Seems like riders are running away from using bolt these days cos of their fares, Nigerians too like free things, most people don port to Indrive and Rida, na wa
Indrive is more expensive than bolt, funny enough. What people are running away from is instability of price. Dynamic pricing is no longer fashionable. No one likes to be surprised with a price they never expected.

Bolt died last year. I kept pointing it out. Only stubborn drivers, like the stubborn fly, will follow bolt to the grave. Dem don kuku arrange sports competition for them.... Make Dem dey play.

Always remember to read this if you're new to this hustle.

Have a plan B always too

Love you all tongue

Ghost1994:
Raining season is here again. I’ll share my little experience.

1. Avoid alpha beach road patapata during heavy rain

2. Don’t ever try to enter down orchid road no.

3. Try as much as possible to let your pointers, wipers and your dim light working perfectly before jetting out.

4. Avoid places you don’t really know their flood level.

5. During the heavy rain, find somewhere safe to park if you’ve not gotten a trip yet park your car, relax for about 25-40 minutes after the rain Lagos gutters would’ve been cleared a bit to proceed for hustle.

6. Community road Akoka is a death trap. Keep that at the back of your map.

7. It’s a season to make money but then you have to apply wisdom because rider that’s paying x2 of the money would want you to satisfy them by dropping them at their doorstep. But if by the way(s) you suspect the area is prone to flood, sharply end the trip at the beginning of the street offer a rider 100-200naira for his/her bike/keke fare.

8. Try as much as possible to work within the Circe/areas you know too well.

9. Don’t do 80-100klm during heavy. Abeg if you don’t love yourself we do. Why? Brake doesn’t work well when it’s rainy just a simple logic.

10. Off your car ac when you sight heavy flood in a street or on any road. Why? Because most of our cars are above 10yrs ago and there are some components in which water must not get into on your compressor it’ll damage your compressor quickly.

11. Work smart. Yes work smart— don’t work late start early close early. Because you can’t know all the whole roads in Lagos no matter how many decades you’ve been driving on Lagos road. Working late sometimes is a death trap to damage your vehicle because so many bad potholes you might not be able to see are trap to damage your shocks, tyre etc.

12. If you miss your turn, maybe you didn’t calculate well or map malfunctioning, don’t ever bother to reverse never ever think of that. No matter how much rider pressurize you just be calm and let him or her know you’ll remove some money out of his/her bills for compensation. 200-500 naira is Better to let go than loosing your car to accident or road lions (Lastma/Taskforce)

13. Never drag road with trailer or tankers. Those people doesn’t see on a normal day not to talk of rainy days. Be wise don’t let rider sweet talk you to be saying they’re late blablabla you’re not the cause of their lateness.

I’ll share my own work ethics

- I work basically on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it’s a rushing day.

- I take Thursday off to relax and focus on my course

- Friday yes and Saturday I start working around 2pm why? Well I feel like that’s when the people started rushing out.

- I work on Sunday but I avoid island ajah,Lekki and the rest once it’s 1pm why? When you notice your app you’ll see it’ll all white once is getting to 2pm because riders don Dey house but on like mainland there are many churches. It’s a wisdom.

- routes I avoid on week days are:- 1. Egbeda, Ikeja in the morning is dead, ikotun igando, ekoro road, command road, Iyana ipaja, aboru, lasu, okoko, festac, mile 2, oshodi, Ikorodu never, sangotedo hell no, I can only drop a worthy trip at the airport and jet out immediately I avoid siting and waiting for unrealistic trips in airport unless I’m lucky if I’m driving out and I get a trip.

After Opic Berger I always avoid any trip going after Berger.

How do I cancel? Bolt shows me where I’m going so whenever I’m sure the area is part of my listed dead zone, I click on arrived, passenger phone is not working or passenger ask me to cancel. It’s work like magic on iPhone but not with androids. It’s help me avoiding any conversations with rider.

Note:- I accept every trips coming to my phone no matter how dead it is but I cancel once I feel is not safe for me and my car.

