The answer to that question is simple.

They use it in trade because the US dollar is a stable currency.
Can't Africa stabilize theirs?

If all of Africa are using one currency, then they won't need the dollar for internal trade just like Europe does not but how much internal trade does Africa have?. Almost negligible!. For external trade, they would still need dollars because no other currency would suffice. If China were collecting income tax heavily like say the Japanese and have very low inflation, then their currency will be very attractive because the volume is large. The best currency that stores value best may be Norway's but the volume in circulation is negligible. What applies to China applies to India. The only real challenge to the dollar is the Euro as the economy is also large and inflation low. However you have to choose only one forex unit as using multiple currencies will be a headache. Ask a nearby importer. Even the Chinese will choose the dollar not to talk of Indiana because it makes trade easy for them. The US does not need the advantage to be rich. Japan, Norway, Germany etc don't have any such advantage and they are as rich if not richer. Infact many people in the US complain that inflation in the US would not have been so high if not that they are printing dollars to satisfy international markets. They complain that liquid assets of portfolio investors in the USA depreciate faster because of dollar inflation and US citizens have no other issued currency. Even if Africa has one currency, the Chinese will not likely collect that currency from them. They will demand for dollars. I think eventually the US themselves will do something about the unfortunate situation in which they have found themselves but for now there is practically no option for importers and exporters and importing and exporting is a private affair of importers and exporters. Not that of government.

you think America considers any african nation as a threat in any way?

Africans are slaves to the west, and likely to remain so for centuries to come
While africa might not have top grade millitary wapons in its arsenal and the financial capabilities as compared to the west, manpower is a very important aspect that the continent definitely have in abondance which either of the world powers can utilize to their advantage should there be an alliance.

Sit- tight dictators or not, Africa sha must be liberated! May be you need to remind yourself the reason they are still in power is because they still do the bidding of Uncle Sam. Watch what would happen to them now that they are clamoring for the overthrow of the dollar. And take note, he said he is not against the US dollar but we, as Africans, shouldn’t be looking for dollar to settle trade with ourselves

DeepSight:

I hear you, but it should be noted that Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has been in power since 1986 - 37 years. Paul Kagame has been in power since 2000 - 23 years.

I hope that says enough to you about the real nature of these men.
Sit-tight dictators, they are life presidents - and that is the height of corruption and abuse of power.

Totally wrong, the dollar supremacy gives the US undue advantage to borrow money beyond its limit and it enables the US to sanction any country.

As an individual, if you have assets or even an idea, you will be able to get loans. Dangote borrowed all the monies he used to build his refineries with no collateral. As a nation, if you have revenue, you will be able to borrow money against that revenue and that is why all nations are steeped in debt proportional to their revenue. Can you explain to me the advantage the US is using?. No institution is watched more closely by governments across the world than the US Federal reserve that controls dollar inflation and so far, the Chinese, Indians and etc are satisfied.

These are leaders that will work with Peter Obi when justice is done to reclaim the glory of Africa. Imagine what the combination of Peter Obi of Nigeria, Paul Kegame of Rwanda, William Ruto of Kenya and Museveni of Uganda will look like for Africa at the world Stage. Africa will be cherished because these four are men of wisdom and they will combine and challenge the terrible domineering attitude and policies of the West. Africa is waiting for Nigeria to get the right leadership and take the lead but Nigeria is still no where to be found.
Jesus Christ, look at the mental wiring of a human being. Ruto, Museveni, Kagame (lol).

We are currently in a world order built in America's image. Before you speak of dumping the dollar, you will show the US how many nuclear warheads you have! Or perhaps you have aligned with China and Russia.
Gaddafi made himself an easy target. There is time and cycles for everything under the sun.

Consequences.

Gadaffi talks too much. Things like dumping the USD are mostly done in extreme secrecy, and also, your military should be topnotch. Take China for example, it was only when they established peace between Iran and Saudi the world heard about it.

Only China and Russia can take actions that go against the interest of the west because their military is capable of facing the US one on one. Politics is nothing but strength vs strength. If you are weak, you will be the sacrificial lamb.

You don't go about announcing your intention and not expect the target enemy not to strike, especially when you exist in their world order. Gadaffi was the scapegoat that made other leaders kept shut.

But now is different. Ruto is just one of many leaders saying it. The time has come for the globe to move off, and the Americans can't do anything about it. Also, the global powers and economics have shifted, and are moving east.

In other words, the world now has an alternative, so US sanctions cant bite as it does before. It's like when a hyena bites an injured, malnourished tiger because they can see that it is not as powerful as before, and don't fear it.
