It may be difficult o but tell your sister to get a court order and thereafter take it immediately to the recipient back. They will freeze the account and put a restriction on it so that they can reimburse her anytime money enters the account. It's a very slow process sha o. |

This thing can be really frustrating. It's a very trackable offence if our efcc, bank fraud unit and police are working wella. The idiots can be tracked even from their BVN but our useless weak security system won't even give the case a glance. |

Go to sportybet office and explain the situation of things to them. Please don't allow this matter to die, the person that did this must pay, beside it is easy to track the person because he or she is a customer of sportybet, all they need to do to check their database and determine the real owner of the account because he or she must have registered his bank account inorder to play a game with the money just to withdraw. If sportybet failed to cooperate report them to betting commission that they work with the scammer to scam your sister. Please, don't listen to those that will tell you to forget the matter, you can make the change. I can't just imagine the pain your sister will be going through for losing this huge amount, people are just extremely wicked. |

@Op, it's very easy to get the culprit. Report the matter to a nearby police station. Let them use banker's Order and block the beneficiary's account. I can be of help. But ur location matters? Kossykruz: |

A colleague of mine was also a victim of this same story, unfortunately it is zenith bank and the money is 20k. Zenith bank is full of information leaking and customer protocol breach, if you have money in your zenith bank, you are at the risk of loosing your money, believe me that bank is full of sh1tz. I went to open the bank sometimes until one slowpoke who call himself zenith manager call me and started asking about my bvn and otp. I repeat, avoid zenith bank....! |

She's to blame. In fact, she's an accomplice since the money, according to you, belong to someone. Why is she sending out OTP in this age and time? |

Be wary of Zenith bank, a family member lost 1.8m to this same scam in April, up till this moment nothing has been done about it, the zenith bank staffs are accomplices, the scammers carry out this fraud on Friday/Saturday. They wrote to CBN yet nothing has been done |

Not only Zenith bank. It seems some banks marketers usually sell out customer information. Few weeks ago, one of our security who doesn't have BVN , NIN let alone bank account before. He went to Access bank to open an account. When his account is ready he got a message that I helped him to interpret that his account his ready for usage. Believe you me guys, nobody else knows that this guy has open an account, 2 days after the account is ready for usage, he got a phone call from a scammer asking for the last 3 digit at the back of his ATM after the scammer have said all his information. The guy rushed down to me to speak with the person because he doesn't understand English. I quickly told him, those are the 419 I told you about be expecting their calls once in a while because you're already have a bank account |

Neither the bank nor Sporty is to blame for this. You can file a case of fraud with the police, but because this is a case of negligence on the part of the customer, the bank may not be willing to dedicate any time to recovering the money as they have hundreds of issues to investigate every day. Banks would prioritize cases that involve system compromises from their own ends. But you see cases which arise from customer's negligence or greed, they don't give it much time and/or attention. Banks spend billions sharing safety tips with their customers. Customers are often warned against sharing sensitive information with anyone. You shouldn't still be blaming the bank for a fraud caused by a customer's ignorance, greed or whatever. As for Sportybet, they too share safety tips with their customers. They have further created protective mechanisms such as the two-way verification password to protect user accounts. They also have PIN for withdrawal which only a fool would share with anyone else. |

Sorry to say that the money is gone. Your sister was Naïve to fall for that scam by giving the OTP. Scam cases are so complex that resolving it is almost impossible because everything involved in the transaction would be fake. Pls stay with her during this difficult times, it shall pass |

WhisperedNoise:Unfortunately she is the only one to be blamed. Banks always sing this like a song "we will never ask you for any OTP". I am even sure they wrote "never share this code with anybody" when she saw the OTP message on her phone. I think it's only the CBN that can ressolve this. The money entering into a sportybet account just made it more complex. |

WhisperedNoise:The worst and most baffling part of this is that the account owner herself would never be allowed to withdraw 1 million naira in a day without entering the bank hall |
