kidnappers will be afraid of hiding there coz of fear of wild animals.

You will only understand this when you visit the place.
Coming from Enugu town to Ngwo/9th Mile.
You have a very deep valley by the right hand side of the road which there is nothing you can do about it.
The left hand side is a very steep and high mountain.
In between these two contrasting natural features, you have this meandering level land which serves as the motorable driveway.
That road is a good sight to behold.
While traveling on that road, you will be seeing some wildlife on that mountain.
You will see monkeys and their likes.
On the right hand side, you will be seeing these beautiful houses in an estate form down that deep valley.

Driving on that pathway must be the most dangerous thing in this country.

If it's your first time, you won't understand how high that hill is until you stop over and take a look.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi did a very good job on that road.

I don't want to believe your insinuation that driving on the road is the most dangerous this.
That road is not as dangerous as it looks here. It is very safe.
You don't need to be on a high speed here. Your speed should be between 40 and 60KM/H.
Secondly, there are overhead barricades that bar trucks and heavy equipment vehicles from plying that road.
Even a van like J5 is not allowed to use that road.
The only danger there will be the ones created by reckless and silly drivers.
I have not heard nor seen any accident on that road.

You only need a proper drainage system and modern infrastructure construction to control the erosion and SouthEast will be the most beautiful place in Nigeria.

The greenish pastures in SouthEast look like those ones in Winchester, UK.

Yeah...it may look like dat, but in reality, that road is the most difficult place for robbers and kidnappers to operate.
The reason is that there won't be any escape way for the robbers if they are bn confronted by either police or people around.
One side is a very steep valley that if u attempt to jump into, you will not make it alive.
The other side is a very steep hill that no one can climb.
Going forward, you will be entering a community.
Going backwards, will mean running into the New Market area.

Professional racing drivers would also love it. Winding roads are highly valued by race enthusiasts. The state to which this road belong could earn revenue from it by creating a yearly or quarterly motor-sport rally or Cannonball Run event.

Yeah...the two road are somehow similar, but the Miliken Hill is far safer than the Okigwe-ABSU road.
The ABSU road is narrower and has lots of damaged portions.
Miliken road is a bit wider and has very smooth road with barricades on the valley side to prevent vehicles running off into the valley.

I've seen people replying to your post but yet never answered you.

The reason why straight road can't be considered in such situation are many but I'll just highlight the most important ones.

1. Safety of road users: This has to deal with the road itself because a dangerous road won't be used by people. In road design, the slope of road shouldn't more than 5%. Which means for every 100m, the difference in the highest point and the lowest point shouldn't more than 5m high. In this particular road, doing straight road will see more than 20% slope which I'm very sure no engineer in the world can design a vehicle braking system that can catch up with it.

2. Cost: In road design, there's always what we called "Cut and Fill" and engineers always ensure that there's a minimum cut and fill to limit cost and to achieve at most 5% slope. In this particular road if straight road should be considered, the level of cut and fill will be too much and astronomically increased the project cost.

I think these two points can help!

Besides, not every where cut and fill can be applied, reason you see bridges and tunnels being constructed along roads. All these are still for the same reason to achieve at most 5% slope
