Truly the economy is not smiling and commercial drivers are not smiling either. They mean business o.

So I wanted to go pick up something somewhere yesterday and didnt have the complete transport fare. Before subsidy removal, the same distance used to be N200 but it is now N450. I had only N300 with me and thought I could help beg a taxi driver to consider me. You won't believe once I flagged down a cab and say, please consider me, I'm going to so so place and I have only N300, the next thing you see is marching of throttle and voom, they zoom off. They don't even have time to listen to your plea, after all, no be them be Tinubu wey remove subsidy.

I stopped over 7 vehicles and none agreed to consider me for N300.

They prefer to even drive without a passenger than picking someone for a lesser fare.

Las las, I had to call the person that I will pick it up some other time.

I have also seen in several occasions people arguing and fighting over price differences. The commercial driver would argue this is his fare, the passenger would argue "oga na lie", leading to physical slug out. Funny.

Naija, i hail thee.

Never been used to hopping commercial cabs until now. If I'm not driving, I order my ride on the bolt platform. My difficulty right now isn't even with the increase in fares. It's rather the fact that I don't even know how to navigate taxis and which bus stops to use.

Moving from Lokogoma junction in Abuja to Next Cash and Carry at Jahi, I had to consistently ask the cab drivers where to stop to get the next taxi to the next bus stop. When I eventually got to Airport junction, taxi had two seats to be filled. Sun was scorching, I was tired and when the driver said a seat costs 200 naira to my last bus stop, I just paid for both, make we for comot from sun make small breeze touch person.

I don suffer for this Nigeria sha!

Tell me more about that. Is it going to increase the price?
Lol.

If there's an increase in import duties at the ports, where do you expect the importers to source the added amounts from?

Of course they'll hike the prices of goods and commodities so they can make enough to cover their expenses and still take home profits. Who no fit buy motor before, should just perish the thought now. Na to either buy bicycle or motorcycle now.

Calabar drivers be hurling insults and slams on passengers at the slightest. As for me I use transport halfway, and the point where my legs have to come in is halfway through too.

But you shouldn't blame the driver's the fuel they used to buy 195 is now 540 and you want them to joke with their fare. quote author=Fryzi post=124045928]The average nigerian is wicked. They take things like this as medium for cash out.[/quote]

Life is simple. If you have whatever ammount your driver ask, pay without argument. if you can't pay, then use your feet. If you can't trek stay at home and don't go anywhere. If you can't stay at home, go to farm. If you don't have a farm, sleep. If you can't sleep, die. If you can't die,go to a nearby shop and steal phone and some guys will help put you to death. Like i said before, life is simple.

passengers are yet to wakeup to reality! Price of fuel tripled, transport fare are suppose to be triple, now people are begging drivers to consider them but yet fueling point are even cheating on their meter. How do you want driver to survive! They zoom off not because they prefer to go empty but they are avoiding bad market who will occupy space for next bus stop

Re: Share Your Experience With Commercial Drivers Since The Removal Of Subsidy by Phoenix873:
I lived in Ifo area of ogun state very close to the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

So last week Saturday, I had an event to attend in Agbado area of Ogun state, so I would need to board a bus from Ifo to Ijaiye in Lagos from where I would take keke to Agbado.

Normally, bus fare from my bus stop in Ifo to Ijaiye was #500 to and fro making 1k per round trip.

With the removal of fuel subsidy and the attendant inflation, I had correctly assumed that the fare would have doubled. So I kept 2k for hand before embarking on the trip.

I was pleasantly shocked when the conductor of the bus that took me from Ifo to Ijaiye told me that my fee is #500. My mind quickly went to MC Oluomo whom we all know as Tinubu's boy and the transporters' Oga. I assume he must have directed his people not to increase their fares as a way of cushioning the painful harsh effects of the subsidy removal so as not to incure passengers' anger on his political godfather.

I was happy and decide to remove and keep aside #500 for the return trip which I erroneously assume will also be #500 😂. I spent the surplus on chopping 😁.

On the return trip, we were halfway through the journey when the bus conductor asks for my fare. I handed him the #500 on me and he looked at me with anger, saying my fare is #700 and I was like ehn how come 🤔?

Long story short, he asked me to get out of his bus after collecting #200 to cover the length of the trip I already made on his bus.

Had to trek a long distance before I could flag down a bus that agree to collect #300 to carry me to the rest of my destination.
