Yes. Let's be self-sufficient first before acting like a big brother. |

It's even funny that those countries owe Nigeria for energy supplied to them! |

South Africa has severe power cuts right now....so bad that it was the subject of an extensive BBC report....and still sells power to several countries in Central Africa...from the DR Congo to Zimbabwe. Because it needs the cash... Also, our power problems are happening because the sector is not fully deregulated. As a result, no investment flows in to pay for things like improvements in generation and transmission. |

SmartPolician:Let me help your limited, embarassing knowledge. Electricity to neighbouring countries is not subsidised, unlike petrol. Electricity distribution companies charge market rates,if not even more,to supply electricity to them,so goverment does not even have the incentive to play father Christmas. Every tom, dick and Harry wakes up and just opens a thread without doing simple intellectual exercise to decide if the thread makes sense. |

seborrhic: Bola Tinubu should cut off those Nigerian neighbours because Nigeria doesn't have enough power to go round. That's what this discussion is about. Their governments should supply them power; we cannot afford to shoulder their governments' responsibilities. In economics, you supply what you have comparative advantage over, not what you are struggling to generate. The most annoying part is that those countries are even owing Nigeria a lot of money in power supply, suggesting that Nigeria is playing the role of a Santa Claus in the WA subregion. You no get sense, go sleep... 2 Likes |

SmartPolician:He cannot! Because we have an agreement to supply them some electricity in return for not damming the River Niger. If Benin, Niger and/or Mali should dam the river Niger, there would be no electricity to sell at Kainji. 1 Like 1 Share |

wirinet: If that be the case, they should stop owing and pay up. They are already breaching the agreement. |