I try as much as possible to select the trip(s) above 1500. How will you know a trip coming to your phone is more than 1500? Any trip be it surge or no surge above 8klm is practically more than 1,500. Note I don’t care how much you collect because of bonus but all I know is that the money is above 1500.

I don’t rush myself any day anytime my target as a car owner per day is 5k for savings 3k to start hustle next day and 2k for feeding/dropping at home.

Why 5k? It’s my logic and it’s been helping save maturely. I used to make x3-4 of my savings sometimes but then it’s just my saving culture I’ll still save all have made. I’ll just called it discipline.

How did you manage cash savings? I store my cash savings somewhere in my living room where I don’t tell anyone and on Thursday Whenever I dropped my son in school, I head straight to bank and deposit to account I don’t have atm or internet banking.

How did you manage your car(s) to serve you well? I avoid most Lagos mechanics 90%. Whatsoever happened to my car like for example let’s say shocks is bad, I will drive my car to market park and pay 5hundred naira I’ll go and get my new shocks, I know how much is leakage, shocks, brake pads, thyroids, fluid, bulbs etc. all I need is to change I don’t manage.

What can make a car to last in these hustle? Cars are like human being, you have to maintain them. I Do a daily routine before I jet out in the morning because I’ll be off sometimes on 9-12 hours on wheel. I check everything I needed to check before jetting out.

I make sure I avoid anything bad route. I don’t carry loads that doesn’t fit in my car trunk. My car is design to carry 4 and yes mini 4 not heavy make ups madams going to party and try to squeeze themselves in my mini sedan no! I don’t carry them I don’t want wahala.

Also, anyday mechanic is fixing one thing or two in my car, I always make sure we do it together. I don’t supervise but we handle it together because mechanic are humans too they might forget to tighten 1 bolt which I’m not perfect either but 2-4 heads is better than 1.

How do you manage a rider whose street is bad and you consider picking him/her? Well the logic i used is straightforward. Many of dead streets have alternative like bike and keke. I’ll put a call through:-

Me: Sir/ma good morning this is the Uber ride you ordered
Rider: Good morning I’ll be expecting you.
M: sir/ma I’m sorry getting to the street now, my car has hit the ground severally it’s a low Corolla/Honda please I don’t mind since you don’t have load I’ll pay for your bike or marwa.

Reasonable rider who value life and property will agreed and even said don’t worry just give me few mins. But i manage if it’s elderly person or rider mentions she’s pregnant I’ll go BUT if rider acting somehow I won’t go.

How can someone makes more saving in this hustle?
1st is Gods grace, 2 is your car is your tools once she doesn’t give you any problem(s) you’ll make savings.

Advice to newbie:- never allow rider to sweet talk you to drop him or her at unreasonable location. Avoid airport just drop off only. Never follow one way or brt lane even if you’re carrying buhari daughter, don’t try to reverse on the highway if you miss your way yes rider will shout but keep calm, make sure you confirm your credit alert before allowing rider off in your car, if you don’t have change offer to transfer airtime as their balance some will say yes and some will tell you to keep the change but remember it’s their money, use rider app to calculate the estimated price of the route you’re heading-it’ll help you determine if the route worth it coupled with the traffic, never fight physically with your rider some are walking ghosts, pay your commission once it’s getting above threshold, read signs, ask riders questions if the map is malfunctioning, join Facebook/WhatsApp/telegram groups to learn more about people’s day to day experiences. Last but first pray to God and follow your instincts.

PLAN FOR FUTURE AND REMEMBER THE HUSTLE SHOULDNT BE FOR A VERY LONG TIME ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B.

Bye for now

God will continue to help us all

I have a neat 2009 Honda civic parked idle because of the high fuel price. I now use bus to work as it is cheaper for me.
I wish I can get a trustworthy driver to give it out on a rental basis.

My last experience with giving my previous car to a driver was horrible. I dey fear to repeat the same mistake 😭.

