USDT or USDC that is floated ...have you seen it shoot right up the sky? The floating price we are experiencing now is as a result of speculative purchase etc when everyone is ok, the price would normalise.

Flets:

Devaluing is the option, floating is not. You can even devalue to 700 and peg it there...... you can't float with the level of balance of trade deficit we have. What do we export outside crude?, do you know the volume of empty containers that gets shipped out daily from Nigeria?

With this floating, there is no real value... the speculators and manipulators will have a field day. USD will exchange for 1500 and there is nothing anyone will do about until CBN takes charge again

That is good news hopefully to disuade speculators from attacking the naira.

These are the things the CBN should be on top of, the kind of news that should come from them to calm markets.
No, they are just sitting on their hands or typically busy crafting the latest scheme to record heists.

Governance is just too poor in this country.
We should be getting briefs from the CBN on a daily basis if truly they are in control, if truly they know what they are doing.

Are you sure you understood what you read up there? What he said was there is a transition period as the market adjusts and by year-end the naira will be at its true strength and will be further strengthened as petroleum reforms come into effect.

If unethical caution is not taken, these Americans would still devalue our naira and blame it on some economic factor.
But we're the cause of this one. If your home is tidied, flies won't come in. Our crude export has always given us paltry IGR yet our currency remained one of the strongest in the world. Are you aware ce fa is now stronger than naira? When last did you see cotonou maids coming here to work? They used to come cos of our strong currency. By the time they changed it to cefa, ground go do full. Go and check how much naira was to dollar when obj was in power and crude was sold for less than 50usd a barrel. Maybe you'd understand the meaning of bad economic policies of govt

Wetin bring Peter Obi come this matter?

Is he the reason why the Naira is undervalued?

Is he the reason fuel is now N520 per litre and will be N700 per litre in the North?

Is he the reason why 5 seed of tomatoes is now N350?

Is he the reason you entered trailer from Kaduna to Ilorin to celebrate Salah?

Is he the reason there will be increase in electricity tariff as from tomorrow?

Is he the reason students at Federal Universities will start paying double of their fees?
I still find it difficult to understand why peter obi is still a nightmare to these people just like you noticed too.
Them carry mandate, ask am to go court, the man is minding his business jeje.
Once you fault anything with tinubu, they will call obi as if it was his father that impregnated Tinubu's mother.

It becoming childish and annoying honestly. I thought I was the only one that noticed that obi's name is coming up on a thread that has to do with tinubu"s policies.

Tinubu and his supporters dont understand Statistics as he said...." NA STATISTICS WE GO CHOP" during his selection campaigns....

Am watching from a distance, I can see the top WAILERS of Agbadonians on Nairaland here are beginning to suffer the consequences of their myopic Propaganda for this new TAX GOVERNMENT......

No sir, I absolutely disagree.
As much as floating is highly risky, perhaps even suicidal in an unproductive economy, mere devaluations (which I call kicking the can down the road or sweeping the problem under the carpet) is equally meaningless and totally destructive in a regime of institutional failure and poor corporate governance. It assumes everyone will be ethical and accountable. Such is not Nigeria.

We have devalued deliberately many, many times and it has done nothing to enhance the management of our currency exchange regime. Moreover it has put more resources outside the control of government and made the CBN of no consequence.

Floating is just leveling the playing field and the competition to determine who is most efficient at generating productivity.
