Oga! You don't have to make it a law before favouring the indigenes of a particular place... Make it law a law, it will run contrary to the provisions of the Constitution. N.B I'm from Benue State. Stop using everybody to be igbo when they oppose obnoxious policies from your tribe. 😡😕😕 In Benue, we have 3 major speaking tribes amongst others and you want them to make law and say... Employ 30 indigenes across the state and the rest 2 spots to any other tribes in Benue. How does this sound to you? Anyways, it won't see the light of day...
Ogbeni! Who told you laws can't be made to address diversity within a state? the federal character that ensures that one person per state is given ministerial appointment across the country is a similar case, if not for that will Buhari not tilt the appointment badly in favour of the north? since so many of his non - federal - character appointment is one sided and they accused him of that, which he apologized for.
"make it a law, it will run contrary of the constitution bla, bla, bla...if something is practised now and federal government has not moved against anybody, you are saying state can't make their laws.

it's not all you do in your State Benue than you can do in Kano or Zamfara state, then you will cry to the Federal Government thay they don't allow you to eat publicly during fasting, take beer , sell this or that because it's in the constitution that you can do whatever you want to do in any part of the country as long as you are a Nigerian ok ;

Your state Benue is being dominated by Tivs and other tribes are crying , may be sensible legislation will help put things in fairness for all tribes, fairness for all, and reduction in animosity and bloodshed.

I don't know the reason for this apprehension, a state just want to make things more statutory for the benefits of it's indigenes and outsiders are worried, does it mean they will seize your bread?

And I don't care if you are Igbo or from Benue (although there are indigenous Igbo in Benue), all I care for is the issue on ground and not about being Yoruba or not.

You guys foolishness will put you on bad side soon. We already know that you don't have land to sell again, all you want to do is to forcefully collect from the ones you sold out and all this excuses you are giving that somebody said this or that concising Lagos is just a tactics. Criminality and propaganda is the DNA used to classify people that act in the way you guys are acting. Dullard thinks they can use senseless tactics to collect back what they already sold off.
You have nothing sensible to say except criminal, sell land ya ya ya ........The last time una see "ORO" run next time na "SOPONO"
EFULEFU! you are uneducated if not you wouldn't say Yorubas wants to take back the land they sold when most of the sales have legal backings....bro stop being daft.

Bro, the history is hidden for a reason. This is what real indigenes of Florida and parts of California looked like.

The United States paid bounty hunters (any white with a gun) $12 for every male scalp and $6 for women ones, they paid a little change for children’s scalp or the ones that were alive got fed to alligators.

https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/nov/15/new-england-once-hunted-and-humans-for-money-were-descendents-of-the-survivors

^^ you would have to dive deep into research journals, newspaper articles published during those times to get the full gist because attempts have been made and continued to be made to hide these unfortunate events and true identities of the people involved.

First and foremost, don't oppose the notion that Red Indians/American Indian/Native American e.t.c are the aborigines.

Secondly, I know about the cruelty of White supremacists/Europeans , the story and the history are not hidden and are well documented, infact you yourself can access some of them.

The White supremacists/Europeans were brutal during expansionism period where they dominated the American Indians resisting their expansions across United States , their land taken , some of them were killed, e t.c

Thirdly, just like abolition of slave trade, the story you made reference to is not what is obtainable today, that's what we are saying and the reason I made mention of 16th century.
Laws have been modified several times to accommodate the interests of the indegenes amongst other modern and humane laws.

The Gbadebo issue is purely political!
They just capitalised on ethnicity and Lagos is no man's land mantra and the flaws of those who holds such insane position.
Those who stopped him are APC, even thugs from any part of the country could have been paid to carry out such service , as long as money is involved , including Yoruba thugs of course
Just like wike stopped people in Rivers and what is obtainable in other states.

Those who voted for Obi in the presidential election and could have voted for Gbadebo in the gubernatorial election are also those Lagos based Ondo, Oyo e .t.c indigenes you mentioned .

So don't mix the two, if you are fighting APC go ahead and fight them but don't make Yoruba people your problem or is Lagos not Yoruba land? even though a lot of them in Lagos still assisted Obi in winning Lagos before APC thugs came and hijack the governorship election.
your take is very reasonable sir.

