20,000 universities were ranked from all countries around the world. Nigeria made it ti the list of 2,000 globally ranked universities and made it to 1,164, yet someone up there who probably doesn't even have a high school certificate is complaining.

Imagine Nigerian universities receiving the necessary support and funding, I am sure they will make it to to first 200.

Despite the strikes, underfunding, lack of equipments and resources, they still made the list.

So many American, Canadian, and British universities didn't make the list. I think they have done well considering the circumstances.

Let me help you nitwit. Nigeria is budgeting about $500million on 14 federal universities. University of Cambridge alone gets a budget of £2.308 billion. How can you compete with that?

That means the likes of University of Ibadan is funded with $35million compared to £2.308 billion budgeted for University of Cambridge. How can you compete with such institutions? They have the resources to hire the best brains, build the best equipments, build world class laboratories and test centres. They have the resources to build world class facilities and projects. They cam embark on any projects or research because they have the funding.

Despite all the shortcomings of Nigerian universities, they were still able to get something. That I believe is a step in the right direction.

Bricks, lawns and equipment alone don't make a university. A university is first of all made by the presence of high-level academics and researchers before any other thing.

If you go by that, you'd understand why UI, OAU, UNILAG are the highest ranked in Nigeria. Some private universities in Nigeria are about beating some of these schools in terms of infrastructure but what about academics, research outputs and international reputation (which takes years to build)

University of San Diego and University of North Florida made it to 1990+, despite University of San Diego charging as much as $30,000+ for tuition fee, and you think University of Ibadan hasn't tried. You know nothing boy.

Uniben that comes to UNILAG to get VC and after the VC build UNIBEN after the model.of UNILAG, returns to classroom and Senate of UNILAG.

Many of you are too young so do not know your mates. Go and read the history of UNIBEN again o.

Go and read the history of your school again and how it was modeled to follow UNILAG.

Those 3 schools with OAU and ABU are the only schools we have in Nigeria in case you do not know sir. If you did not attend any of them for 1st degree, make sure you attend any of them for another degree or PG.
Meanwhile, below is just a hint of UNILAG the UNIVERSITY OF FIRST CHOICE. That is why you hardly find Akokites on Nairaland.
