IamDietiesGod:
What an interesting write-up. The points raised are valid...

It always amaze me how we Africans could totally sideline our own, indigenous religion for a religion that is not ours nor did it originates with our culture. Most Africans have even put traditional religion as Dark, figuratively a symbolism of bad and evil ( But what do you expect, when that is what western religion, which has flood our mind wants us to believe)

The western religions with other indigenous religions has been stereotypically made to be believed, literally as a contract and figuratively as an oxymoron or a paradox.

The climax has now worsen to the extent most Nigerians, by extension Africans have no iota of ideas of any progenitor of their tribes by extension their culture and religion.
It is a terrible situation, my brother.

I personally suspect the ancestors and deities are angry with us over this wholesale abandonment of their heritage, in favour of that of the invaders.

It could be why we have all these problems today.

Not a shrine. A temple.

Shrines were always emergency outposts by migrating priests who couldn't afford to build temples.

Temple worship was the original style of worship in African religion.

It was from African temple worship in Nubia and Egypt (which was black African in antiquity) that the Greeks, Romans and Arabs learnt to build their ancient temples and later on their 'churches' and 'mosques'.

Artistic rendition of an ancient African traditional religious temple in Egypt (KEMET) which was a black African civilization in antiquity.

This was how our ancestors worshipped during the golden eras of African civilization.

Which of the traditional religion will be represented. There are so many different traditional religion to be found among various ethnic groups.
The differences are very minor compared to the tenets and philosophies they share in common.

A way can be found to harmonise their worship, even if it means having multiple altars in their own respective cubicles or sections in a temple.

So if you enter the temple and your own is IFA, you go to IFA section or cubicle. If you’re an ALUSI of the Igbos, you have your own cubicle, with the altar of the great Ibinukpabi there waiting for you.

It’s not hard.

Big man I am interested in this topic because I don't follow religion anymore I believe more in humanity but my question is this :

If our forefathers were so powerful and highly spiritual as you said why were the colonists able to conquer them and enslave people.
Why did our forefathers decided to embrace the way of the west.
We have a long way to go because we are totally lost as a people.
