Ukrainian air defences have stiched together a formidable array of anti missile and anti aircraft capabilities resulting in the debacle of last night's Russian effort. The US Patriot system in the hands of the Saudi's was ineffective because the Saudi armed forces is little more than a police force on viagra. Put the patriot system in the hands of Israelis as see if low tech kit csm take it out.

And this leads me to the point I alluded to earlier. The Ukrainians have bloody good technical skills; battle ops, improvisation and flat heirachy response times. They are a far more superior army to the Russians. All they have lacked is fire power. They have operated counter battery artillery better than any other army in recent times.

So I find the emphasis on the patriot quite funny. They have only two of those pieces. But they have large numbers of German and UK made air defence equipment that is far more potent than the one or two patriots that they have. If the Russian missile attack had been a success I would have expected that number of missiles including the so called hypersonic missile to have seriously dented Ukraine air defence allowing Russia to attack at will.

The offensive is still on. The Russianscross the donbas and crimea front has stretched Russian resources and punching through in places will not be too difficult.
Once the logistic chains are cut and impaired over the next few days, I expect the Russian front to fold relatively easily in sections of that ridiculously extended front line.

Respectfully, you don't just "stitch together" varying systems and expect high fidelity in Air Defense.

Look up literally every AD modernization process in the last 20 years. The US decided not to add more Iron Dome systems because it didn't fit their operational doctrine. Despite it having one of the best kill rate on the planet. India has been conducting year long strategic planning on what systems to get, what capabilities to press for or self-develop; and it isn't 100% complete. The UK does not have a Patriot system because it doesn't play as well as they'd like with their other systems.

So to assume that Ukraine can cobble together an AD blanket that rivals that of first rate militaries is downright lunacy.

The Americans had plenty of time to appropriately set up layers of defense in Saudi Arabia unlike the rush job ongoing in Ukraine. Furthermore, the system is highly computerized and the Americans always had "contractors" as part of the operating team for the Saudi installations. So you can't simply chalk the poor performance to inexperienced natives. With say a fighter jet, operator skill is a huge deal. Not with a missile defense system. You don't want an entire city blown to bits because some guy made the wrong call, so a lot of the decision (when to fire, tracking...) are performed by the onboard computer processor. Hands-off. A proto-AI if you will.

The Ukrainians are good technically, but the UKR Army is not "superior" to the Russian Army. Get off Zelensky's d*ck.