For my car maintenance especially daily routine before I jet out in the morning:-

I know many people attended lasdri training and I find that training very useful.

First thing I do check before starting my car early in the morning is

1. Belt yes the belt and why? Because even the so called tokumbo sometimes can fail you on the road anything can happen I don’t trust belt we do buy so due to experience I make sure I checked around the belt. If I notice any wornout, I might probably change it and also I make sure to have extra belt.

2. If you’re using Corola I mean regular 03-07 I make sure I check oil seal if it’s leaking. Because many corollas out there Dey short oil especially if you’re using it for this hustle. To change Corolla oil seal is just 1-3k depend on the mechanic and where you buy parts. But for Honda Civic 06-09 I make sure I checked under the bottom if there’s no leakage Lagos roads is sometimes bad and you might not have an idea if you’ve hit a terrible stone that’ll make your engine or gear oil to be leaking.

3. For corollas yes I kept on insisting on corollas because na them plenty pass and I’ve got one here. Make sure you check your oil stick level. Corolla Dey short oil even Ladipo self most of them na engines wey dem buy from owode majority go reboil and resale. Even if you carry Imam or Pastor go Ladipo you’ might still fall victim talking from experience tokumbo of corollas engine no too sure for Ladipo again.

But for Honda Civic I love this particular car engine cos I’ve got one too and other brands check your oil level if it’s short top it with the recommended oil brand by checking the oil cover you’ll know which one is recommended for your car.

4. I check the coolant level if it’s short I top it. Because sometimes our weather is unpredictable.

5. I use to make use of my wiper fluid while driving and I’ll just top it too.

6. Check your four tyre round and see if it’s less and also your extra tyre if it’s less remember to fill it.
For tyres you can check Aliexpress.com, alibaba.com or Jumia check for tyre accessories you’ll get tyre gauge it’s cost less down 2k on Aliexpress it’s good you’ll know the level of your tyre gauge easily.

So basically for me, these are few things I make sure I check before leaving home for hustle in the morning.

Some general experiences for newbies that love hustling at night:-

1. Make sure around 8-9pm you fill your tank with 4-5k of fuel. It’s very important because the only place you’ll be able to get fuel around island is enyo filling station ikate and mainland is ojota by odo iyalaro.

2. Make sure you have change like 200 100* 5 to sort police should in case you fall victim of any documents whatsoever.

3. Never argue or no your rights at night whenever armed policemen stop you for night.

4. Never ever for any reason collect a package delivery for night. It’s dangerous and set up. Many drivers are currently in jail for this act. My experiences was bad with things like this:-

Have got a request around one estate along kusenla road he called me with cool voice and go on like this below:-

Rider: mr. Saintrow good evening sir how’s your day going and work sir.
Me: fine sir in my mind I have doubt on him
R: sir I’ll be waiting for you at the gate
Me: ok I zoom got to pickup
R: waiting already at the entrance with a Package—— sir this is what’s going sir
Me: please what’s inside the package and can I open it I mean tear it and video it with you?
R: why will you do that sir anyways I understand it’s for your safety but na popcorn Dey there sir.
Me: guy stop fooling me how can you transport popcorn worth less down 500naira to Ikoyi with 1.5surge nawao na drug Dey there alaye.
R: bros calm now I go pay now.
Me: guy my nickname is ghost if you doesn’t stop this shit I’ve got you on camera I’ll report you to the authorities very useless idiot naso una Dey make jjc fall victims.
R: ran inside with sorry
That’s it imagine carrying popcorn 500 to delivered to girlfriend very useless idiots so be vigilante guys.

5. Never ever I repeat Never ever collect anything from passenger to hide from Police at anytime. It’s a trap you might land in jail.

6. Don’t ever listen to any rider whenever you sight law enforcement at night. Many of those riders that’ll shout run or take another route might have a dangerous weapon to kill you and collect your car. Make sure you face the police whatever happens is not in your control so far you don’t have anything don’t worry police no Dey disturb Uber.

