GO0DHardDick:You called the President a fool. Why are you guys so useless? Your lack of moral upbringing is what led you to kill Tafawa Balewa, and it is why you will never rule this country! You will remain observers till thy kingdom come. Let all the whole South East region study law, you will remain the way you are. It is your father's father and ancestors that are fools. Bloody nonsense! Slaves don't rule! |

CodeTemplar:1.You haven't heard about Dutch disease. Okay , Nigeria is a dutch diseased nation (which is why I say that all governments in Nigeria past and present are useless). When oil prices are high, we borrow less, when oil prices are low, we borrow more, and when oil prices rise again, we have to pay back our debts incurred when oil prices were low. For instance, if there is a decline in oil prices and oil revenue, the lagging and collapsing non-oil export sector will not be able to compensate for the drop in oil revenue while domestic demand for the non-traded goods and imports remain sticky. Consequently, the country will be forced to borrow from the international financial market to compensate for the decline in oil revenue. Over time, external debts will increase and so will the debt service obligations. Even when oil prices go up later and there is another round of oil windfall, it is difficult to correct the earlier damage or distortions created by the initial or previous oil windfall. In some cases, the oil exporting country may be forced to adopt some form of structural adjustment program (SAP) to correct such distortions or imbalances. Some of these SAPs are painful and may increase the prevalence, depth and severity of povertyThe above is from an article published in 2004. That's why I laff when I hear Buhari and co say, when he was in power, that we were borrowing for productive measures. Once you get into debt in low oil periods...as seen in 1982-2007, and 2012-2021, and high oil..as seen in 1973-82, and 2021-22, the above is what happens. At least Obi was talking a lot about being productive. Too bad he didn't get elected. 2. Religion has nothing to do with it. |

Peacecore:Is google your enemy? If Google is the solution, then you shouldn't find it difficult consulting google. 1. How much fuel does nigeria consume and how much is diverted to other countries that has caused scarcity? 2. How many instances of fuel scarcity in Nigeria were primarily caused by smuggling to neighboring countries? 3. If you say that "immigration agencies" allow smugglers to allow fuel products across the border, how then is fuel Subsidy now the culprit? 4. Is fuel Subsidy responsible for manning nigerias borders or "immigration agencies"? |

GO0DHardDick:I initially mistook obedience as intelligent people, its just after your electoral loss that I realised most of you are just plain dumb Start by telling me the number of megawatts Nigeria supply Ghana... How did nigeria supply Ghana with electricity when you don't even have enough to go around? Come on don't make it too obvious you are a fool! |

Swanzi:Am not aware of any arrangement between Ghana and nigeria in terms of electricity, but nigeria supplies electricity to Benin, Niger and Togo. It has nothing to do with whether there's no electricity to go round

TemplarLandry:Rather it's the shame of the country Nigeria that spend billions paying customs, immigration and security people and still their boarders are left for their wealth to be fritted away by few criminals in power. So the poor citizens are punished for the incompetence of their rulers they pay so much but don't do anything for the interest of the people. |

them shouldn't have to worry anymore dangote will soon supply fuel for them . it's time to fight for our right and stop fuel sellers from selling above government price and transporters from charging above fixed price to balance ⚖️ the equation. it's not right to allowed or waited for government to do everything for you . it's your right as a Nigerian to say something about wrong deed anytime, anywhere. |

ivandragon:Your reasoning is below average, sorry I don't mean insult. As of May, 06, official fuel price in Benin was 650.00CFA(legally imported ones) while black markets(those ones from smugglers) sell at 450.00CFA. This made locals to patronize them better than the feeling stations. After fuel removal, as of 12th June, it rose to as high as 800.00CFA while the official pump price stood at between 650_700CFA. 1. Now, tell me, as it stands now, which will you go for if you're in Benin? 2. Ask yourself, what made smuggled fuel cheaper than the official ones when there was subsidy and then skyrocketed to almost twice when it's removed in Nigeria? You and I know that anything black market is always costlier than the official ones but the reverse is the case here. This is to show the level of parasitism going on to our own detriment. Try to do research before coming online to disgrace yourself claiming Economist ![]() |

lexy2014:How does number of immigration agencies a yardstick to smuggling where even the most powerful country, US which spent more than our whole budget on security alone still have issue of smuggling of drugs and migration across their land border especially through Mexico. You people should start thinking and stop asking everything, it doesn't make sense at al ![]() |

Peacecore:Are the questions too difficult for you to answer? |

Peacecore:Lol. You have been throwing insults from your first comment to me, why stop now. I know you are a blockhead & skilled at skewing issues. First, my initial comment was about how government uses its failure to justify increase in fuel prices. https://punchng.com/fg-blames-smugglers-for-fuel-scarcity/ The point is, the FG shifted the financial problem to Nigerians rather than doing its sworn duty of defending its territory from external sabotage. You have conveniently excused the government on that responsibility. Secondly, I clearly stated that in time, 'normal service' will resume. This is not the first time government has used the excuse of cross border smuggling to justify imposing hardship on Nigerians. So what makes you think it will be different? https://saharareporters.com/2018/04/18/falana-seeks-explanation-fuel-subsidy-increase-n261-billion-n14-trillion You people argue prices will come down due to competition, so what happens when the so called expected competition kicks in? The smuggling resumes. In other words, government is purposefully making Nigerians pay higher than needed to discourage smuggling... I know somewhere in your elementary economic mind, you will justify government's insensitivity & ineptitude. |

ivandragon:If you check my comment, you'll found out that I SD tay edit that the policy will pose hardship on the citizens but it has to be embarked on. What govt needs to do is to provide succor to the citizens. |
