The double nomination dey part of LP petition at the PEPT.
But that case is not what supreme court ruled over today. Na PDP case supreme court rule over, not the election petition.

[color=royalblue]Apart from PDP and LP, is there any other party that should even talk?

Just type NNPP here, and watch Mukina ban us both.

Sowore nko grin

Anyway, if what NNPP is alleging is true(that their logo was omitted from the ballot), they have good grounds to go to court. They said they decided not to go because they are students of history and they know no court has ever removed a sitting president.

I agree with them cheesy

It doesn't matter whether Tinubu will be president for 4 years or president for life. What matters is if anybody feels aggrieved about anything they can approach the courts, court will listen to the lawyers of all parties, pass their judgment and all parties abide by the judgement at the end of the case.
Since we know what the judgement will be at the end of the case, there's no point. That's where I stand.

This reminds me of the conversation we had about spoilers in movies. If the outcome of an event is known, there's really nothing to look forward to.

Tinubu came to win an election and he used the less intelligent Obi to decimate his main opponent
The SC has knocked off the PDP case against Tinubu. It's a bitter sweet taste because if PDP succeeded, Atiku would be sworn in. That's something I equally do not want. So it's OK.

One bullet dodged.

I hope say you go travel down for the handover party on Monday?

Theflint1:
Naaa, election petition tribunals open up questions on processes in legislation and election conduct, which in turn leads to better-written laws, and better-run elections, essentially plugging loopholes as they arise. If we don't question processes we can't improve, and however little the issue might be with the process, if the losing parties believe they have a legitimate case, by all means, they should always be encouraged to take matters to court.

Atiku and Obi requesting election petition tribunals should be televised live is something I didn't think of prior, and something I back, makes court processes a little bit more transparent. Also, the issue with the poorly written Abuja debacle raises another set of questions, which may eventually lead to that portion of the constitution getting a review so it's clearly understood by all parties.
I just hope you're not part of those who argued that the last election is the worst we've had. If you are, it invalidates everything you have just written here.

The double nomination dey part of LP petition at the PEPT.
The issue of double nomination is a genuine reason for disqualification, but there are technicalities.

The PDP suit is a pre-election one. That makes it lack locus standi. The case in the tribunal is post-election petition. As a post-election petition they have the locus standi to institute it as a ground to disqualify APC.

Just to clarify, before the election, only someone who contested the primaries can institute such a case. After the election, only someone that took part in the election can institute the case.

Don't think PDP are stupid for going all the way to SC. They want to know all the technicalities involved so that it can be used in the PEPT. So as it stands now, the only defense the APC has over this matter is the jurisdictions to hear the case. If that is all, then there fire on the mountain because they have to look for other defense at the tribunal.

I don't blame her for voicing outcry against it. Social media has helped a lot of people in distress. Maybe she felt this issue needed a public outcry. One can rationalise that.

You can have good policies in place, but if they're sabotaged from within and without, they fail, and these failures are feedback that things can be improved still. Policies regarding election conduct in Nigeria have improved, but so too have strategies for sabotaging elections.

Soludo’s appeal
Mr Soludo, in the letter, said the continued detention of the IPOB leader has continued to affect residents of the South-east who are forced to observe a sit-at-home order on Mondays out of fear.

The governor expressed surprise that despite a call by the United Nations Human Rights Council for the release of Mr Kanu and various court rulings in Nigeria freeing the IPOB leader, the federal government has refused to release him.

“In the meantime, the continued detention of Mazi Kanu has created what, for want of a better description, can be seen as systemic insecurity in the South-east.

“Some supporters of Mazi Kanu have imposed the obnoxious and harmful sit-at-home order every Monday in the South-east, while all manner of criminal gangs- kidnappers, bandits, armed robbers etc.- now masquerade as ‘freedom fighters’ or those fighting for the release of Mazi Kanu,” he wrote.

Mr Soludo told the president that Mr Kanu was reported to be “gravely ill” with life-threatening conditions which he listed to include serious heart condition, hypertension and low potassium levels.

The governor stressed that the medical conditions require specialist medical care and interventions which are unavailable at the SSS facility where Mr Kanu is being detained.

“In the light of the foregoing, it is my earnest prayer that Mr President may kindly consider the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Kanu as demanded by the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Federal High Court.

“This will be the right thing to do as a country that should extol the principle of the rule of law in compliance with the international law and conventions that Nigeria is signatory to,” Mr Soludo added.

The governor told Mr Buhari to consider granting Mr Kanu an “administrative bail on compassionate grounds and as part of national healing” if there were persisting grounds that would make his unconditional release “untenable.”
“In this circumstance, I am prepared to take him (Kanu) on bail. My government is prepared to provide him with alternative secured accommodation at Awka where he will have access to appropriate medical care, among others, and make him available when required,” he assured.

He said it was necessary for Mr Buhari to release the IPOB leader given that Nigeria has gone through a “very consequential election” and that part of the smart steps to be taken must include an agenda for national healing and addressing lingering insecurity, especially in the South-east.

Mr Soludo pointed out that the fight against insecurity in the region has not fared well because of lack of “wider constructive engagement/dialogue between the Federal government, South-east leaders and other critical stakeholders on a form of coordinated political solution.”

He said the release of Mr Kanu was not only a legal or compassionate thing to do, but also a patriotic act to advance the cause of security, peace and development of the South-east region.

“As you shepherd a transition process to handover to your successor, you might as well help to smoothen his easy take-off by resolving some of the lingering issues such as Mazi Kanu’s detention.

“I therefore respectfully call on you, as statesman, to discharge a historic show of mercy and release Nnamdi Kanu before you handover on the 29th May, 2023,” Mr Soludo said in the letter.

Okay what if Simon ekpa doesn't stop.
What if it turns out that the killings take a different dimension with a different justification from the bastards?

What also happens to the innocent people that have been killed because of this IPOB matter? How do they get any form of justice?

Lol, they're unlooking but observing, and taking notes, in the hopes of wearing Soludo the IPOB-sympathizer robe if he ever comes out to contest in the future.

Soludo is far from being a populist politician, and that's refreshing, taking a position of this nature when it's become unpopular to ask for any form of clemency for IPOB is bold. I dunno how the "repentant" Boko Haram members analogy applies to Nnamdi Kanu though, is Nnamdi Kanu also "repentant"? And is he or Simon Ekpa in control of IPOB?

Soludo inherited a terrible security situation which is making governance impossible for him given how Obi and co encouraged IPOB into the monster they currently are

Soludo is simply trying to make the best of a bad situation he inherited. When YarAdua administration gave amnesty to MEND militants, People like GEJ acted as surety for MEND yet he wasnt the one who created MEND just to make his regime smooth

One of the ways to stop IPOB is for Obi to tell his boys to stop all misbehavior but since Obi does not want to do that for political gains, Soludo is seeking another option because at the end of the day, he was the one who made a promise to Anambra to provide good governance

It's actually funny reading how passionate Soludo sounded in the letter ; like he's ready to risk it all grin.

I remember reading earlier this month when he threatened to cut the salary of workers who decided to obey the sit-at-home order. All that hardman talks just flew out of the window with this Soludo letter.

There is no guarantee to anything, Its a gamble that Soludo is making to appeal to the killers

Even in the US, deadly terrorists have been released or negotiated with for the sake of peace even if its temporary
