The story no clear. The lady never talk wetin wan make her leave sef; even though I'm rooting for her to sue the police force for detaining her illegally.
You know how it is. When these issues come up in the office, there are often deliberate omissions that implicate the complainant to an extent. It will ultimately depend on the receipts each party in this story has kept

E nor matter wetin make her leave.. Even if na bad dream she get..

Point is for 1yr she dropped resignation letter.

From Ben's reply you'd see the only thing he talked about was absence from duty for 21days as a reason to charge her. He didn't even address the 1yr talk sef.

Ahn ahn

How long person go work for organisation wey them Don drop resignation letter for?
Ben is police PRO he will definitely read out what the police terms and conditions of service says. Ben has little or no say in the scheme of things as it stands.

That's why I suggest she sues the police force, the court will most likely rule in her favour and even ask them to pay her damages . All the whole media trial won't achieve anything in this case. That Nigeria Police Force is useless organization is not a news to most of us already.

I believe she's most likely being punished by her superiors for something she's not comfortable talking about. Na why dem no push her resignation letter for approval.

The only thing that can save the police is the years of service.

So if she's required to work a certain number of years before resigning and she has not then this will suffice..

But even Ben would have stated that if it was the case.

You say Nigeria Police force is a useless organization, and then u expect Ben the PRO of that organization to make statements that will indict that same organization ? grin

She should get a lawyer and stop whining on Twitter . Remember the female police officer who was dismissed cos she got pregnant while unmarried ? She got a lawyer, sued the police and got N5m as damages awarded to her by the court .

The pregnant officer sued police force despite the PPRO claiming Regulation 127 of the Police Establishment Act 2020 provides for the sack of an unmarried woman police officer who gets pregnant….. The court struck the useles regulation out and have the police compensate her.

No be everything supposed turn media trial

In a structured environment, If you are involved in some sort of disciplinary case or fraud case, you are automatically not allowed to resign until the case/investigation has been resolved.

That is why I am saying there may be more to the story.
Maybe for the police and the military but I don’t think it applies in all situations. Forcing someone to keep working for you even when they want to resign is nothing but forced labour. Your fraud/disciplinary investigation can go on whether the person is still working there or not.

It has nothing to do with social media; It has everything to do with Nigeria. Almost everyone knows that the moment he's released on bail that is the end of the case. That is why u see the police doing everything possible to keep him in their custody as much as the law allows.

He's not the first and won't be the last to travel out after posting bail. Even our politicians do it so far they didn't seize their passport. The koko is for him to be in court on the next court sitting. He can even make himself absent and claim ill-health with the aid of his physician(Politicians play this card a lot).

It all boils down to the fact that Seun is no different from the Bourgeois he's always criticizing on his live videos.

Madam is a lawyer, one guy who had a case had his passport seized and he literally procured a new one and got visa and travelled in and out of the country. Naija ehn.

With the way the police meant him on this matter, I still think it was a stupid move though

Nigerians can now request their commercial banks to issue them with a debit card which doubles as their National Identity Card at no extra cost, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami disclosed that yesterday, in Abuja.

The Card is going to be a form of multipurpose card where it will serve as your national identity card on one hand and also your bank card on the other hand.

Last year, NIMC introduced a smart ID card you can download from their app. It is just a smart card. You don’t need to have it physically, but that is becoming difficult for our people living in rural communities.”

According to Honorable Minister Pantami the banks are permitted to print the card along with either Mastercard or Visa card or any other kind of card.

“So when you apply for a card at your bank, you can indicate that ‘I want this card to be multiple purpose where it will serve as my bank card and also my national identity card. Both of them are going to be printed on the same card and it is going to serve the same purposes without any additional costs.” Pantami added.

The Minister disclosed that NIMC and the CBN signed a nondisclosure agreement to protect the privacy and confidentiality of card applicants.

“NIMC and the central bank signed a nondisclosure agreement where your privacy and your confidentiality must be respected in the course of providing the card for you. When you apply for the card, the bank will apply online to NIMC through their database. When they verify and confirm that your record in the database is in alignment with your record in NIMC database, it will be permitted and the card is going to be printed for you immediately,” the minister added.

I don't think standard employment terms apply here.

Ben Hundeyin said she was being charged at a court martial for desertion. In a profession where employees are expected or even obligated to sacrifice their lives for the badge, I don't think we can apply standard employment terms.

To be honest, whilst if she absconded before working her full notice period at a normal job, her employers would not only be well within their rights to try to recover salary costs from her, but a particularly petty organisation could legally pursue her for the cost of lost revenue, although they would need to be able to prove that her absence led to the organisation's inability to satisfy contractual obligations.

The biggest takeaway here is that everybody needs to read their employment contract thoroughly before they sign. If you signed up to work for a police force that includes detaining abscondees in its disciplinary handbook, then the game is the game.

For new Lovers of Nigeria expecting miracle to happen at Supreme Court tomorrow, below article is for you.

Stop fasting and praying for impossibility to happen - efforts in futility.

Appeal Court dismisses PDP’s suit against Tinubu, Shettima over alleged double nomination.

A three-member panel headed by Justice James Abundaga, in a unanimous judgment, held that the PDP failed to establish that it had a legal basis to institute the case.

The Court of Appeal, Abuja, Friday evening, dismissed an appeal by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his deputy, Kassim Shettima, in the 25 February election.

A three-member panel headed by Justice James Abundaga, in a unanimous judgment, held that the PDP failed to establish that it had a legal basis (locus standi) to institute the case.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP, in an appeal marked: CA/ABJ/CV/108/2023, had asked the appellate court to reverse the 13 January judgment delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court, Abuja which dismissed its suit on the grounds that the PDP lacked the legal basis to have instituted the suit.

While the PDP was the appellant, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC, Messrs Tinubu and Shettima were respondents in the appeal.

The PDP had, in the suit filed on 28 July 2022, challenged the validity of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket for the 2023 presidential election.

It argued that Mr Shettima’s nomination as the running mate was in breach of the provisions of Sections 29(1), 33, 35 and 84{1)}(2)} of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended), claiming that Mr Shettima had double nominations.

It claimed that as of the time Mr Shettima was nominated as a vice presidential candidate, he had not resigned nor withdrawn his nomination as candidate for the Borno Central senatorial poll.

The party argued that Mr Shettima’s nomination as a vice-presidential candidate, as well as the candidate for the Borno Central Senatorial seat, contravened the law.

The PDP, which sought an order disqualifying the APC, Mr Tinubu and Mr Shettima from contesting the presidential election scheduled for 25 February equally asked the court for an order nullifying their candidacy.

It further asked the court for an order compelling INEC to remove their names from its list of nominated or sponsored candidates eligible to contest the election.

The defendants, in their preliminary objection, urged the court to dismiss the suit for want of jurisdiction.

They contended that the plaintiff lacked the legal basis to institute the case, which invariably challenged APC’s decision and its nomination of candidates for the election, which were within the confines of the party’s internal affairs and thus, non-justiciable.

Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Abundaga, who agreed with the submissions of lawyers to the respondents, including Thomas Ojo of Lateef Fagbemi and Co, described the PDP as a busy body, who dabbled into issues that were internal affairs of the APC.

Justice Abundaga held that the trial court was right to have held that the PDP failed to establish its legal basis.

“The appellant, having failed to disclose its locus standi, this appeal fails and it is hereby dismissed,” he said and proceeded to affirm the judgment of the high court.

The judge also awarded N5 million cost against the appellant’s lawyer, J. O. Olotu.
