Why is an ordinary mayor coming to visit, why don't they send a full fledged governor if the president of the US cannot come? undecided

In terms of government hierarchy in the United States, a governor is a higher ranking official than a mayor.

A governor is the head of the executive branch of a state government while a mayor is the head of a municipal government.

So, a governor has more authority than a mayor. However, it's worth noting that the roles and responsibilities of a mayor and a governor can vary depending on the state and the specific laws in place.

thanks for the insight

seun, you have alot of work to do on your forum...some nairalanders are busy spewing gibberish and missed that important mention.

Make he advise Americans to invest in Nigeria

It's amusing to see Nigerians celebrating because a mayor of a city in the US wants to visit Nigeria. A mayor in the USA is equivalent to an LGA chairman in Nigeria.

What a disgrace!

Equate equivalent of mayor to any political office holder abeg. Who b mayor? Is he higher than a state governor?

While it is true that Mayor is equivalent to a Local Government Chairman in Nigeria, the
New York Mayor is more powerful and influential than most US elected officials except just a few like the President, VP, Speaker , some Ministers.

He is more powerful than the vast majority of the 50 Governors.

Simply because of what city he is Mayor of.

If the Mayor endorses any candidate during the primaries of his party, that candidate is likely going to win.

Now if it is the Mayor of a city like Gem Lake near Wisconsin, that one is not even qualified to meet the Special Assistant to the Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government grin

Eric Adams.....NYC mayor now...🤔

He has come a long way though...

I remember the times of late David Dinkins and Rudy Giuliani ( former mayors of NYC), he was in this organization he formed back then, "100 Blacks in Law Enforcement ", always on TV protesting then anytime there was a shooting of a black man or some "perceived injustice" to a colored person.
Many waters have passed under the bridge though.

From transit police officer to NYPD to NYS senator to Brooklyn borough president and now Mayor of NYC.

I wonder what his interest in Naija is? 🤔

Please..... delete this misinformation you are spitting out. The Mayor has no say in any matter concerning governors let alone FG. He can barely get the ears of Governor of New York State. He is wailing for help daily for the FG to help NYC manage the daily influx of immigrants

This guy is not a good Mayor... maybe he can be for a small city... but not YC. How can he help Nigeria in education when he is facing hell in managing his at home? I strongly suspect the visit is personal..... and to advance gay rights
Re: Eric Adams, New York City Mayor To Visit Nigeria On Sunday by Ellasure: 6:18pm On May 09, 2023
Eric Adams is not on the side of economic development and new investment in Nigeria or New York city. he is more known for pursuing people who have economic growth and development in mind out of New York city and state.

he can not sell on a foreign country what he has not been doing in his home territories.

we Africans in Africa should be wary of the black American leadership in us who are radicalized for lgbt and transgender activities. they could be very disruptive to a settings in need of economic growth and development.

he should be welcome with little or moderate expectations.

Delete what Oga? You are referring to an individual Eric Adams, I an referring to the position.

He governs the world's number 1 city with a population of 8 million and manages a budget of $104 Billion ( N76 Trillion) 3 times more than the entire Nigerian budget of N21 Trillion) and you say he has nothing to offer Nigerian Governors? I laugh in French.
