Before Abuja became the capital of Nigeria what was it like? Just a random undeveloped territory in the centre of the country. But go to Abuja today. It's the most beautiful and most developed territory in Nigeria all because it was named the capital of Nigeria.

If you move the capital to Zamfara today the region will develop almost immediately.
If you move the capital to Anambra it will develop too against all odds.
That's the power of a capital...

It doesn't matter if only 5% of Lagos was used as the capital... Development knows no boundaries, the outskirts must surely develop along side the actual designated area.

So you think the leaders In Lagos are different or smarter than other leaders around the country? What a dumb ass!
Bro Lagos is nothing but a beneficiary of national resources as a former capital.... The region was developed to be the pride and showcase the might of the entire country to the world.. and the funds that made that possible came from all over the country.

Moving the capital to a local government in Anambra would not transform the entire Anambra state as witnessed in Calabar, Lagos and Abuja.
There was little or no development on the other 4 divisions that later formed Lagos as at 1991 when the capital status was moved from Lagos to Abuja. Move the capital away from Abuja and the development there retrogress without good leaders in place.
Lekki was no where near Port Harcourt in terms of development in the 90s but we have good leaders that sustained the development of Lagos even after Lagos ceased being the capital of Nigeria. Lagos is a South West region and no other region can claim it if we operate a regional system.
One of the reasons the UN does not recognise a country called Palestine and instead recognise Israel is that Palestines were Arabs that came to trade in Israel, they lived in Israel for almost 1500 years, contribute enormously to its development but the region( Jerusalem) belongs to Israel according to the UN. That other tribes contribute to the development of Lagos does not deprive Lagos of belonging to the indigenes. Cheers bro!.

You're attacking straw man bro - not my point- Lagos was not the only city handpicked by the colonial masters though. 1976 is not yesterday, try to be informed. Abuja gained the capital status in 1976 and became the capital after many infrastructures were in position in 1991. 50 years estimation is not just yesterday so cheers!.

50 years was just yesterday when compared to the years Lagos Enjoyed as the colonial masters #1 administration centre... and also their most preferred trading town because of its geographical location (since mid 19th century) that's a long time.. even before it became the official capital of the Republic (and continued enjoying more attention and national funds than every other regions in the country)
