Awolowo Bent On Alliance With Ndi-Igbo Against All Odds Than Be Released From Prison Yet They Hated Him More Than Ever Even In His Grave

In the course of my evidence during my trial, I stated that my Party favoured and was actively working for alliance with the N.C.N.C. as a means, among other things, of solving what I described as ‘the problem of Nigeria’, and strengthening the unity of the Federation. In October 1963 (that is about a month after my conviction and while my appeal to the Supreme Court was still pending), a Peace Committee headed by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, made overtures to me through my friend Alhaji W. A. Elias to the effect that if I abandoned my intention to enter into alliance with the N.C.N.C. which, according to the Committee, was an Ibo Organisation, and agreed to dissolve the Action Group and, in co-operation with Chief Akintola (now deceased), form an all-embracing Yoruba political party which I would lead and which would go into alliance with the N.P.C., I would be released from prison before the end of that year. I turned down these terms because I was of the considered opinion that their acceptance would further widen and exacerbate inter-tribal differences, and gravely undermine the unity of the Federation

They won't see any Yoruba like Awolowo again.. the Tinubu that was over kind to them as Lagos governor, they have entered his bad book.

To be on the side of enemy during the war is the major reason for resentment against Awo.

I think he deserves what he got. If he had not begged Yakubu Godwin, Olusegun Obasanjo, Benjamin Adekunle, Muritala Muhammad and others in 1970, those guys would have wiped out those ungrateful people frim the map, and there wouldn’t have been anything called Igbo today.

But Awolowo pleaded with the brave solders to let the Igbo tribe exist, now Awolowo’s reward is deep hatred by the Igbos

One of the major causes of the Action Group crisis of 1962 was the insistence of Chief of Obafemi Awolowo that SG Ikoku from Arochukwu should replace Ayo Rosiji as the General Secretary of the party. Akintola pleaded with Awo not to make the mistake of handing over the party to an Igbo man but he refused. Awo had his way at the 1962 Jos congress and Ayo Rosiji was removed and replaced with SG Ikoku. Akintola left Jos immediately and he never settled with Awolowo till he died.

When it was time for the 1979 presidential election, the same SG Ikoku turned his back on Chief Awolowo who needed his support in the east desperately. Ikoku openly campaigned against Chief Awolowo.

The lesson of Awolowo’s rejection by the Igbos despite always wanting to align with them should never be lost on the political consciousness of all Yoruba people. Awolowo even went as far as nominating an Igbo man has his running mate in 1979 but still, they rejected. Funny enough, the people who rejected Awolowo severally and even voted Bashir Tofa over MKO Abiola are the ones who tried to scam us that they would have voted APC if it was Yemi Osinbajo on the ballot and not Bola Tinubu.

If Awolowo hadn’t shown disdain to northern elites, he would have been president. Northern political elites have their own problem but they are a more trustworthy and honorable partners than the Igbo political elites.

40% in a two horse race means 60% voted against him. You like him but 60% of your people voted against him in favour of Bashir Tofa. So much for liking him.

Its called politics and mind you Dr Ugo was VP to Tofa.
Abiola did well in Igboland.By the way another Yoruba man won 98% of votes in 1999 and 2003.

40% is fair. But no, the animosity between the SW and the SE is not abating soon. However, score 2 for SW
SW 2

They hate him so much that even Peter Obi used that hatred for campaign during his days in APGA.

Elections conducted between 1999 & 2007 were riiiiiiiiigged elections. They just write results at their result collation centres to decide which party wins in which ward, LG and then state which then automatically determines who becomes senator, governor or president.

Oh, you voted overwhelmingly against MKO because Ugo was Tofa’s running mate but voted overwhelmingly against Awolowo despite Dr. Umeadi being his running mate. Yeah, smart move, Just that we can see through your shenanigans.

The 1999 contest was between two Yoruba men. No other person was on the ballot other than Obasanjo and Falae. The Yoruba political leadership supporter Olu Falae and the northern elites supported Obasanjo. Typical of Igbos, they voted massively against Olu Falae, the Yoruba candidate in the race just to spite Yoruba people.

If anyone is crying before and after the election it is APC Yoruba who went about threatening Igbos in Lagos to vote Tinubu and start crying after they lost in Lagos.

Yoruba propagandists at work, no source, no link but just mere hallucinations of the poster. The same Awolowo that says starvation is a tool of war. The same man who gave all igbo politicians with bank accounts only £20 after the war.

And if all these blindfolded Yoruba people can take time and read this...it will help them in the future election most especially those Yoruba people who were being deceived to vote for Obi Peter...

I weep for my people.....most especially the younger generation because they are moved by social media most of them don't have a sense of political history...and because of this, The Yiibo politicians have succeeded in feeding them lies and propaganda on social media platforms like nairaland...as long as I'm alive...I will keep pricking the consciousness of Yoruba people on every social media platform...
