Large consignments of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, being imported by major oil marketers, are to hit Nigeria from next week and may force down the price of the commodity, both major and independent dealers stated on Sunday. It was also gathered that crude oil refiners were currently releasing refined petroleum products on credit to dealers from Nigeria, following the recent unification of the country’s exchange, which boosted the confidence of operators.

You're deviating from the topic of the thread

Price of fuel will likely drop soon, that's what the thread is about.

It is good news

But practically, how is that possible?

what will make the price come down?

Reduced fuel price or what?

I have never seen a useless report like this.

NNPC imported petrol at 465 naira to a dollar. You imported yours at 700
naira to a dollar and you are claiming you will crash the price.

This is business not miracle.

Op read the article again, if you import fuel at an exchange rate of 700. How do you intend to crash the price.

This one thinks wishful thinking and positive affirmations is what will reduce the fuel price.

You guys don't know what you've gotten yourself into, please have you ever seen any commodity in Nigeria that the price went up and later came down, talk more of removing 100% subsidy once on fuel that is also a major determinant of price of other commodities.

There's price hike on Foods
There's price hike on Pharmaceuticals
There's price hike on Clothing
There's price hike on Transportation
There's price hike on Electricity
There's price hike on Housing

All thanks to our darling president Tinubu for removing subsidy once without putting things in place.

Yet it's Obi supporters that's giving you headache.

You aren't wise.

There lots of mysteries surrounding subsidy and fuel importations. I read the details of the news. The marketers even that the oyinbos gave them the fuel on credit.

Whether 700 naira or not they know what they're doing

I saw that news in another outlet but felt it was a deception. They NNPCL and Marketers will import the petrol from world market and the gasoline price is $250/gal,a gallon contains approximately 4liters/gal. So am comfused, is it that they are importing a sub standard product or reduced gasoline quality?

It is false hope. Punch wants people to buy their papers.

The fact is petrol is not cheap to make. Even when we had subsidy, the government was refining fuel in substandard refineries abroad to keep subsidy costs low. And it still cost money.

One way prices could come down is if the marketers realize that keeping fuel expensive means they are not selling much. So they would cut prices to attract more customers.

But fuel is not going below 200 naira again. Unless the naira grows stronger.