But Peter Obi an Igbo man won virtually the entire states across southern Nigeria cheesy cheesy cheesy
Lol, yes, he won on social media. Too bad, Social Media isn’t real life.

I saw Obi the illiterate market trader challenging the results of Ekiti and Ondo in court. That’s hilarious and it shows Igbos are clueless when it comes to Yorubas. Yoruba people from Ekiti and Ondo are the most pro-Yoruba people in Yorubaland and it has always been like that since the AG days with Awolowo. You can present the worst Yoruba dreg against any non-Yoruba technocrat in an election and the Yoruba dreg would win both Ekiti and Ondo states convincingly. They’ll always vote for Yoruba, regardless.

I doubt Obi won even in Lagos which was the only state he “won” in the SW tbh.

Thanks for the great feedback and adding more meat to the topic @Creeper.

Ah! Indeed, I have a fantastic YouTube documentary video made by Mr. Tunde Kelani about the history of Porto Novo (Ajase Ile) which is a Yoruba city in Benin Republic. The Oba of Ajase Ile told Tunde Kelani that his ancestors migrated from Iseyin to establish Ajase otherwise called Porto Novo centuries back.

What also interested me was his reference to how the Yorubas of Ajase allowed the Ogus to settle in their midst. The Ogus were said to be related to the indigenous Yoruba of Ajase so they welcomed them.

I made reference to the above because you alluded to the Oyo and Ogu relationship in the Badagry axis. The Aworis and Ogus are indigenes of Badagry LGA which is distinct from Badagry town though.

I'll check up the Viola Davis and John Boyega movie recommendation below too.
"THE WOMAN KING – Official Trailer (HD)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RDaPV_rJ1Y

Thanks again for the deep insights.

P.S. @Creeper... Here's the documentary video of Tunde Kelani's visit to the Yoruba city of Ajase Ile [Porto Novo] in Benin Republic. The Oba of Ajase was interviewed and he indicated that their ancestors migrated originally from Iseyin in Oyo State to establish Ajase Ile.

This is pretty interesting and thanks for the reply.

Let me start with “The Woman King” movie. It’s a good watch. The architecture, costumes and representation of Oyo’s imperial cavalry were on point. The only thing I’m not too sure about was the costume worn by the Oyo military because it’s a mesh between the dressing of the Sahel and Yoruba (they had turbans on their heads). Then again, the nucleus of Oyo empire (the seat of power) was mostly in modern day Kwara state (not Oyo state) and Baribas were an integral part of the empire. Also, Oyo’s military had some Nupes, Hausas and Fulanis in its ranks coupled with the fact that Alaafin Shango was half-Nupe. So, it might be historically accurate.

I’ll like to know how the Ajase (who’re Yorubas from Oyo) got their name because the Ogus/Eguns are Aja (Aja-gbe) people from Whydah and they’re somewhat related to the Fon, Ewe and Ga-adangbe. Yes, Yorubas were the original inhabitants of Port Novo. The Aja’s (who’re Ogus/Eguns in Badagry and Gun in Port Novo) migrated from Whydah to Port Novo and Badagry at around the same time.

Also, according to European explorers, from like the 15th/16th century - Aja people and all other non-Yoruba groups from the borders of Yorubaland, all the way to Atakpame in Togo, spoke what’s known as Yoruba today (olukunmi in history books) as their royal and bourgeoisie language while their own languages were secondary (somewhat similar to how Nigerians speak the English language today). So, they have been basically Yorubanised for over 500years. I guess they’re also Yorubas by default, lol.

It makes sense that Ajase people are Oyo. I think it’s somewhat the same for all Yoruba settlements all over West Africa (outside Nigeria) - apart from Popo, Sabe and Ketu who were directly from Ife.

I’ll watch the documentary later today. Thanks a lot, bro.

Our challenges and our difference are that we have several nations with regions or geo - political zones and we still have state of origin and not state of residence.

State of residence we make us blend freely without any barrier otherwise our distinct identities are still pronounced.

Also the whites came to United States, dislodged and dominated the land all over , so the issues of regions growing and maintaining their distinct identities became eroded.

So there is no question of this is my region and that's is your region.
No region or state can be called a state for white, black , Asians, Latinos, red Indians (with their varieties) e.t.c
The tribes , races are all distributed across the states.

