Is he the same guy that was on politics today by Seun Yesterday?
ednut1:
he already has appointments since GEJ era. Appearing on tv and radio was part of his job as a PWC partner. Has nothing to do with appointments

I dedicate this to all Nairalander
Time for healing and forgiveness.
Everyone tribe should respect one another. The hate here is so palpable that I see them outflowing into our lives out there.
I am both Igbo and yoruba by tribe.

I love your gestures, bro, for that is what it takes to build a Stronger Nation!
Imagine, those being appointed now by President Tinubu are not necessarily politicians but have Characters of Professionals, who have seen it all within and outside Nigeria and are ready to alter the Landscape with what they have seen abroad,by replicating it locally!
That is the Spirit of Nationalism that we all must embraced!
NIGERIA shall be great again!

Wow, this is commendable. There is something about BAT that I really like which is attracting the best brains. It's no brainer that this committee will perform with their leader being the Tax guru himself.. we all know that revenue generation and treasury management is BAT forte so this should not come as surprise. I pray this works. For those shouting he appointed another yoruba. please show me a better Tax guru than Taiwo, check his profile and you'll be amazed I even thought BAT will give him the FIRS chair.
As far as the fellow has not worked or consulted with alpha betta. As far as alpha betta will crap will not be brought to federal level, where percentage of my taxes will go to a criminal organisation. No problem.
Furthermore, when you say best brains, Id say maybe, but will a touch of criminal enterprise. Look at all the fellows having one kleg in either their cv, or working life. Most liked to the oga at the top during his inglorious days in the US. One was disbarred as a lawyer in the US, another was indicted for credit card fraud in the 80s, one of his major aides was recently convicted and serving jail term in the US for same financial fraud, speaker was alleged not to have graduated and neither attended law school. Another a governor is facing litigation over his Waec certificate. The lost goes on and on.

Finally, we have mistakenly been blessed with a President that understand fiscal policy framework with knowledge of macro-economics. He might have dealt on drugs and has not been caught, which means he is great at the 11th Commandment.

Therefore, I am fully ready to give Tinubu a chance even though I believe Peter Obi won the election. But every action that Tinubu has taken so far, has been great, so therefore, I am a very Obidient BATist at the moment.

Once he launches State Police/Community Police Departments then Insecurity will be arrested

I was expecting this.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Tax Guru himself.

One reason why our Tax to GDP ratio is low is because a huge chunk of our GDP operates in the informal sector.

Open markets
Informal transportation
In formal agricultire
Informal mining
Property transactions with informal agents etc

Nigeria has to find a way of improving formalizing the informal sector.

If it were me, I'd make a law setting up Property clearing house in each state. You canny get approval to build unless professionals you are using have evidence of tax returns linked to their name.

Also all estate agents must be qualified and licensed and every real estate transaction must be conducted by a registers ND licensed agent. ND if you don't show tax filing for this year, you don't get licensed for the following year. Any transaction handled by n unlicensed agent becomes null and void.

Hundreds of BILLIONS, if not trillions of naira changes hand every year on rent, yet no tax is paid.

I'm happy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Taxation and Fiscal Policy Matters are not for politicians. You don't give such to politicians. It's strictly for politicians, and I'm happy PBAT wouldn't compromise this.

Political position would be Ministers, DGs of some not too sensitive MDAs, Boards appointments, and Diplomatic appointments.

Another crucial and critical appointment that touches on the economy is the next. And that's the CBN Gov and it's coming very soon. I'm talking about the man to manage our Monetary Policy. It's also an office that PBAT wouldn't politicize. It's for a fine professional.

Govt itself have not done enough to encourage the informal sector to key into taxation? The taxes most have been paying are they getting the same value or it's been used to fund the redundant public sector and politicians.
