He said there was was too much money in circulation and he wanted to absorb most back into the banks (which is a good thing because its improves the economy). And he sent banks a quarter of what they usually received weekly (source: my bank manager). The problem was that it was sabotaged, When the new naira was announced initially it was available, i even got 300k of it once from first bank directly.
It was when the election drew close that everything disappeared and went scarce for reasons we all know.

Well the only thing i would say was a crime was what he allegedly did recently (which i know was a setup so they could suspend him) was when he devalued the Naira. That is a treasonable offence but knowing Nigeria, it was a setup

I totally understand your point, but he meant well for Nigeria. From an economically stand point, what he did is how other countries operate, the problem was that Nigeria is so backward that the policy couldn't work the way intended because we have this idea deeply rooted in us that if we don't have paper(cash) in hand, we don't have money.

And our banking sectors aren't helping, you remember how often he kept directing banks to pay out the new cash and most still refused and kept hording.

The cashless policy was a brilliant idea to mop up the overly circulated cash in the economy to try and stabilize what's left of our Naira decline, problem is that there wasn't enough planning put into the thought, like the banking network, vat, swipe cards and machines available to all merchants etc.
I have stayed in Europe for a while, and one thing i noticed was that before you can become a merchant you must get payment processing machine, and you can live without ever having cash in hand for a whole year, why? because measures are already in place to make payments easy.

So he had the right idea, but the wrong execution timeframe.

And thanks for clearing up the Naira devaluing rumor, it was hard to believe anyone in his right mind would do that.

To be honest, for years I've been a fan of yours cos I mistakenly felt you had a very developed thinking faculty but recently, your post politically disappoints me... And it's really surprising to me how a supposed matured real nigga can have too much hatred in him for a fellow man who is a Politician and a great one at that...