But such is different in Nigeria, we still have distinct nations and their respective regions and they are cautious of this.

Even in America , the American Indian (the indigenes) are given some privileges.

But the question of tribalism and regional politics would have been more pronounced in America if whites had not come and dominated across board.

The different regions with their respective varieties of Red Indians would have become pronounced without European dominating and dislodging all.

So no Florida man can bar a Californian man from owing a land on what basis? Since there are no distinct ethnic groups to this states that can't be found elsewhere and white men , settlers are now the dominant ones everywhere, so regional politics as we have it here can happen on the basis of tribe.

Yes America belongs to them as long as they're US citizens. That's why its a first world country. We don't think like you please.
You can now say today that American belongs to this white Invaders/strangers because they were able to take another man's land after overcoming series of war of resistance and can now make laws that will favour all strangers since they are strangers themselves.
Even if you travel to United States today and give birth there your son can become president while you can only become governor.
So there policies will favour all incomers , since they are incomers /strangers themselves.
Even though there are still laws in preference of aborigines ( after so many fights for it).
This is what the indegenes are against.
Some people like to claim ownership after accommodating them examples are Fulani in Ilorin.

You are a silly being, an unwavering idiot , who are just being egoistic in Ignorance.
How can you move against fact.
Opinion is different from fact .
Opinions may differ but fact is sacrosanct.
Example , you must be foolish to say the current president of Nigeria is not Bola Tinubu.
And equally foolish to say Alex Otti is not the governor of Abia state.
Because the above are facts.
But however anyone can have an opinion e g marrying a white lady is better than black lady vice versa.
So it's absolutely false , to say native Americans. American Indians , Red Indians
are not terms used for the aborigines.
Which stupid lie are you telling? even if you find yourself in America today, you can aspire to become a governor and any child you give birth to over there can become president that's the law, does that make your children native Americans.
Native Americans are the red Indians and not this senseless and baselees lies you are formulating, just to propagate false argument, what's the ego in agree to facts.

Which yeye story is hidden, what have they done to red Indians that have not been done to blacks.
Is it killing them and what not....you can even formulate an ugly imaginary stories to create a gory situation , the fact is that all these cruelty are not new, white supremacists did all these to other race/tribes. That was primitive era not now.
There were periods blacks and other minorities could not vote, let alone one of them becoming the president (Obama).
Evolution in laws and society overtime has been achieved.
You can choose to be picking all the negatives story in the dark ages and ignore or be blind to the later modern and humane development, it's your bias.
Even your fore fathers in your part of the country also had their cruel moment in the past/primitive era.
If you say life the way it was is now the way it is, and nothing has changed, you are just being clever by half.
Infact the red Indians still had their moment in killings the white settlers too by removing their scalps in demonstration of victory.
So it was a battle and ugly scenario, but things have changed from what it used to be.
There a whole lot of laws for the recognition and protection of aborigines, do your reading.

Is not Yoruba people,is Lagos people,
Imo state indigenes cant go and take over Abia state or Anambra state.
Other Yoruba states should take note,Lagos state has indigenes and should be allowed to rule there states, not Yoruba people taking over other people state.
Why is it your business? If two tribes men want to reason with themselves..

It is no man's land and that's why Tinubu and Sanwo olu can become governors of the state!
Is a Yoruba land not a no man's land, the reason Yoruba there are lenient with themselves, it's rude for Intruders/outsiders to break in , wetin concern agbero with overload , ? you can only ask for considerations respectfully.

Yes that’s correct grin

I’m glad you are now finally starting to reason with sense

You can make laws for immigrants, permanent resident holders, naturalised citizens, and indigenes yes you are very correct on that and there is nothing dumb about that.

The reason why you don’t see that in the US however is because they killed off the indigenes. Even the so called native Americans are not indigenes, America doesn’t make laws favourable to the indigenes because they are not indigenes. So America focuses on residents.

Nigeria is totally and completely different from America in that regard. In Nigeria state of origin will always matter because of this fact.
I agree with some of your points in that whites/European are strangers themselves and so they'll favour policy that will be in favour of strangers/Invaders/non indegenes.
No state of origin but state of residence, even though there are laws for protection of the aborigines/indegenes..
But native Americans are also referred to as American Indians ,red Indians, Indians e.t.c and they are the indegenes, go and read your book and stop passing wrong information.

