You must be kidding me, what happens to informing the government of beyelsa of your town planning drive? Informing them of the minimum structure type required, than giving them 14days demolition notice Oga? A state house is the state presence in your state, hence the least you can do is put them to speed with your development drive, and not this flimsy excuse to demolition a state presence in your state man.
And you got to know the owner of the buildings assuming in this case the government of Bayelsa was not communicated ab initio before issuing the 14 days eviction order just by reading this one sided reportage from Nairaland huh...how are you even sure the buildings have not being acquired by private individuals or some government officials collecting rents there without the knowledge of the Bayelsa government.

What is paramount is if the Rivers state government has acted within the armbit of the law and as demonstrated the government seem every inch in order. Whoever is aggrieved should go to court.

Of course, aggrieved parties should go to court, in this new system of go to court, where morality have been thrown into the thrash can, however, do remember that this precedence would hurt everyone if been embraced by all and sundries. We're still waiting for the new GRA Phase 3 AIT was demolished for sir. With regards

This is most uncalled for. Why can't the two State Governments revolve their differences through diplomatic channels instead of this show of shame?

The new GRA initiative is private sector driven, the government puts in place the basic infrastructure while individuals and property developers do the rest...if your pocket is fat enough you can go get yourself a plot there and develop to enjoy serene living in a decent well planned environment.

That's not called dirty , it's called a political suicide attempt. Wike will not be able to stay anywhere near south south after he leaves office , why can't a sensible man just reasons and retire in peace. He can't even choose his battles wisely. He will know what he weighs after he leaves office. He will run to Abuja
You have spoken well, but you see the highlighted phrase? It's a fat lie!

There's no atom of intelligence in your posts
You're perfectly paying the dummy just to defend your favourite politician
Point out where in the Op the building was said to be illegal
It's obvious you just jumped in to write rubbish not even bothering to have a little understanding of the issue.
Shameful for a supposedly educated person

you guys just come online to write thrash, I passed the AIT area this morning and the building is still standing, the adjoining land land was fenced but the AIT building has not been demolished, I think the government should regulate social media because of people like you that come online to spew thrash, have you even been to that street in Old GRA where the Bayelsa building is located? Many of you are just too daft

Don't mind Nigerians, I stay in Rivers, and Old GRA is like the ikoyi of Rivers, it's an expensive neighborhood, the government house and all former governors from Rivers stay in old GRA, just check the post above yours, do you honestly think a building in that state should be allowed to stand in such area?

Understanding seem very far from you...if it is not you would have differentiated between the concept of old and dilapidated. The government statement highlighted defacing not because the buildings are old but rather poorly maintained. If you haven't been to that area you should try and visit there and see for yourself.
I’m a victim of what happened yesterday
Bayelsa state government had a plan of renovating that building but because of the greed of your state government
We are now out of the place with out any fund or place to stay
My neighbor had to go to church with his property and his pregnant wife and his two children
No way for her to use bathroom
Just go around old GRA very well if you know there
You will understand my point

I sympathise with those affected but the needful ought to be done..if you go the the Rivers state government Facebook page when the governor went for project inspection at the now commissioned magistrate Court about 4 months ago, he specifically spoke about the structures defacing the old GRA area and government plans to do something about it.

These issue of enforcement is not limited to Nigeria alone..in advanced climes you dare not allow your building to appear so dilapidated, there are consequences.

Sentiments has no place in the business of governance, if the occupants on their own routinely maintain the buildings without waiting for the government of Bayelsa that can't even maintain her own buildings in Yenegoa to do it for them, I'm sure it wouldn't have come to this. The situation of those buildings speaks volume of the attitude of people toward public structure and buildings.

There are reasons why humans are different from animals, the way we live is one of it.

Let me be honest with you
He wants that building to himself
Have you asked yourself what happened to rivers state civil servants building at old GRA
Now belongs to a politician
If your really around there
Check around and see politicians building house ups and down
Sharing government buildings to a particular person
Is that how government works
We were chased out by force without a pinny
Am now on the street but I thank God my mum things are well kept all thanks to God

Shut you mouth and stop saying rubbish
Go around old GRA very well
You will still see a lot of old buildings
Stop saying what you don’t know or did not make research on
Or is it because you were not affected
Please point out where these old buildings are. They might be evading demolition.

It was not even Wike who contended with Wike on that land. The land belonged to Rumuokwachi people and they were in court with Ait. They had a favourable judgement against Ait and the government went all out to implement the judgement.

you guys expect Nigeria to move forward but when a government tries to enforce rules strictly you cry blue murder, when he invited the CJN to commission Mary odili judicial institute he spoke about the old buildings defacing old GRA and the government plan to aquire them, deep down in your heart should a building like that still be standing in the most expensive area in Rivers state? Are you aware that odili, Amaechi, and wike, deceased lulu briggs, Diete spiff and other important persons have personal houses in old GRA, and you expect that dilapidated building to stand? Imagine buildings like that in London, what do you think the government Will do? Nigeria can never be better at this rate, I give up on Nigeria.

Don't mind him, old GRA is the most expensive area in Rivers state, closest thing to an ikoyi or Asokoro in Rivers, odili, Amaechi and wike live there even if wike spends more time at his rumuiprikom residence. Nigerians are too sentimental.