7. Don’t ever accept offline at night it’s very dangerous cos if anything happen to your drunk rider maybe he/she die the only thing that’ll help you is your ongoing online trip.

8. Don’t and never have any goodies, chocolate, biscuit or whatsoever to offer riders I don’t follow bolt/Uber trainings on what they said we should have to entice riders for ratings. Guys America is different from Nigeria you don’t know what the rider has taken before entering your car he or she might’ve taken poison to assist the journey you com give am your chocolate na you police go hold oh.

9. If rider fail to pay you fully or none don’t fight physically cos you don’t know the kind of fate he or she has. it’s might be setups because most of them are walking dead i wrote this on my last article. You fit curse them but don’t fight physically

10. If your instinct tells you that rider(s) seems dangerous at night drop them it’s a sign from God.

11. Don’t carry 2-3 guys together at night. Haaa it’s scary experiences especially if they’re coming from clubs majority go don high and some might’ve good intentions for you but then naija is dangerous.

12. If you’re carrying a guy (huge guy) at night never allow him to sit at the back. He’s huge he fit make you sleep with just chemical or strangle you and please always watch your inner mirrors should in case you carry ladies too.

13. Should in case you’re tired and want to rest, never sleep on the Lekki Epe expressway. ESP on that folix lounge road that’s too risky for your life. Make sure you go Fola osibo, street opposite farm city Lekki one, freedom way by presken hotel is not bad too, but don’t sleep on major road and admiralty road too never sleep there.

14. If a rider begged you for cash never give them it’s a trap na fake transfer them wan do. Carry them go atm make them withdraw.

15. If a rider tells you that they don’t have cash to give you at night, and they can’t do transfer, but once they get home they’ll go inside and bring your money (this always happened early in the morning esp with runs babe wey dem no sell) tell them to drop their phone or anything valuable and go inside to bring your money. Never allow them to go no matter how they sweet chatted you.

16. Some places to sleep on the island:- Lekki 1, chevron by alternative road, Osapa London is not very bad too in front of those hotels, Dmatel hotel, kusenla road by that stadium, mega chicken, sky mall sangotedo many people will add join.

For Victoria island:- Eko hotel road, Oniru beach, many hotels around oniru is safe too, Cubana, quilox and many more.

Yaba: sabo only.
Surulere: bode Thomas
Ikeja: off Toyin, Allen, shoprite and many more from people comments below.

17. If a rider call you and tell you that you’ll pick something for him at mushin and bring it for him or her in ajah on sososo surge but you’ll give the sender money like 1-10k guy it’s old format. Na foam you Dey pick and on top of your fuel you’ll lose and cry.

Last but not the least

18. ALWAYS DUST YOUR CARPETS AND RUG AT NIGHT SOME RIDERS MIGHT'VE DROPPED TABLET OR DRUGS AND IF POLICE DO STOP AND SEARCH YOU DONT HAVE CAMERA TO PROOF YOUR INNOCENCE IS BAD.

Guys wey Dey copy my post I appreciate you but kindly Dey share your experience too make other Dey learn. Give credits too I’m saintrow on FB nairaland is Ghost1994.

I stop from here today
God will continue to guide and protect us.

I saw shege banza from the last fool I gave my previous car to.
He remitted nothing while I kept spending on top his stupid driving.
I dey fear like this ... But the car can't just be parked na.
If you think you're reliable, I will try you for one week. If I hear story, na army go settle us o. Nothing concern me and police.

You never even see the car to ascertain the state, you don dey accept terms online....

I know you want to get something doin.....but be careful of written affirmation, especially when what you are affirming to is unknown to you as at that time....
All the best.

Can I please and please get the car on HP? I've my down payment ready
If you have down payment, you can save enough to buy you a small car. Used In Nigeria Cars are cheap now. In whatever you do, do these 3 things:

1. Avoid HP
2. Avoid HP
3. Read 1. and 2. again