Meanwhile please turn your attention to those who sees nothing in Lagos but yet migrate there everyday. Thank you sir.

"make it a law, it will run contrary of the constitution bla, bla, bla...if something is practised now and federal government has not moved against anybody, you are saying state can't make their laws.

it's not all you do in your State Benue than you can do in Kano or Zamfara state, then you will cry to the Federal Government thay they don't allow you to eat publicly during fasting, take beer , sell this or that because it's in the constitution that you can do whatever you want to do in any part of the country as long as you are a Nigerian ok ;

And I don't care if you are Igbo or from Benue (although there are indigenous Igbo in Benue), all I care for is the issue on ground and not about being Yoruba or not.
you must be high on tinubu colos! Indigenous ibos in Benue as how and when? Fuk off niga! I ain't gat ur low life time!

Law wey no go carry water. You can't sell your land to someone else and still want to claim ownership. Hope the court will do the needful when you try any rubbish. What am seeing is people that want to shoot their own selves, this will make other states to target your own people.
you are about to learn a harsh lesson. Land cannot be carried home. Ask the jews

Yorubas tolerate a lot, go Kano go tell them say na no man's land I promise you, you will not see tomorrow . That answers your comment as to why it is only in Yoruba land.
We tolerate too much, una don see us finish.
You're as vile as the Northerners if not even more , just as witnessed in the last election . You need psychiatric attention. You can only lie to your ignorant self , I'm glad vast majority of lagosians are aware of APC evil schemes reason they didn't vote for them . You're not the only one with the ability to source information. People are already aware of your evil agenda. I heard of plans to by Lagos State assembly to make indigenous law and I was really happy about that. Because it seems those claiming to be more lagosian are not actually from Lagos State. Just like lateef jakande said that Lagos is no man's land (land of opportunities for all ) this actually given opportunity to Yorubas from other southwestern states to come to Lagos and establish them selves and even govern the state. It's on record that the no true lagosian has ever govern the state since the 4th republic, Even the present governor is an immigrant from ijebu. So what exactly is your point ? Am sure no logical reasoning behind it ,it's just hate and polictics of bitterness. I urge you and your people to chase away other ethnic nationalities from Lagos and watch it go the way of warri. You people should be thankful to people paying huge revenue to your state instead you want to use your primitiveness to chase away people doing their legit business.

Lol inferiority complex indeed! Yoruba man feel inferior 😂😂😂😂 bros you dey make me laugh who una be? Yorubas have attained so many heights before you people ever think of getting there. Thanks a lot sha for your long comment but it seems to me that you weren't in Nigeria during this past elections if not you will understand that it goes beyond what you are saying.
Thank God for people like you that understood what Jankande meant, most people don't especially Igbos.
Furthermore the last part of your comment is full of gibberish. Tell me any Igbo man that Yoruba man wants to take his land, most of the lands are even sold with legal documents so how easy will that be? You just sounded like the other dude who has limited knowledge. Why are Yorubas not having the same problem with other tribes or are those tribes not buying land and doing business in Lagos? Na only una Igbos!
Mind you I have no hatred for any tribe,my wife is Igbo my kids answer Igbo names but that doesn't mean I will allow some group of people to step our toes. I am not a member or supporter of APC as a party so na u sabi wetin you dey talk. Anybody that speaks out about Igbo is APC! That is not new I don hear am taya.
Like say una dey even sell una own land for person! Very vile tribe! When they hate anybody or a group of people they hate them to the core.
I have asked you people before to go to any south Eastern state and price a land if it's not sold to you because you're a Yoruba man please put it up here with evidence. why won't I sell my land to someone that wants to build a factory that will inturn employ people from my community and reduce unemployment? You people lie a lot and I don't know the reason for it . If conduct a genealogical test on you I'm sure you're not from Lagos State. Most people constituting nuisances in Lagos State all in the name of being Yoruba are not from Lagos State. Name any of your past governor from 1999 has Lagos genealogical trace. Not even Tinubu not even this one you have presently. Look at how the true lagosians are languishing at makoko, I have never seen any of you lend their voice or advocating for better life for people from those areas . It's only petty tribalism , no true value it's just your own selfish interest.
