Of course the native herbalist fails not to disappoint as usual. Comparing oranges and apples. Permanent fuel subsidy removal is different from TEMPORAL cash scarcity.

Obidients and nigerians at large understood and endured willingly, the pain of naira scarcity because we all could see the end of the tunnel.

We all knew and believed that cash crunch on election day could be a good thing in a country where people were ready to sell their votes for urgent 2k and corrupt wicked politicians with 2 bullion vans in their homes could do and undo, so we swallowed the pain of the cash crunch knowing that on or after election day, that problem will be over and hindsight has proven us correct.
In as much as the election results were rigged and voter intimidation rampant, vote buying was severely curtailed in the last elections. We barely saw any video of people sharing cash on election day unlike previous elections.

Comparing that with this subsidy issue where even the government is confused on what to do next not to talk of ordinary nigerians not knowing what to do next or what is in store in the future exhibits your terrible partisanship which has beclouded your judgement. Do better, native abortion doctor.
Is this necessary?

I think your sense of reasoning about the cash crunch is being clouded by hindsight cuz at the time all these talks of cash swap happening because of election is purely speculative. official reason for the swap was that there's too much unaccounted for cash in the system and the swap would either make the owners bring the cash back into the system OR have their monies stop being a legal tender. Truth is we and the government at the time were very confused and don't know when the end in sight would come at the time, recall that the government made it clear that they intend to promote cashless economy and mop up excess liquidity. Now that you've seen the end you're now concluding like you knew the whole time how it was gonna end. did you at any point predict the old notes would later join the new in becoming legal tender? hindsight is such an amazingly beautiful thing, isn't it?

I also do find it unconscionable and disturbing how you rationalised deaths of people, destruction of properties, grounding of businesses just because you assumed these effects would've helped your Obi become president who will then turn this country into Dubai. This is a good sign you and your close family were immune from the effects and if it doesn't affect you then everyone else be damned and those damned People are sacrifices you're willing to make

This is not to say I'm in support of Tinubu's actions however even Obi that you support made it clear that he would've immediately removed subsidy when he becomes president so there's no reason to believe he wouldn't have done exactly what Tinubu just did. of course, you can debate what he means by "immediately" all day. be my guest

NB:I would've called him out exactly how I am doing if he had taken same route as BAT'S.

Like I usually say,I don't have time to trust any politician's manifesto ...I criticised and eulogies what I see n witness

He clearly said he will remove it first day in office completely and gives his reasons. Very good reasons by the way.

If he didn't say he had a concrete plan to alleviate or diminishes d effect of abrupt removal then he would have definitely receives same criticism.

It is beyond politics..it is all about humanity and a sense of understanding the effect of insensitivity of some policy especially when done at a very wrong time

Do you know that subsidy ended May 30th instead of June 30thhuh?

NB:i still would have criticised BAT as I am today if by june 30th no plan was brought forth to cushion the extreme effect it would result to .

From the context.. it is obvious he was referring to june 30th......he would have meant same resistance from my end

..........₦30k per week or month? I know situation in the country is bad, but how can Someone be comfortable with ₦30k per month?

What happens to alternative source of income like running POS business? Well, I strongly hope palliatives are in the plan and will be rolled out soon to cushioning the effects.

The only palliatives reasonable here is to stretch it till we are ready to remove the subsidy..

We are ready only when we see other things working or at full display..

Things like ..

Reasonable electricity n cutting of unnecessary bonuses....

Truth in the amount of fuel we consume as a nation

Block smugglers and be thorough about it.

Let farmers believe they can work in their farm....

Give Dangote crude at discounted price while working on those things I highlighted

Our lives depends on fuel here Nigeria......
Stretch it with which money? Did you not listen to Mele Kyari?

The government can begin to give companies and industries some percentage of tax waivers, and that percentage must reflect in the salaries of their workers

The government can subsidise major food items from the wholesaling phase, so that people will have some relief as the reality of no subsidy progresses.

Even Power, they can give some tax waivers so that the consumers can see lesser charges of their bills. If i will pay 600 for petrol, I'll be glad to see that my NEPA bill isn't high, or I can now buy more units with my urgent 2k

These can be done for 3 months, or even 6, depending on the nation's coffers.

And probably there are other sectors they can help reduce the burden for a while
Government is trying to access more money to carry out development projects so, I don't see how moving from one subsidy regime to another will help...

I support the clamor for the government to cut cost at all levels and I mean reasonable cost. When we talk about palliative for the poor, I wonder what data we use to arrive at who is poor or who is rich in Nigeria. If your subsidize food items, you will only be taking money for subsidy from fuel to pay for food just same thing as subsidizing local transport because even the rich will also access this services or how do you determine who benefits from it or not? Who do you consider as poor in Nigeria?

I support those who say the government should ensure our borders are not porous to avoid desperate Nigerians diverting PMS to neighboring countries.

If we secure our borders and tackle oil theft with sincerity, then we can make progress by ensuring our refineries are functional (At least 60% output should do).

If we successfully stop oil theft then we can start thinking of selling crude to Dangote at a reduced cost in exchange for cheaper PMS. The millions of barrels stolen can serve the masses.

Born-again pseudo-humanists. grin

Laughing when people were dying of hunger and were forced to climb banks to get their own money. Lying on the general Nigerian populace (including those who died during that period) that they willingly agreed to suffer through an ultimately pointless exercise.

Now the pseudo-humanists have found God and are shedding egbere and crocodile tears about the plight of the people. The same people that they were laughing at a few months ago.

We just need to set the record straight for the sake of posterity and history. Crocodile tears should not move anybody.

PETA will finally have a cause they won't be mocked for. Your RSPCA fit enter the matter as well. Then us night comedians. Then they meme and mock the hell out the 'stacked Nigerian influencer' eating sadistically dog meat for the clicks.

If she is really unlucky, when she gets interviews they will reference it. She better start thinking fast on what kind of response she can give.

My brother, you are so detached from reality cheesy

Those who earn 30k live from debt to debt. There is no money anywhere to set up any alternative source of income.

When the salary comes, they use more than half of it to settle debts. They have rent of roughly 5k a month to pay(could be more), toiletries to buy, food, transport to work e.t.c gulps the remaining and they have to borrow again before the month ends.

It's an endless cycle of debt.

I clearly typed 3 months there. Did you not see it? Did I say they should do it forever?

And which one is we cannot define who is rich and poor in Nigeria?

Just last year, the same FG said 133 million are living in poverty. So what other stringent measure do you need to classify a poor Nigerian, when for every 3 you pick, one is poor?

How long do you think a man earning 30k a month would keep up to his job, before he resorts to crime, since his cost of living has skyrocketed on a budget of 30k?

All your solutions has no relation to to what i typed. You can stop oil theft and wait for Dangote to serve millions, while providing little reliefs here and there for people who are poor.
