Tareq1105: God bless you. I am tired of explaining what you did above again and again. Hence my decision to stop talking about the subsidy removal. A golden rule of mine is that action speaks louder than words. It won't be long before most Nigerians, aside the ethno-religious fascists who despise Tinubu because of his ethno-religious and sectional background, begin to praise him when the positives of subsidy removal begin to bed in very well. For now, let the ignorant and biased folk talk till blue in the face. 2 Likes |

countryman13: There is no proof Falana is being considered to be AGF but nobody, especially a progressive and pro-people character like Falana, is past taking an appointment that can set his/her beloved country and people on the part of progress and development that can make nation and people members of the prestigious "developed Countries" association. You simply don't know Falana and others like him even if one of the most famous adage confirm who they are. I.e "evil thrive when good men do nothing". Falana will never reject a call to duty if it is genuine and he is sure he will be able to contribute his part meritoriously towards Nigeria's rebirth and development. 1 Like |

Truth be told, Tinubu is the most prepared for the presidency among all contestants, leave sentiment aside. He's reaching out to associates and opponents alike, destabilizing the strength of his adversaries by engaging them strategically for one purpose: Get the country back on track of greatness. He listens, proof positive he's a wise man. It's really his turn to lead. He deserves it EMILOKAN. |

Okealaaye: Tinubu…..a ‘confirmed democrat’!? You’ve got to be kidding me! A man that corrupted the entire electoral process from party primaries right up to election day is who you’re calling a ‘democrat’!? And we’ve not even started on what his thugs got up to in Lagos pre gubernatorial election and on election day proper! A large part of Nigerias’ problem is greed, lust for power and bigotry! This leads to people seeing black and unashamedly calling it white! Tinubu has done next to nothing in his unfortunate first week in office….that is besides worsening the plight of Nigerians! The only reason he appears to be ‘reaching out’ is because he’s desperate for acceptance and he’s still not sure if he has this thing in the bag! If the supreme court somehow manages to ‘legitimise’ his actions pre and during elections, then that is when the true arrogance, despotic, bigoted and vindictive tendencies in him will surface! You just watch and see! |

Tareq1105: Circumstances are different indeed. What if it was Peter Obi or Atiku that is President and removing subsidy this shoddy way, will you be saying same? By the way, does it occur to you that subsidy payment was provided in the budget to cover till June ending, why is Tinubu removing subsidy in May? What happens to the billions earmarked as subsidy payment for June? Whose pockets will that enter? You are talking about corruption, what do u know about it. You think Tinubu is not going to recoup the monies he spent on elections? Continue to decieve yourselves. Obviously, the Yorubas are now doing same thing defending Tinubu the way the Hausa/Fulanis were doing by defending Buhari at all cost. Am sure the ibos will do same for Peter Obi. Hausa, Yoruba and ibos are the real major problem of Nigeria. 1 Like |

A party that sold presidential ticket at the rate of N100 million to 17 politicians is telling Nigeria to endure the pains of subsidy removal because the country is too broke. Cost of nomination form in APC = N100 million Cost of nomination form in America's major parties = approximately N26 million 17 people conveniently paid for nomination forms in APC, including people who couldn't secure 1 vote at the primary election. But yeah, the country is broke. Lets remove subsidy so those who would never make 100 million up to their 10th generation can pay a price for a "new Nigeria." The ordinary Nigerian has been paying the price of bad roads, unstable electricity, zero water supply, etc. etc., but yeah, subsidy is the new price you have to pay for your f.oolishness. A country where Goats were buying presidential nomination forms for N100 million (like pure water), they somehow managed to convince you that you are the problem. |

countryman13: Lol. I don't know your relationship with Falana but every Nigerian who can read and research will be able to quickly see who Falana is. I don't always agree with everything he does but he is generally an uncompromising force for good in my opinion. I think he will accept the right opportunity, from a sincere and genuinely pro-people government, to do his bit for Nigeria. My own opinion sha although I can agree you may have private knowledge of Falana that makes you believe otherwise. 1 Like |

@ggood, how did you gauge his knowledge about the economy? That's why I say some black people are stupid, because their reasoning is just too plastic. What you launched is just lame attempt to discredit Falana and make him irrelevant. You are very shallow in thinking and too narrow- minded in perception. Expertise has little to do with knowledge. For a man with a robust mind, he can stretch his knowledge, imagination in unimaginable ways. Intelligent people are NOT specialists in their interactions with the wider society. They have a broad range of ideas they deal with. But as it is prevalent with many black people, reading is laborious exercise that's time consuming. I'm certain you don't read 1/3 of the books Falana reads. And, you don't follow socio-political and economic trends as he does. In short, you're not cut from the same cloth. |

Through the last week, a lot of suggestions by analyst, downstream experts including OPEC consultants, the academia and the Labour union have been suggested as a template to adopt on the anticipated breakthrough of the subsidy regime. Some of them are as follows; 1, Increasing minimum wage to reflect the current realities. Once subsidy on PMS is stopped accruable revenue to the states increase exponentially and states with good IGR can afford good wages. 2, A comprehensive audit assessment with an objective of finding out the main beneficiaries of the illegal subsidy regime. A privately owned petroleum marketing company was alleged to have been paid a whooping N200B in 1 year for claims on subsidy receipts by NNPC. The principal actors should be prosecuted and a fund should be set aside for the recovery of loots. E.G The presidential initiative on subsidy recovery funds. This will serve as a sinking fund for capital projects like the Lagos- Abeokuta expressway etc. Plea bargain option and whistleblowing should also be introduced. 3, Provision of Mass transportation vehicles powered by gas, electricity, diesel or alternative means of energy (To be assembled in Nigeria) to all states targeting the young, elderly and vulnerable groups in all 774 local govts in Nigeria. 10 per LGA excluding Lagos,Abuja, Oyo and Kano which are more densely populated. Also transport unions will be engaged on giving a discounted fair to distributors of Food Crops which are moved interstate. 4, Implementation of the Oransanye report on the merger of MDAs and avoiding duplication the civil service e.g office of the SGF that has more than 13 parastatals, NIDCOM & Min. of foreign affairs, Ministry of Information & Special adviser on media, public affairs etc. 5, Reducing the cost of the national assembly through the Revenue Mobilisation and fisical Commission. Or an option of passing a bill to merge the House of assembly to a unicameral one. 6, Provide incentives for the local refining of crude with focus on the major functional refinery Dangote Refinery on the currency of exchange for purchase of crude oil from NNPCL whilst ensuring production and allocation of crude stimulates domestic consumption and demand. 7, The executive should show example by reducing thier emoluments and benefits with at least 30%. 8, Headhunting and appointing core professionals and technocrats as Ministers in sensitive and key ministries excluding politicians with specific 24 months KPI on the improvement of performance in such ministry. 9, Creative articulation of a sound tax and revenue regime with the introduction of taxes specific targeted in areas e.g the stamp duty, entertainment industry or creative taxes etc. 10. Review of appointments of highly respected experts in all revenue generating agencies with realistic KPIs. FIRS, NNPCL, Customs, FRSC. 1 Like |

CharleyBright: What are Yoruba defending Tinubu for? For doing what all the presidential candidates promised to do if voted in? For stopping what people like Ngozi Iweala, Akinwumi Adesina and Lamido Sanusi all described as a drain of the Nigerian economy? If you supported Obi and you are now calling for a strike for subsidy removal does it mean it would have been OK if Obi did it? 1 Like 1 Share |
