Happening since morning, Ibeno L.G.A of Akwa ibom state, was today invaded by Nigerian Army, lead by an informant one officer Kehinde Olatunji AKA 'Sheggey', to destroy bunkering diesel depot in Esit Urua community in Ibeno, and Ama Friday, also in Ibeno.

Diesel worths over 200 million was affected, while the army made away with drums of diesel.

Two disturbig things about this news:

1. The news piece gave a vivid description of the identity of the informant thereby putting his life at serious risk. It's more like the author of the news article wants the criminals behind the bunkering know with certainty the person who ratted them out.

2. The army has added to the problem of environmental degradation by setting fire to the facility. Like is there no other way to stop the operation of the illegal facility other thansetting fire to the place and releasing dangerous chemicals into the atmosphere?

It is another unique Nigerian problem. What I call local govt thinking. Though it really is across all spheres. It is the reason why the first response to any situation is to ban ban ban. It has always been like that. Situations that are complex and require deep analysis so there is a proper solution - fk that. We are ACTION people not English speakers and we will do it now now!

And as I had said in a previous discussion - our security guys seem to be at the bottom of the iq barrel. Their only answer to any challenge is to kill it.
