Help! My Car Gets Overheating Faster When I Drive with AC On.

The name of the car is Toyota Camry 2003.

I have fixed the head gasket, Airflow system, serviced with fresh oil, and flushed the Radiator but still didn’t work but improves the condition a little.

Right now, the car drives well for a short distance and get overheated after a short period of driving with AC On.

I also observed today that 1 out of the 2 fans is not spinning very well infact air from one for the fans is not felt compare to its counterpart.

I have tried to explain all my observation so that I can get help from experienced users.

I have also used coolant but still didn’t work.

How do I know the culprits now ? The water pump, Radiator, or could it be that only one fan works instead of the 2.

Kindly note only one fan works very well and the second fan is not spinning well.

Thanks for your contributions.

Does the other fan engage after putting on the AC?

Sadly 80% of cars in Nigeria overheat. The only way out for them is bypassing the thermostat and connecting the fan directly.

80% of cars in Nigeria fan comes on once you start the engine. Most mechanic don’t know how to solved overheating other then remove thermostat and connect fan directly.

You only option is to connect the fan directly. If it still overheat. You might need to change the fan.

I was in your situation few months ago, with the same car.
First, if your thermostat is yet to be removed by Kazeem, examine the thermostat if it's still functioning properly. Faulty thermostat results to engine overheating.
Second, is your radiator a single cell? If yes, changing it to double cell radiator is also a good measure of solving overheating.

I use the same car. I have experienced exactly the same. Please change your fan tomorrow if you have money or let them check the solenoid in the fan if you don't have enough money. Change of solenoid is 1k, pay 1k or 1k5 for workmanship. A new Belgium fan is about 7k. I just changed my solenoid, I didn't see the point getting a new fan. The mechanic opened up the fan solenoid and I saw it was bad. If you constantly go on a road with terrible vibrations, your fan(s) will most likely pack up. I have experienced it twice.

One of naija's easiest fix.

But what do you mean by overheating?
Does the temperature guage goes above the middle line?

You electrician should check the fuses and relay. Inspect the fan too incase it's weak. Don't use the now so you don't damage you condenser and AC system

Nah, they just don't want to put the effort to trace the reason for d over heating, after all, it takes less than 5 minutes to do a direct fan connection to hide d problem temporary as opposed to spending about an hour to find & solve d issue permanently

Exactly my thinking. The direct fan connection is making the car noisy when you start the car
