So far those generals couldn't win the war of terrorism that was before them, then there is no need to keep them. A private soldier is better than a general who could not win his enemies.

Incase the war of terrorism gets worse than it is now, DSS should not forget to invite this man for questioning and investigation.

Simply because most of those affected useless generals are northerners kept in service by Buhari.

Is this how we will make progress as a country?

That is a question you should have asked, when Buhari was kicking out southern senior officers wen he assumed office in 2015.

Why do you think SEners have been screaming about marginalisation?

The only zone likely to be protesting about this impending purge of senior officers from the military, is the NW zone and possibly some NE individuals.

I am sure Igbo officers in the list will be quite few. The same goes for SS officers.

in as much as I don’t like Tinubu or APC, but it’s a military tradition for those who are senior to the Chief of Defense to retire from service, how do you expect someone you senior in military ranking to be superior to you? Make una nor Dey use too much emotion I support the retirement, after all they’ve been there for years and the country isn’t secure we aren’t even wining war against insurgency because of those corrupt senior officers make dem step aside

Shebi they didn't want to work with Ribadu, hen the best bet is for them to retire. You cannot be dictating to the commander in chief who he should appoint.

The Op twisted the man's word.

The retired army captain was in favour of the President's action.

He said in any other country retiring over 100 major generals would be alarming, but that Nigeria 's 300 or so major generals are simply too many.

He went on to say he was not aware of any other country in the world that had over 300 major generals.

He was very unhappy that we have ended up with that many.

But the Op has twisted the Captain 's word to form a headline that suggests the man is worried that Nigerian army would collapse.

The Captain never said or implied anything of that nature.

Social media is very dangerous o.

Nothing is going to crumble. Never knew we had all these general's yet insecurity persists.

It's either their input is been felt,or they should go home and rest.

Don't those yeye people...they are just playing opposition. Tinubu that did the appointment didn't know that it will affect many generals...make Dem dey play.

What Tinubu indirectly did is that they have been ineffective in their duties and most of them are not even clean in this war against terrorism and banditry...

That's not what he's saying. He's saying Nigeria is the only country that can retire this many generals and not crumble - because we have way too many senior officers already. The point is that the military is bloated with top men.

I don't believe you. No crumbling whatsoever. Besides, so many serving generals has not help this country judging by the fact that insecurity, banditry, Fulani herdsmen attacks and kidnapping has been worst under the nose of the so call Nigeria generals.

The greatest injustice President Tinibu would ever do to his administration is to retain those ceremonial Generals

Tinubu simply doesn't have what it takes to lead this country.

Tinubu snubbed and humiliated over 300 ably qualified military generals to appoint their junior all because he wants someone from his ethnic group in position.

Other presidents before him appointed Service chiefs and CDS from other tribes according to seniority.
Tinubu is a bigot

You simply don't have an understanding of Tinubus's appointment. Even the guy in the interview didn't blame Tinubu. But I don't have the patience to explain to you cos you people will take it personal.

All I can say is, Tinubu selected from the set that should rightly produce the next set of service chiefs. Shalom

What work have the useless so called Generals been doing when Boko Haram, Bandits, ESN, IPOB, UGM, e.t.c. are killing Nigerians everyday?

They should ll go and die

Nigeria armed forces CAN NEVER DEFAT BOKO HARAM.
Boko Haram is fighting for a cause believed in by millions of Muslims in the 12 sharia states of far north Nigeria.

As for your placing IPOB on the same table with Boko Haram, you are joking like Malami. IPOB has no violence as its motto and is not a terrorist organisation. No other country in the world has agreed with the Malamis of Nigeria to see IPOB as a terrorist organisation.

Who is a Niger deltan? Which tribe is that, at what point DID you forget who you are and prefer to be regarded as Niger deltan? Anyways, you have the right to be called what you want be called, anyways, what we are saying here is that it is right to retire those men, if nigeria and those making the decisions are truthful and really want to work, by the time the retired and sacked all these redondant people from their pay roll and close even 50% of their wasteful ways, there will be no need to remove the fuel subsidy, the money being wasted in all these type of people is enough to pay for that subsidy

It's amazing how an interview can be misinterpreted.

I watched the interview on Friday, the guy's beef was that the armed forces promotion system has been bastardised to the extent that we have ended up with over 300 major generals which he said was simply too many.

He was not opposed to the President reducing the number by over 100. His beef was that the country shouldn't be having over 300 major generals anyway. He also said he was not aware of any other country in the world with over 300 major generals.

He was lamenting that no other country would retire over one hundred major generals because they would simply not have that many major generals to retire in the first place.

How this last comment has been twisted in OP's headline to suggest that the man was alarmed by the prospect of their retirement is amazing lol.

300 Major Generals is a lot mehn....that's billions already in payment of salary alone per annum.

Now their gratuity will be massive. At least 100m+ per person....Omo that's too much fund

The process starts from NDA recruitment. Each course have at least 200 mates. How will you promote just one to a major general and leave others because of state equality when all are qualified as coursemates? Na trouble you de brew naa
You choose the best. Who have shown intelligence, ability to solve problems, continuous education and successful battles. Not all your mates that started work with you get to CEO. Not everybody must be promoted with their mates. Every year. Some will retire at general or even army school instructor. There has to be a process in place that only merit and quality gets to such positions.
